An awesome day with an awesome guide. Robert was a pleasure to share the day with, a patient teacher (our first time fly fishing) and a great guide- knew where all the fishy spots were and put us on them as best he could. Only 4 stars since we'd originally booked a full day and were contacted just the evening before to notify us we could only go a half day due to Salmon spawning season river restrictions closing in on the float area early. This experience was VERY family friendly. Turner was able to skillfully transition from socializing to guiding/instructing as needed. Decent company but they really need to get their act together in the Fishing Guide dept. They might be great in the rafting arena but their fly fishing guiding is like an after thought at best. The guide (Robert) was woefully unprepared and was visibly angry every time we missed a fish, it was our first time fishing! He would heavy breath and was incredibly snarky. Making the trip a bit uncomfortable. Here is the thing, when you book a guide for your trip. Make sure you get someone who is a dedicated fishing guide. read more

Although a year later, the owner Jeremy reached out and made things right by refunding us for our trip and explained that our trip was changed to a different trip due to water conditions and it was apparently not communicated to us or any of the other groups. I appreciate a company that makes things right and provides exceptional customer service... although my rafting experience wasn't top notch I'd be willing to give them another shop next time due to awesome customer service! The day-of went smoothly and felt well organized. The river and surrounding landscape is gorgeous. The guide really knew fly fishing and the area well. We were both beginners though and the guide felt better suited for advanced level lessons. Not super patient or encouraging, and didn't know how to really teach newbies. Felt expensive for not really feeling like it was a super educational experience. Felt rushed when trying to learn super basic moves and would suggest having specific beginner guides and specific beginner tours. I'm glad I gave it a try will research which tour guides are for beginners at this shop, or another outfitter better next time. read more

We started the day in a bad state. We had some tired girls, some hungover girls, even some (almost) sick girls. Needless to say, we were late. And worried. So when we missed the turn and then saw Robert motioning for where we were supposed to park, we were double worried. But we could not have been more wrong. Robert made us feel so welcomed and at home with White Cloud. He went over safety procedures while also getting us on time for departure. We got off without a hitch. He made the whole day fun and enjoyable- we even had a drink or two (!) but he was the utmost professional. All the rapids were very well-executed, and we barely had to paddle. Robert was a wonderful raft guide, In fact, "Dirty Rob" made us have the best time ever. He's a hoot and we could not recommend more! read more

Robert and Travis were my family's guides on this adventure! They were extremely helpful with telling my sister and I how to kayak through the class 3 rapids. They didn't tell us where the cameras were so we were nervous that they were not taking any pictures, but they had a camera on one of the rapids and they took some incredible candid shots! They said they would email them to us within 3-4 days and I thought that was pretty strange since that's literally all they had to do. Overall, it was an incredible experience and my family and I would definitely go back and do it again! read more

My boyfriend and I were camping at Pettit Lake (south of Stanley) for a few days. His brother and sister-in-law recommended White Cloud. We called late in the afternoon and they were able to get us in the next day at 10am for the half-day II/III rapids. Ashton was our guide and extremely easy-going and full of knowledge, as were the other guides in the 10am group. At the break, we lost two of our raft passengers since they were on the full-day lunch excursion, Ashton let my boyfriend have a go at guiding the raft since he had prior rafting experience. He absolutely loved that and said it "made up" for the fact that we couldn't go on their high adventure (class 4 rapids) trip. An ever bigger point for us was that we were able to leave his two dogs tied up there instead of at camp! read more

Took a large group for a bachelorette party. They were super patient and very personable. The guides were great (Geoff and Patrick) and made us feel very comfortable. They just felt like part of our group. The lunch was on a nice little beach with a fire pit. The food provided was stellar for lunch and they basically let us do what we wanted. They even let us stop at a hot spring along the way. Saw great wildlife and just had a great day doing a new activity with friends. Would highly recommend. The town of Stanley is also very quaint. Go spend some time there! read more

We went on the adventure white water rafting and it was GREAT!! Our guide was Robert, who is also a fishing guide, and he was awesome. We are all pretty large people and he kept us from falling out, even at the Dam (which wasn't an easy feat). We were scheduled for noon and showed up at 11:30. They seemed confused why we were early so we ended up hanging out for 30 minutes outside. A couple of our group went inside to get chums for their sunglasses ($5 each which is a great price). They offer splash guards (I highly recommend wearing this in the COLD water), wetsuits, helmets, water shoes that all comes with the reservation. Definitely wear your own swimwear, but they have everything else you need. There are 3 changing rooms/restrooms so you can bring a change of clothes for afterwards. They keep all car keys in the office while you go so you don't take ANYTHING with you on the trip. They also have a photographer who takes pictures at the 2 category 4 rapids areas and they turn out GREAT!! You can purchase the digital version for $20 after you see them. White cloud takes payment AFTER the tour so you can decide whether you want the photos they took. We opted to purchase them. Overall I would send ALL my friends to go do this. Rob told us they are the only tour that still does "The Dam" because it is quite perilous. But if our group could do it, I honestly think anyone can. We are NOT athletic. I highly recommend this company! read more

We chose White Cloud for a half day rafting trip and so glad we did! From making the reservation to confirming the day before to our arrival and on the river, these guys are pros- but also super low key and friendly. This is a family run, locally owned business and they run a tight ship. They were well prepared when we arrived and got us outfitted and heading out ASAP. Our guide Cooper was great- friendly, knowledgeable and skilled. We really enjoyed getting to know him while rafting a beautiful section of the Salmon River. Every trip they start with a safety speech and its very helpful even when we've been multiple times.... You never know when you may be swimming. The company is a family owned company and they are great! They have a passion for white water and want everyone to enjoy their trip. I would no doubt spend my money here for any rafting trip, not only for their great guides, but the family as well! Lastly, if you want to catch a big fish on the salmon river they are guides just for their fishing trips and they have been doing it for years. They take you to the right spot and for the big fish! We are driving cross country from LA to Philly and had a high adventure rafting half day trip planned for today at 2pm. We went out of our way to stay in Boise so we would be a couple hours away from the start of the tour in the morning. Everything was planned perfectly until someone from the company called to tell us we couldn't go at our scheduled time of 2:00 pm because the other people scheduled to take the same trip had bailed. We weren't able to find anywhere else in the area to go white water rafting the same day. We have only a limited time to get to our final destination and this completely messed up our plans. We went out of our way from Seattle to Boise and basically wasted a full day of travel, drove 7 hours out of the way, and wasted gas money, hotel money, etc. The whole situation was super sucky and disappointing. I really hope the other people who fucked us over didn't get refunded like we did. I can appreciate the fact that you can't do high adventure rafting with just two people but if the company would have called us the night before we could have been awake and on the road earlier to make an earlier time slot with another group. Seems like this company could be a bit more proactive with these situations and get confirmations from people 24 hrs ahead of time. We are super disappointed. read more

Do not give these guys money!! Not only will you not see your trip but they will charge your credit card without authorization. I purchased a groupon a few months ago for them, booked a reservation, i was told i would get a follow up email or phone call to tell me what time and where to be. I called and called after making the reservation because i never received the confirmation- no one called me back. The reservation came and went. I noticed they charged my credit for a no show. So i paid double for a trip that i didnt do. I followed up with them after this with no luck, i finally reported to AMEX the charge was unauthorized and got an email back requesting me to call for a refund. Again i called and called with no return call. These guys still owe me money, groupon refunded my money but still waiting on refund for my AMEX. These guys are poorly organized, i wouldnt trust my money with them and definitely not my life on the river. Plenty of other options in Stanley- do not raft with this company. read more

Our guide was very competent and friendly, but she forgot our paddles and we had to wait on the side of the road for an hour when she went back to get them. Mistakes happen, but I felt we should have been comped for something due to the delay and inconvenience. We had to cut the float short so we could get back to our dog. This is my first review, as I usually don't review things. However, when I visited Idaho, I thought this place was great! I went on a trip with a few of my friends and everyone was so accomodating. They really knew a lot about the river and everything around it and helped us out without making us feel too touristy. I was kind of nervous about being on the raft with one of my friend's kids, but it turned out great! He loved seeing the fish and the guide really watched out for him without being overly cautious. I would do this every summer if I got the chance. When I do go back, I'll definitely be going down the river with these guys! read more

Last month I took my almost 10 year old daughter and wife on their first rafting adventure and used White Cloud--they were awesome and ensured both my girls had a tremendous first experience on the water. I've done a significant amount of rafting and could tell that the company has experienced guides who put safety--and fun--at the top of the priority list! Stanley only has four companies and all the guides know each other, etc but trust me when I tell you to pick up the phone and book with White Cloud--the homemade chocolate chip cookies are worth it alone and we're already excited to book an overnight with them next year when we return to Idaho! read more

This company provided a guided inflatable kayak experience for my wife while I was fighting wildfires. During this amazing experience, a guide in a raft, Tafford, sent her down a rapid and proceeded to enter said rapid less than 10 feet behind her. When she flipped, as was stated as a possibility, the fact the "guide" had already entered the rapid and proceeded to run her over, have her inhale water, and gain multiple bruises 1 foot by 6 inches in size as he ran her over on the rocks. They then proceeded to make fun of her in the photo replays after the trip, making her feel like crap, and proceeded to make fun of the agency that provides their permits. I contacted the company and was assured the owner would call me that night. It has been over a week and I am greeted with voice-mail. 10/10 would not recommend because you could be that person their own raft runs over and never comes up. Will be contacting special use permit office from the USFS if not contacted in the next 24 hours. read more
