After a thorough review and stay, I've chosen to update my review of Whistler Superior Properties - the management company of the rental we stayed in. In a nutshell, this is a horrible company with terribly unkind staff. I'll attach pictures to show as such. I had several challenges with the room itself, however, upon Dan (the owner's comments) I've elected to update my review (Hi Dan!). In terms of property management companies, the company does not provide a professional nor clean stay (see photos including unidentified puke like substance behind nightstand, trash behind furniture, broken lights, hair in the shower- I'm blonde so explain away Dan). When staff were asked questions, their responses were rude and inconsiderate of what was being stated i.e. "I read the form it doesn't make sense" and their reply was repeatedly "did you read the form". I have a doctorate, I read the form, it doesn't make sense. See attached photos that show that Whistler Superior Properties is not offering what was advertised nor upkeeping what was promised. This is not a clean property nor is this property as advertised as we did not have hottub access. As an owner (Dan), to be attacked for our profession (which has nothing to do with being a guest) upon providing an honest review, is unacceptable. As a professional in mental health, it is my hope that you reflect on constructive criticism as a means for growth. There's plenty of room for growth and development here. We provided feedback on the company's inability to fulfill their promises as publically advertised. Where to start with this "lovely" property. Looking at the past reviews, first one being from 2017 stating that the appliances and decor were lackluster 6 years ago...just providing an update here...THEY STILL HAVEN'T CHANGED. Bea from 2013 also commented on the springs coming through the pull-out couch....we had the same issue with our unit. Our choices were rock hard mattress or springs....either way it was not a pleasant night of sleep during our entire stay. Reading the description of the property and the "amenities" provided, this property is NOT "ski in ski out." Whoever thinks this on the property management team needs to get with the times as the closest lift is at LEAST a 10 minute walk from this place. If you do not book directly through the property site, understand that you will not have the privilege of staying in a specific unit. If you are like me and my wife, and went through another site, your odds of getting anything decent are slim. The "valued" staffed (see my review directly on their site) are rude, unhelpful, and the owner/manager (Hi again Dan! Hope you enjoy this read, bud) struggles to accept feedback and the opinions of guests for what they are by responding with attacking and condescending remarks. Deflection is a great skill this human has as none of the concerns were appropriately addressed. The room we rented for a week was gross, disgusting, and unclean. Hair was on the wall in the shower, utensils were dirty, trash was behind the bed, and the headboard was definitely broken. OH! Let's not forget the puke-looking stain tucked away in the corner in the bedroom. Appliances were outdated and old. Don't bother trying out the bathtub jets as there isn't enough hot water to fill the tub even above the jets to use. If you settle for a luke warm bath after being OUTSIDE ALL DAY, get your noise-cancelling headphones because the jets are loud and sound like something is going to explode. Definitely don't run the tub after quiet hours. Same goes for the washing machine/dryer, which are also outdated and incredibly loud. The room we rented definitely had an old-musty smell to it, despite the cleaning staff having just been in there prior to us having access. (See above problems with cleanliness in the room (Dan neglected to address these issues when we were there during our stay). Be mindful of what you are booking if you ever decide to stay at this property as you could easily be misled into booking something that isn't what it seems. Pictures of our unit were manipulated to seem larger and nicer than what they actually were (photographer did a great job...the only person that was there that actually did their job well). If I could rate this property lower, I would given the price you have to pay to stay here for outdated furnishings, appliances, and decor that doesn't make any sense at all. Please look into other properties as there are a TON of options in the village that are closer, cleaner, and have much friendlier and helpful staff. read more

We've rented from Whistler Superior for the past three years. They manage several properties in the Northern Lights complex above the Whistler gondola. These are all fairly large 3 and 4 bedroom townhomes, perfect for a couple of families or a group of 5 guys (our case). We've been happy for the most part with our stays, though the management company definitely loses at least 1 star for a few maintenance issues we've had. The past two years we've had a couple of maintenance issues - things Superior should be on top of. Last year in unit #7 our hut tub didn't work, which was a really big bummer. We complained but they were unable to get it fixed during our 4 night stay. This is really something they should have detected before we checked in, but instead they wound up giving us 1 night for free the following year. That was ok for us since we visit Whistler every year. This year in unit #2 the house was freezing (less than 50 degrees) when we arrived, and the heating system really wasn't able to warm the place up above 68 degrees. The lower lever of the house was roasting, but the upper floors ranged from cool to cold. We kept the heat cranked the entire time and it was ok, but could have been better. The Northern Lights townhouses are nice, and fairly well situated for ski-in / ski-out access to Whistler. The ski-out direction is a bit of a hike, a couple of hundred meters up a fairly steep slope to the mountain. Its a little tiring in the morning, but not really that bad. Superior Properties are fine, just be sure to let them know if there are any issues with maintenance. They're good about fixing things after the fact, and hopefully will be more on top of things down the road. read more

Stayed Dec. 20-27. This townhome is just ok. Nothing spectacular, especially for the price. There are many lovely properties with working appliances and nicer decor to chose from. We stayed during Christmas week. Spent close to $10,000 CAD. It accommodated our group of 9. It is small for 9 people but doable. Sleeps 9, but doesnt seat 9 at the dining table (5 dining chairs), nor does it have enough room in the living room for 9 people (5 seats) for watching movies, etc. so some had to sit in dining area for movie night. Curiously there is NO HEAT in the downstairs twin bedroom? Luckily we had a portable space heater in our snowmobile trailer. However, this review would be better if not for the broken refrigerator and the way it has been handled. When we checked in we were all dying for drinks from our 7 hour drive. Having stopped at Costco in surrey & a liquor store we were ready to start our vacation. However, the refrigerator wasn't cold and there was no ice. The temp was about 58F. So I adjusted the temp & hoped for ice. A couple hours later there was some ice, enough for three drinks, but noted the inside of the refrigerator was even warmer. Not sure what was going on we lowered the digital thermostat again, put some perishables on the deck outside as it was colder outside than in the fridge & went to bed. Next morning It was even warmer 65F. But we had ice! So I called the WHISTLER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES who said they'd send someone out to look at it. Later that day A WHISTLER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES manager arrived. Looked through the fridge and told me it was my fault for tampering with the controls, and so he set the digital thermometer AGAIN, and left. Later that day I received a call from the same manager who informed me that he talked to his repair guy and there might actually be something wrong & he would come look at it. When he arrived, he said the fridge was indeed broken and needed a compressor which was not immediately available & would have to be ordered. Wouldn't be fixed during our stay. I called Judith Thompson who was our first contact & took our payment, to make her aware of our issue. She said WHISTLER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES would take care of us. So tough luck! They didn't take care of us. No offer for coolers or ice to preserve our weeks worth of Costco groceries to feed 9 people. (That would have been nice and gone a long way with our impression) We kept some stuff on the front deck (which is behind a love seat you literally climb onto the deck & climb out of the deck as it is up a step. My mother couldn't do it I'm sure!) these groceries froze solid & became unusable. I.e. You can't freeze and thaw cream cheese we learned. Lettuce crystallized, Rock hard cheese & salami, and frozen solid half and half! Or we went down two flights of stairs & down a hallway for anything that couldn't be kept outside. Ugh! Frustrating! We were very gracious & didn't complain. Things happen. We were trying to just have fun & make light of our misfortune and camping in Whistler in the winter! We waited to see what WHISTLER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES or JUDITH THOMPSON might offer or say. To date, 2-7-17 & after two emails to Judith Thompson, and a promise to get back to me, They've done nothing. I believe they are very busy and not worried about losing business apparently. When you spend almost $10,000 CAD for a week, you expect a working refrigerator or some sort of acknowledgment or compensation when an issue does occur. It's good business, especially if you want a good review. Speaking of, the review book had only "good" reviews and MANY pages, about HALF the book ripped out! Suspicious?! We took a photo of the ripped out pages because we were quite shocked by that! (Wondering if they'll delete this review then?) The lack of a refrigerator was the biggest complaint. However, The microwave had to be slammed shut 2-3 times before it would catch and start, & the dryer took 2-3 cycles to dry anything. I mentioned these to the repair guy. The repair guy said it was a knob issue for the dryer & latch issue on the microwave. He Came back the next day with a replacement knob for the dryer. After two days of trying to dry anything it was the same. I took the knob off and turned it upside down & put it on the dryer, then it started to work! Also, They require you call when you have left the property to check out. They were all smiles and help when we checked in, but the girl I spoke with upon check out was so short & dismissive, I hung up and said to my husband wow! Needless to say, all this has left a very bad taste in our mouths. We have been going to Whistler for Christmas for the past 20 years. This was our first and last time at Montebello #58 or WHISTER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES or WHISTLER RENTAL BY OWNER. read more

Regarding Cedar Hollow, #10, there are things you won't see in the photos representing this property. Aside from springs coming through an aged sleeper sofa, "pancake" pillows and the lack of a single baking pan (for casseroles, cakes, etc.), it would have been good to be informed that it was necessary to navigate over 20 stairs every time we entered/exited the condo. Unloading and loading 2 cars filled with gear enough for six people for 5 days proved just short of daunting. On first opening of the condo's entry door we saw that only five chairs surrounded the dining table for our party of six, and since we planned to eat all our meals together at that table, I phoned the managing company immediately to politely request a sixth chair. Claire, there, said that it was impossible to find a chair. In disbelief, my daughter-in-law said that couldn't be so, so she phoned the managing office a second time, even compromising our request to a "folding chair," anything that would allow all six of us to sit at the table at once. Again, it was "confirmed" that, indeed, ours was an impossible request, and it would not be fulfilled. My daughter-in-law told Claire, that seemed out of order, and that we were receiving no service whatsoever for a very small request. My daughter-in-law even volunteered to pick up a chair anywhere Claire could locate one, and she was told very firmly that there would be no chair. My daughter-in-law thanked Claire "for nothing," and we knew not to expect the smallest favor, even ones we paid for. We ate over a dozen meals rotating, taking turns, sitting on two coolers stacked, one on top of the other. So, unless you enjoy dining on coolers, eat standing, or inhaling your meals over the kitchen sink, limit your party to five. It was this condo we chose over others because it offered a private hot tub. How disappointed we were to discover that only one of the hot tub's jets functioned! We reasoned that, if the managing agency was so unaccommodating as to make no effort at all to dig up a sixth chair, it would be pointless to make as "giant" a request as to repair the hot tub, particularly since one of the controls appeared to be rusted/fixed and probably in need of replacement parts. After we got home, the managing company insisted the hot tub functions perfectly, but, of course, we know better. If you search online, you will find other reviews stating a non-functioning hot tub and poorly maintained property managed by this company. They want your booking and offer absolutely no service when you need it, and you will. We received absolutely no satisfaction from Dan Fear of Whistler "Superior" Properties and suggest strongly that unsuspecting-you go elsewhere, to a reputable property management company, when choosing your accommodations. The booking agency was helpful, but then you'll find yourselves at the mercy of the con artists at the management company. If there were a rating worse than "Eek, Me thinks not!," I would have selected it. read more

Bottom line........ Wonderful staff, professional, friendly, accommodating. Unfortunately, the units they represent are not so great. Be very careful when renting your vacation rental. But once again, super people to plan with. read more
