We were looking for a quick bite restaurant while running errands in Whitby and decided to try out…read moreMancini ased on Yelp reviews. It is a small joint with maybe 10 -12 tables (some booths) being run by two very lovely ladies who were really helpful. We opted for a medium Canadian walk in special, spaghetti and meatballs with a side of garden salad. You need to order at the front and sit down and they call you when the food is ready. I did not try the pizza but my daughter really enjoyed their Canadian. My spaghetti and meatballs came with excellent meatballs but it was a little too saucy for my liking. We only got to sample a bit of the salad but the roasted red pepper that come with the salad was a nice and sweet and you could tell it was roasted in house, not the sour stuff that come out of a jar. Our overall experience was pretty good but I think at this price point, I expected a little more like real plates and cutlery maybe? I didn't love eating my pasta with disposable wooden fork that came pre-packaged with a wooden knife, napkin and a salt and pepper packet which seemed more wasteful than anything. I would come back to try out their sandwiches next time and skip the pasta.

We excitedly tried here today. We ordered: Wings $7.29 * Six Wings * Sauce on Wings * Medium Sauce Medium Margherita Pizza $19.65 Veal Sandwich $11.99 The pizza had fresh basil leaves, fresh tomato & sauce. Mozzarella was not fresh mozzarella. The crust was not Naopolitan style, but tasty with a good texture. Not thick, not thin. This crust may go better with other toppings. The wings are reasonably priced, and not dry. The sauce was good. I had high expectations for their Veal Sandwich, as it is highly reputed. I liked the fluffy Kaiser bun - not flat, not soggy in spite of the saucy fillings. Yes, there were multiple layers of veal cutlets but they lacked veal taste. All I tasted was the deep-fried crust coated with tomato sauce. The size was big, and it is "filling" for sure. Although I was a bit disappointed, I think I had too high an expectation from the reputations. If I want something different from those famous chain pizza joints, this place is definitely to go!

They've got all kinds of choices, something for every craving, including soups of the day, salads, and more. This time around, I had their Chicken Club sandwich and it was delicious and filling. It was served with potato chips and a pickle on the side. Great meal! Check them out at 90 Old Kingston Rd in Ajax!

Ryan is the founder of the business, which he runs with family and friends. We got to meet Riott, his son, who had a love for skulls and all Halloween decorations at this eatery. This place specializes in sandwiches. Many of their meats are slow-cooked for ten hours. Sauces, soups, and slaw are homemade. We ordered many items off the menu and had what we liked: - Jalapeno and house slaws - Chickpea and ham soup - Roasted garlic and tomato soup - The Brooklyn (Italian) - Hot corned beef - Montreal smoked meat - Slicey's chopped chicken - Chicken club wrap I started with the hot corned beef sandwich. The corned beef was generous and so flavourful. The rye bread held all that tender corned beef together, along with the best grainy mustard aioli. I am a soup girl. I enjoyed the roasted garlic and tomato soup. It had the perfect amount of garlic with tomatoes, along with onions and spices. It was a comforting, smooth soup. The chickpea and ham soup was excellent. It had nice cubes of ham with chickpeas. It was so hearty and delicious. I also love slaw. The jalapeno and house slaws were crunchy. The former was creamy with a touch of heat. The latter was vinegar-based. You get the best of both slaw dressing worlds! I then had the Montreal smoked meat. It was full of the most tender smoked meat on rye bread with mustard. So good! I'm not sure how I managed to down Slicey's chopped chicken sandwich. It was so good that I did! It had slow-cooked chicken that was chopped with tomato, and red onion. It included the jalapeno slaw, along with white cheddar. It was messy to eat, but so worth it. The flavours were outstanding. This business supports other local businesses. The bread comes from a local bakery. It also features Purple Tongue hot sauces. Staff are super friendly and kind. They can craft a sandwich to your liking if you go with The Riott. There were two separate washroom stalls. I used one of them before I left this eatery. It was clean. No complaints. It's a comfortable place to hang out with friends over good food and drinks. I ended up having a Diet Coke and Crush cream soda during the two hours that we were here. They were cold and refreshing. It's street parking for three hours. It's free, which is nice. Alternatively, there is a parking lot across from this eatery. I look forward to returning for more good eats and soup. It's a gem of a sandwich place that happens to have awesome soups and slaw. (391)

A BBQ treasure nestled between the edges of Ajax and Whitby offers must have succulent eats…read more I've been here several times by now and tried pretty much everything on the menu and nothing is disappointing, everything is delicious. On the most recent trip I really enjoyed the country fried steak. While it is heavy, it is perfectly fried and topped with a savoury and creamy white gravy. The fries on the side were cooked absolutely perfectly. The coleslaw was tangy and balanced. The Mac n Cheese was so creamy, with a hint of spice and topped with breadcrumbs to create a mix of flavours. This is already on top of the many other tasty dishes such as the pork shoulder and smoked chicken wings which I highly recommend. Butchie's is a BBQ staple for Durham region. I've been here several times and I'll be back many times over, especially during the summer for their beautiful backyard style patio!

No ribs or brisket, so I'm not sure if they really ever have that sort of bbq food available. The hush puppies were nice. I liked the crunchy/ crispy exterior and the soft, cake like interior. It was a savoury item I've never had before and definitely can understand why it's popular. I also like the sauces they served with these. Smoked chicken wings were amazing. Chicken had a nice salty, herby rub it was tossed in. It was like all dressed or bbq chip seasoning on top of the chicken which was a bit addicting. Our chicken was a bit over cooked and slightly dry, but it was still great. My partner had the country fried steak. I was going to warn him it probably wasn't his cup of tea but he never tried so there you have it. It was a fried thin steak with some gravy sauce over top. I don't know if that's how it's suppose to taste to be honest so I don't want to really judge it. I personally wouldn't order it. Nevermind if it's how it should taste, I just didn't love the soggy feel to it. The steak was super dry and over cooked. I loved the drink options. They carry a sparking tea made locally and I know they've tried to partner with local artisan drinks. They make milkshake the real way with real kawartha dairy ice cream, which is amazing. I love that they have real Kawartha Dairy ice cream too. The service is 10/10. People are incredibly friendly! The food took a while to come out the kitchen so definitely not an option for rushed dinners, but atleast it's fresh. Personally, I want to support them, but I think it's not my kind of food. I hope they continue to be in business though and spread their good spirits and fun. I'll definitely swing by for ice cream once in a while.

Huge! Feeling like…read moreVietnamese food but wanted to try something other than Pho today. Then this place's positive reviews caught my eyes. I like Banh Mi way more than regular Sub sandwiches. Love Banh Mi baguette's uniquely airly, light and crispy bread. So, decided to have a Banh Mi day, just hoping that this place will use my desired type of bread!! (many places don't...) We got #1. Lemongrass Pulled Chicken #2. Assorted Cold Cut I loved #2, cold cut than #1. Plenty of thick cold cuts. Plenty of veggies (lightly pickled carrots and radish), crispy cucumber slices, which added fresh, crisp and a touch tangy kick. Bread had a desired texture - light, airly and super crispy crust. Not overly seasoned, natural and fresh taste. What I especially liked was chicken pate. It gives it an extra savoury flavor (rightly modest amount) to this simple assembly. #1 was good, but it gets messy as we ate. And chicken was over seasoned with mayo based sauce which overpowered the natural flavour of the whole. But I liked here. They use my desired type of bread, and the portion was HUGE. We (2 of us) had one for each, but we both saved 1/3 for later. lol Good deal, tasty food. We will come back!

This place does a great job executing the Banh Mi. Slightly picked carrots and radish are spot on with cilantro and mayo. I like the pate but it somehow flows through the bread while you eat it. The assorted deli meats taste authentic and they pile on the slices. The bread is okay but I would have liked a bit crispier outside. It's a larger sandwich than what you get in the GTA so the increased price point of fair. I prefer sliced thai chillies in my Banh Mi instead of the chilli sauce they give you. It's a great option and hopefully they can gain a foothold in Whitby. We will be back for sure.
