The park Is closed for construction, however it says it's open still. All I wanted to do was look at it for my child.

I like White Deer park, the trail is a nice good workout. I even had my gender reveal here at one of the shelters. The only downside is, the left entrance. They use to have a big slide that was alot of fun & they had seesaws. Maybe too many people got hurt and they removed the seesaws but that was the best part about the left side. The slide, last time I saw it - wasn't in the best shape. But that's just normal wear and tear. The right entrance however, big playground - lots to do. I had fun here even as a teenager. I still occasionally come here to walk the trail, I like this park alot. Lots of good memories here. read more

Gorgeous sprawling park outside Cary. Great for those in the southern part of the triangle.

This is a neat little park. Most of the trails are shaded. They've got a few different parking areas and shelters.

I wish we could give half stars because I feel a 3.5 is more accurate, but we can't so 4 it is. It's a great space for Garner to have and it looks like a ton of work and money went into it originally, but it appears it doesn't get the attention it still needs. We came across so many broken things- bridges with holes from rotting wood, posts falling apart, massive nails sticking out, broken concrete at the main shelter, broken soap dispenser in the bathroom, etc. It's definitely in need of maintenance. And while the park can't help it, it smells pretty bad too, like sewage nearby? However, it has paved paths, playgrounds, shelters, and pretty scenery, so don't let the negatives keep you from visiting. If we happened to be nearby or lived in the area we would visit again. Just make sure you bring hand sanitizer and keep an eye out for anything broken you might need to avoid. read more

This is a lovely venue for festivals and events. We have gone to a bunch of events here with our son and really enjoy the trails. The restrooms are clean. The only odd thing is the sewer smell. I am not sure what is up with that. The parking is across the street and this can be tight when larger events are going on. read more

White Deer Park is a true gem hidden in the "wilds" of the town of Garner. The new Nature Center is just lovely with a public display area and a private educational area. On our visit, we enjoyed holding snakes and observing frogs and turtles. The building is surrounded by a wooden deck that is perfect for outdoor wildlife observation. There are two wonderful playgrounds, several picnic area shelters and plenty of parking. I haven't been on the trails yet but there are apparently 2 miles of paved pathways. The town of Garner has some wonderful events at the White Deer Park. Most recently, we enjoyed the Groundhog day celebration and a lumberjack competition! read more

Out of all of the years that I lived in Garner I never ventured out to White Deer Park. This is definitely the nicest park in the Garner area, in my opinion. And, I did not stumble upon this hidden gem while hunting for Pokemon.. There is so much to do! Five shelters, two playgrounds, two miles of paved trails and a nature center. You can rent out the shelters online at a great rate! I recommend that you check out the largest park in Garner. read more

This is a very nice park and I'm so glad it isn't too far from home. I had walked my dogs on short stretches of the nicely paved paths here last year (my doggies are old and can't go far) but today I went solo to get in a serious walk for myself (sorry Oreo and Muscles!). There is a Nature Center that I'm saving to go into on another occasion but it looked really nice and new. Next to it is a great natural children's playground and lots of nicely built, clean Shelters are scattered about the park to reserve for big groups or just catch one not in use for a picnic with the kids or even a nice outdoor date (okay, so the romantic in me is coming out!). I studied the only "You are Here" map of the area to plan my walk, and the only thing I didn't like is that the paths on the map are not color coded, but the actual paths ARE, so when I did my walk I had no clue as to which path to take to follow the plan I had laid out in my mind. In any case I did okay and didn't get lost (thankfully!) and probably did a mile walk. There is a lot to see along the paths, and I was so glad that many of the curious looking trees and flowers had markers indicating what types they are. Now I know what a Catalpa Tree looks like! Also there were signs along the path pointing out interesting facts and historical notes about things you'll see along the way. I was pleasantly surprised to see there is a Memorial for those lost in the Conagra Foods plant explosion that happened in 2009, which reminded me of the significance of that sad loss. I managed to sneak out during my lunch break today to do this exploration, and I hope it works out for me to keep coming back more often! read more

White Deer Park is such a beautiful and accessible place in Garner... There is something for everyone! Paved roads that is easily accessible for moms with strollers, off road trails with clear markers and trail names, play ground for the kiddos, and dog stations with poop bags! There are also multiple picnic tables that you can rent. The facilities are very clean and there are also many educational opportunities. I thoroughly enjoy every visit! Not very busy the times I've come though. The entrance can be kind of hard to miss, so pay attention! read more

Very nice park! Especially for the young at heart! The playgrounds are most ideal for the under 10 crowd, and twisty, topsy, fun jungle gym and swings. My teens especially liked the two seater kind of see saw, but it was a swing. The paved, winding trails are good for the adventurous! I saw some skateboarders, scooter, and lots of people walking on this beautiful November day! So seeing the White Deer in the nature center, of which the park is named, was very informative about the origins of it. As well as the other nature information. I also liked the open, window filled space where I am sure they will be having nature talks, camps, or possibly rent for functions (size good for about 30-45 people)! It overlooked the woods, very soothing and tranquil with floor to ceiling windows. read more

A friend and I were hitting up yard sales in the area and drove past this park. We decided to stop and walk around for a bit. The park itself was beautiful but the signs denoting trails were SUPER hard to follow. We wanted to do this 2.2 mile trail but could never follow it because the yellow signs were impossible to find. Also, some people found a copperhead when we were walking around and were standing around it poking it. Interesting. read more

As far as the kids are concerned the playgrounds "rock". Quite literally, there is all kinds of topsy turvey equipment to keep the younger crowd pleased. There are also plenty of paved trails that keep the bikers in our group content. And can't forget the dog, she is happy there are empty fields to run in. read more

Today was my first trip out to White Deer with my 3 year old. We went out to watch Mortimer the groundhog declare his position on winter. It was such a great event as well as park! Everything was very organized. I couldn't believe the turnout! There were people directing traffic. I was surprised at the amount of reserved parking spaces. There were some for fuel efficient cars, carpooling people, etc. There were 2 great playground areas that were recently added and lots of green space. There were many activities for the kids. They were able to make headbands with groundhogs on them. Pet the groundhog. Meet the Mayor of Garner. See an owl, falcon, and other types of birds. There were even storytellers from the Southeast Regional Library. On top of all of the great spots for kids there is also a great green-way for running. This is a great spot and I would recommend for anyone. read more

I love White Deer! I've been taking my kids there for years. We love the different playgrounds and the nature trails. I go there to run, the paved running trail is awesome - and there's one that crosses over to the park at Lake Benson. Bonus. They always have cool educational things scheduled there, too. I have only been to a couple of them but they've been fun and engaging for my kids. The bathrooms are well maintained, which is a plus. And the people that work on the grounds are always friendly and helpful. read more

I came here for the 3rd of July fireworks. I liked the open space and the playground setup for the kids. The bouncy castles/obstacles they had set up were pretty decent as was the water balloon contests they were doing. I wasn't a fan of the parking situation with zero lights out there and only orange rope delineating the boundaries and the entry/exit points. The parking area is so dark it could easily cause problems and is a safety concern. The fireworks actually took place way too late for most children to stay up for and we ended up leaving right before they started. Not too bad for a park. Be interesting to come here when there isn't an event and get a better feel for it. read more

My niece Sherry Merritt, graduated yesterday from the University of Mt. Olive. She received a BS in Health Care management. The family is having a graduation dinner at the center this afternoon. This center was highly recommended for social, economic and family group gatherings. Sherry is looking forward to her graduation dinner. This is a beautiful park that has wonderful park activites and really keeps the naturalistic vibe of the park by using wood and munch as opposed to using all metal in the park. The visitors center is a sleek modern addition to the park but still does very little to disrupt the integraty and beauty of the woods. read more

Really great park. The trails are peaceful and both playgrounds are very nice. The city seems to keep things up pretty well and there are activities available at the visitors center. Certain times the geothermal thing gets a bit stinky, but not all the time. That's the only reason I gave 4, not 5, stars. read more

This place is amazing! Love the wood floors and the glass windows all around making for a great Church experience on Sundays at 10AM! The Nature around us makes for a great backdrop for worship and building community. Thanks Garner NC for this great location. read more
