Overlooking the religious aspect (which is important), the teachers and administration actually care, and its shows. All the employees know ALL of the kids' names, as well as the parents too (security, lunch-staff, office admin, etc.). Teachers my kid hasn't had yet know his name.....The teachers actually want to be there, and 'craft' (mold) good children, and they go above and beyond around each and every turn. Also, the kids there have personality, heart, and compassion, for each other and the world around them. They care about each other in a way you would never (NEVER) see in the outside world. Its actual love exuding in how they interact, play, and talk. They are curious beings, with empathetic hearts, growing into this world, and protected by the school, while at the same time allowed to find themselves and evolve into good people/adults. The administration is also top-notch. From the front office, principal, vice-principal (Ms. Fessman!), Mr. Lou, and Father McSweeney and Father Figueroa . They all CARE, and know each and every one of these kids' names, personalities, and interest...............these people not only care, but they also LOVE these kids, and love their jobs (and it shows). As the saying goes, 'it takes a village to raise a kid', and St. Augustine's has that down pat. The tuition isn't that bad, and the product you see in your child shows each and every day. The biggest investment you will ever make is in your children, and placing your child here ensures a return on that investment. I cancelled her enrollment in June but the school won't give me back the first tuition payment. I'm paying for a month of school where my child isn't even attending and I was laughed at by MARYANNE DEMPSEY who was unhelpful and nasty. These Catholic schools are a joke. All they care about is the almighty dollar. That is why my daughters first school closed and here is another school just keeping money that doesn't belong to them. I'm very hurt by the schools response and wouldn't give that parish or school another dime! It's a shame. You can't trust them.

When he was about to turn three this past September, he moved into the 3, 4 and 5 year old class. That is when they noticed he had a hard time sitting still and focusing. He was about to age out of EI (Early Intervention) and start CPSE (Committee on Preschool Education), which would mean the therapists that were approved (Speech, SEIT and OT) could work with him in his classroom environment. However, MCR does NOT allow ANY therapists in this school to work with children who have been approved to receive it. So, we were left with no other choice, and had to scramble to find a new school in the middle of October of 2018. Not an easy task considering that most were already full by that point. Luckily we found a school that my son adores. It is a play based, loving and nurturing environment, that is so in tune with nature and outdoor play. I guess everything happens for a reason, and we were very fortunate to end up where we are now. MCR does wonderful things with the students, my son learned a lot in his time there. Their holiday show and graduation are amazing as well, along with their camp. That said, Montessori is not for every child, especially a child that requires therapy of any sort. What bothered me about our experience is how they didn't give me any feedback of his behavior in the baby class (NK) prior to moving up. We did have parent teacher conferences twice in the school year, but they never spoke about how he was disruptive, couldn't focus or sit still. Had I known this was going to be an issue, we could have looked for other schools before he started in the toddler class. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth, as we felt forced out of there in a way. In closing, I debated on whether or not to write a review about my experience with this school. However, I recently learned the same thing is happening with another child there, so I wanted to give other parents a heads up before you consider going to this school.

Explains why every week she was on vacation in California or on some international adventure. 2) The energy is HORRIBLE esp. if you are not donating to all of their programs. They won't even greet your child when you arrive with him/her. The teachers all look exhausted, unhappy and annoyed. And they are quick to tell you what they think of every detail of your child's abilities -- mostly negative. 3.) They charge a HUGE deposit (no other preschool in the area charges like this), and BEWARE of the contract. We lost several thousand dollars for taking our son out early. It's insane. 4.) It is so tiny that in the winter the kids are all huddled together in a small space -- ALL DAY. A MUCH BETTER OPTION: World Cup Nursery School. She would said "it's nothing bad I just thought u would want to know..." she is so kind and nurturing to all the children in her class which was 16:1 with two teachers aids. I don't believe they make teachers like this anymore, she was just beyond wonderful to my daughter and really put my mind at ease knowing she was in good hands with Mrs Kelly! This year for kindergarten my daughter has Mrs Grassi. She is so great as well! She really pushes the kids to be independent and strong minded. She is tough in a sense, she likes things done in a certain way and has high expectations of the children which I like because it keeps my daughter motivated to do more and achieve more. She gives out a good amount of homework & if the child misses a day of school she sends them home the missed class work to be done at the earliest convenience so they don't completely miss out. Mrs Grassi as well as Mrs Kelly also sends us photos and weekly updates/work plans for the kids to our parent portal which I enjoy because I always know what the kids are doing and what to expect in the coming week. She started the Senior Pre-K last year (2021-2022 school year). At the beginning of the year, I did not think much of it but she did not seem to really be enjoying school or getting much out of it. When I started to try to take a closer look at pick up, Open Houses and parent/teacher conferences I noticed that the teacher, Ms. L and her assistant seemed to have no classroom management or much interest at all in teaching and rather just going through the motions. They did have all the supplies to make the classroom look great and appear as though they were learning amazing subjects but she was not happy. I tried to speak to them at pick up time or whenever it was appropriate but it always appeared like they did not want to be bothered. When it was getting towards the end of school, I noticed she was very hesitant about going and was not learning much or excited about anything. I spoke with some of the other parents in the same class and they were all feeling the same way, very disappointed about this school year and the teachers performance. Now my daughter is in the New Rochelle school system and after a few months of school, I do not feel like she was prepared at all as promised. It seems that I share the same opinion as other parents of that same class who also now have their kids in the New Rochelle school. Knowing this, I would have chosen a different path for her during that school year. I do feel that the first years were worthwhile but not the Senior Pre-K program.

This is for the children who are already fluent enough to study IN Japanese. It is not a language school to study Japanese. They cover the same curriculum (only Japanese language art and math) as the ones in Japan. They have kindergarten through 12th grade. Many students in 1st - 3rd grades, but fewer in upper grades. Most of the time, the school is until 12:50PM, but every now and then it is until 3:10PM. They also have some activities related to Japanese cultures. My kids' friends are going there and they all love it even though they do not like the fact they have to go to school on Saturdays.
