This company does not even deserve a 1 Star that is for sure!…read more Here is my families HORRIBLE experience with this company! We had purchased a ticket upon arrival to Blacomb Lodge in whistler BC a very popular ski resort. By the time front desk helped us with checkout, and of coarse pay parking as you can only do it through front desk, our car was TOWED! And not in a fashionable manner either. The vehicle was covered in salt from driving the sea to sky highway. He touched the car, all over and scratched the salt into our vehicle. The hotel had backed us up called dispatch and had them release the car at the tow yard. He was just taking it off the truck when we arrived. My sister told them we have a ticket and had asked for the receipt so we can compare the times. The very very rude driver told us to f$&@ off we don't get a recipt and we can use debit, or visa. We said debit but please give us the receipt. He said you losers are the ones without the car. Refused our car, told me to get the f@&$ out of the way drove over my FOOT when I said he can't keep the car it's against the 15 minute grace rules. The passenger was laughing at us some brunet girl they made fun off us and pulled around front. We called the hotel, the hotel then called dispatch and the dispatch company told the hotel to called the police, so they had to call to release the card he tried saying not till Monday! Police had arrived he told them we were hammered and can't drive which was not even true! The police had to tell the tow truck driver numerous times to stop talking and being rude. We called the dispatch company 2 days later as we are disputing these charges and they do not have record of the vehicle! And so rude saying to call the cops again for records! Not sure what they can do but we are getting that file, and will be reporting this to the city as this company does not deserve a contract AT ALL The next night we were going to our car and recorded him towing another vehicle from Washington! He scraped the front end you could hear it scraping on the cement! Unfortunately we didn't record that but we did record him swearing at us telling us we're on his dashcam and going all over YouTube! Okay there buddy your great at you job! We will also be having our vehicle inspected as he towed the vehicle so fast he may not even have had it on the dolly properly and damaged the vehicle! If you own this buisness and read this, we will be doing everything we can to bring your horrible company to light

Sept 4th 2020 had our F350 towed from the Hurley close to Gold Bridge to Kamloops Ford dealership…read more First off, they did no leave a copy of the extra $774.00 charge for towing on dirt roads with my truck ( I have no objection to this charge but needed to see the breakdown). Second, very short on the phone and were not communicative with me. They were suppose to contact me before towing the truck (when in Pemberton). Third, damaged our tailgate and latch and they will not accept the fault. I had BCAA coverage and they paid for a portion of the tow (over and above the $774.00 I paid so they must of made a very good sum). Fourth, I will have to pay the $300.00 deductible, twice, as ICBC is treating it as two claims and it also goes on my driving record. I would not recommend them.

From the very first visit, I was struck by how personal the experience was. Owen greeted me by name, took the time to listen, and made me feel like more than just another service ticket. That personal touch means so much--especially in an industry where it's easy to feel like you're being rushed in and out. What truly sets them apart is their unmatched customer service. Even when I've needed last-minute help, they've always gone out of their way to fit me in. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and their safety. Owen is also incredibly thorough when it comes to explaining what needs to be done. There's never any pressure, just honest recommendations and clear communication. Whether it's routine maintenance or unexpected repairs, I always leave feeling confident that my car--and my time--were respected. Barney's isn't just a great shop. It's a rare gem in the automotive world. After two decades of car ownership, I can honestly say this is the best experience I've ever had with any mechanic. If you're looking for a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and truly customer-first place, this is it.

A friend took me and the tire to Barney's at 5 pm and they told me they would repair the tire first thing in the morning. At 9:30 am, I received a text saying the tire was "good to go". I drove to the shop where they installed the tire and I was able to drive back to the city. Thanks guys, Clark W

Avoid this shop. At…read morefirst all seemed well as Rob helped us get a quick repair to our vehicle while on a ski trip in Whistler. Unfortunately, they installed the wrong part on my car (windshield wiper motor) that wasn't a direct fit to my vehicle and was not able to calibrate and kept popping up halfway up the windshield. The issue was obvious the moment I picked it up. Unfortunately we had to leave for our 5 hour drive home and couldn't stick around Whistler area for him to fix the mistake. The owner acknowledged it and refunded labor--but then failed to follow through on the rest. We agreed on a clear resolution: I'd get it fixed back home and return the incorrect part, and he'd reimburse me for the part (1st half before I shipped the part back and second half after he received it) for ~$445 CAD. I did exactly that--paid for the repair, shipped the part back internationally (cost me about $90 CAD in shipping), sent tracking, and followed up. He never paid a cent of what he agreed to for the cost and return of the bad part. Instead, he stopped responding entirely despite me calling 30+ times over the course of multiple weeks, leaving multiple voicemails and sending email. One time he answered the phone, said "hi this is Rob," and the second he realized it was me, he hung up. After that--no responses to calls or emails. He also refused delivery of the returned part at customs (leaving it abandoned in transit), which shows exactly how seriously he takes honoring his word. This wasn't just a mistake. It was a clear agreement to fix it, followed by complete avoidance and no follow-through. If something goes wrong here, don't expect them to stand behind their work. Finding mechanics whom you can trust can be difficult, fortunately, your search can be a little bit faster as you can scratch this one off the list.

ALL CUSTOMERS READ THE FOLLOWING EMAIL:…read more The following email was sent on October 26, 2021, and there was no reply from SMD Auto. Dear SMD Auto, On July 27th, 2021, I booked in a pre-purchase inspection on a GMC Sierra 1500. The only concerns listed on the report were a broken oil pressure gauge and no tread on the rear tires. Your mechanics gave us confidence that the vehicle was in good working order for our cross-Canada road trip and I went ahead with the purchase. A few weeks after taking ownership of the vehicle, we noticed that the brakes would occasionally shudder or make a grinding/scraping noise when braking. We ignored it for the meantime. On August 31st, 2021, just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario, the brake pedal dropped almost to the floor while driving, and the 'Service Brake System' message was displayed on the dash. There was no braking material left in the rear drums and the wheel cylinder ruptured. This left us in need of a full rear brake replacement - drums, wheel cylinders, shoes, and a new master cylinder, which set us back just over $1100. On the SMD inspection report it says that brakes, pads, shoes, and drums were inspected as part of the pre-purchase inspection. The brake lines were also identified as badly rusted. I'm not sure how such a severe safety issue could pass through your rigorous pre-purchase inspection report checklist, raising concerns about the thoroughness of your pre-purchase inspections on other vehicles. The tech who performed the inspection was Jens Steinebrunner and the service advisor was Shanice Smith. We paid $119.56 for the service. I look forward to hearing back from you, Kieran Clark
