My wife and I had a great trail ride at White Fences. I haven't been on a horse since I was a kid so I needed some good instructions . The owner, Silvia, and one of her trainers were so patient and helpful getting me on my horse and making sure I was totally comfortable before we took off. The trail ride was wonderful and my horse was amazing. It took me back to my youth! I also took a tour of White Fences after my ride and it's absolutely beautiful and well kept. We had our horse at White Fences for many years and were very happy with the service and facility, until last year when the operation was bought by one of the boarders. Since being taken over by the new management in the last part of 2017 under a new business entity White Fences Equestrain Center, LLC Our experience has been painful and frustrating, and finally we decided to leave to because we did not feel our horse was being properly cared for. The old White Fences was run by a world-class trainer with an enormous number of accolades. The jumping instructor was well accomplished, had many awards and recommendations. There seemed to be nearly 100 horses at the barn and a waiting list to get in. In the six months since new management has taken over, the number of horses seems to have dwindled and some people have left the barn. The new 'instructors' appear to be less accomplished, in our estimation. Some of the new instructors appear to be riders who seem to have become instructors after taking a seminar or simply being long-time riders. The owner does not appear to have owned a barn before and seems to have frustrated some of the vendors/labor team, and some appear to have disconnected from the barn. We experienced issues with billing, where invoices showed a different price than what was originally quoted to us and a lack of timely responsiveness when issues were brought up. We hand issues with blanketing our horse in the winter, we had issues with watering/filling water troughs, and issues with horse kicking/contention. When these issues were brought up, the responses we received contained statements like, "I am new at this and learning." I recommend you examine this and any other barn you might use carefully. I highly recommend anyone considering boarding here (or any place else), review the pedigree and experience of the instructors for proper fit to your needs, and read the boarding contract carefully. You should ensure that items are explicitly stated in the contract to protect your needs (you should do this with any contract, not just White Fences) such as: 1. Use of quality water, supplements, and food and frequency provided. 2. A guarantee to maintain a healthy weight. 3. A guarantee to protect the health and wellbeing of the horse. 4. An obligation for timely notification of incidents (8 hours). 5. A a commitment for proper blanketing and other care. 6. A statement not to use images without written permission. I also strongly recommend asking for terms for pricing and services to ensure that your understand how they might change. Ask qualifying questions like: 1. How long have you owned this business? When did you buy it? 2. Have you owned or operated a horse barn before? 3. How many horses have you owned? 4. What certifications, qualifications, training do you have to be an instructor? 5. How many days/hours of formal instructor training do you have? When we left the owner agreed to pay us a pro-rated refund. She paid a partial amount of the refund, but and withheld a portion of our refund, because we asked her to remove any images of us or our horse that she had put on her website without our permission. Be careful and do your homework as you should with any major purchase. read more

So I visited Texas for the first time and my wife decided we had to go horseback riding in the countryside. Great idea! I googled a few places close to Austin that offered trail rides and the prices were all in the $100 range per person. When I saw that All White Fences offered an hour long trail ride for under $100 I was sold. It also helped that they had a website (and that it was user friendly) with plenty or pictures and information about what they do. We called and spoke to Angel who was able to schedule us to go on the same day. It was a thirty minute drive from where we were staying in Austin. The scenery in Manor is gorgeous and made the drive there lots of fun. We thought we were lost for a moment but once we saw the white fences we knew we were in the right place. This isn't really the cowboy hat Texas kinda place that might be expected. Instead the staff trains Dressage riders for competitions. I was able to see some riders training and it was all very elegant. Angel took good care of us and picked some wonderful horses for us to ride and gave us all the necessary instructions. The trail is beautiful with plenty of hills and small areas where the horses will trot a bit. They are wonderfully well-mannered and we had no problems with them. I'm unable to express just how much they did for me; how well-cared for my horse was. Clean equestrian center that has hunter jumpers, dressage, and western for trails. Made reservations with Angel over the phone. She was kind, and defined what exactly the ride would entail. The property is encompassed by white fences hence the name, clean barns and a covered arena. Angel took the time to describe each horses personality that was being ridden, which anyone that rides or has rode knows the importance of knowing those details. Christian led us on the trail through the woods. He was confident, kind and gave advice on riding along the trail. The ride was an hour. Definitely would recommend the trail ride. This place is beautiful, the horses and the people are awesome. I've been a rider since I was 6 years old. And after taking a break for a number of years as an adult, I've decided to jump back in. I've taken a few lessons at different places in and around Austin, and I'm so impressed with White Fences. I love that they have trainers in dressage and hunter-jumper. They hold western trail rides for folks. I've never been to a place that's so diverse. Their trainers are qualified, knowledgable and insightful. They've helped me get my confidence and my form back. And if that weren't enough, they've held clinics at their place with world class dressage trainers such as Bo Jena (who trains the Swedish Olympic dressage team). The horses are amazing, there are some top level horses boarded here and everyone I've met has been so welcoming and kind. The lesson horses are sweet and patient and exactly what I've needed to get back into riding on a regular basis. Silvia and her crew are outstanding. The horses are well cared for and there's always something going on to improve the grounds or care for the horses. The facility is so beautiful, everything is well kept. They have a covered arena and outdoor jumping arena. The trails are fun too. I highly recommend this place wether you're just starting out, or looking to take you and your horse to the next level. On my trip to Austin, I promised myself I would not leave without a horseback trail ride. Coming from Miami, I was really looking forward to it because the only time we get to see a horse is when you know someone who owns one and that is extremely rare. I was expecting something out of a spaghetti western but this place is totally different. It's a half hour drive out of Austin but the drive is scenic and you'll forget how close you are to the city. Angel lead us on the trail and was very nice and friendly to us as inexperienced riders. The horses were very gorgeous and well behaved. The trail is absolutely beautiful and I felt more like a wealthy European rider than a Cowgirl. There are hills and a lake you ride past for some lovely photo ops. The wildlife was much prettier than I expected in the winter, with many trees and flowers. At $60 a person, it was the best deal we found and I'm really glad we chose it for our trail ride. Nice and green setting for a trail ride. The trail guide Angel was very responsive via phone while we were setting up our ride. The horses were well mannered and easy going. The ride has short hills along the way, and depending on your abilities, you can walk or run them. The resident dogs will often accompany you on your entire ride. The facility itself is very well organized and I would be here a lot more often if it wasn't such a big detour from my commute route. This is one of the few local places that starts kids off at the age of 4 (most need you to be 6 or older), so I have hope for my toddler :) read more

Hika and me have been at white fences for the past 6 months or so. The equestrian community in Austin can be overwhelming to an outsider who isn't typically in the 'know' - however while being a part of the community at WF I haven't once felt that way. White fences is the most INCLUSIVE, PROFESSIONAL and overall CONSISTENT equestrian boarding and training facility I have had the good fortune of being a part of. In my opinion they have best equestrian facilities in the greater Austin area - with private turnouts, large green pastures, a picturesque trail, airy stalls (no pesky flies!!!), an awesome covered arena - cared for everyday, huge jumping arena, round the clock care and monitoring (they have cameras for times that they are away from the facility) , stalls/common areas that are cleaned like clock work atleast twice a day, fresh hay and water always available to your horse . Each of my interactions with the owners and trainers has been pleasant and professional always. They are always ready to step in and help anytime you need it. Id like to recount a specific instance when my horse injured her eye with an abrasion on her cornea - I wasn't at the facility but the trainer spotted the injury , notified the owner right way - who in addition to notifying me was one step ahead and had notified the doctor on call. Given the sensitive nature of the injury the doctor was on site immediately and the owners/barn help provided treatment to Hika's eye on an hourly basis round the clock for multiple weeks until her eye healed. During this time the barn/training staff were so supportive of Hikas treatment and doing everything they could to help her heal - treating her like their own horse. Given that I have a demanding job that requires me to travel for weeks at a time - I havent felt this comfortable leaving my horse under someone else care. There is an air of comfort and calmness thats hard to quantify in words or numbers. The barometer of change will be reflected in the way your horse feels- after our move to white fences there was a measurable difference to Hika's demeanor - she is carefree, comfortable - photos of her sleeping with no care in the world at night are proof of that haha and running around/ rolling in the dirt/grass in the pastures when she is turned out! I highly recommend white fences equestrian center. If you are new to the equestrian community or an someone who has been boarding/training elsewhere - you and more so your HORSE :-) will notice the the positive difference right way in more than on way. read more

We had very enjoyable ride today with Silvia as our guide. The horses, Charlie Brown and Copper both had good dispositions and needed very little movement of the reins. Their grooming was very good- we didn't come back smelling of horses as I expected. The trail was was varied with small hills and kept our interest. Sylvia saw to our needs, the saddles were comfy and the stirrups adjusted perfectly. The facility is beautiful and clean. Staff and everyone else was very friendly. This is an update from my 2018 review. I have been a happy client of this equestrian center for 2 years now. I have tried 4 other barns before. This is the most professional barn in the Austin area that I have experienced thus far, both in terms of the infrastructure and the service. Your horse gets individual, customized attention, both in diet and care. Sure, you pay for extras and add-ons, but they are reasonably priced. There is even a winter blanketing program (flat-fee, they will blanket your horse whenever the temperature drops) and a blanket washing service. The individual private paddocks are the largest I've seen in the area. Not only does the arena have proper footing (not just sand), it is covered, and it has mirrors. There is also an outdoor sand arena with jumps. The lesson horses are safe. There are no crazy barn dogs that bark at you or bite you. Nothing here is broken, or dismal, or half-assed. Nobody here is cruel, thoughtless or mercenary. Quite the opposite. I have high standards and they are always met or exceeded. If your horse is like your child and if boarding your horse is like sending your child away to boarding school, you will probably enjoy boarding at this place. read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. Having always owned horse property, moving to boarding at a shared facility has been a rough change and I have experienced dreadful barns with complex politics, dramatics and a lack of care and oversight for the horses. I moved my horse from Chicago in June and after touring more that 6 facilities in Austin I chose WF without question. Silvia is engaging, very present and always available. She was so helpful with the move and a string of events that happened with my horse having a hard time adjusting to the climate. This was a level of care and compassion I have NEVER experienced at another boarding facility and I know to be very rare. The horses are allowed to be horses here, they all have turnout and are not confined to stall boarding 24/7. The horses are truly happy and that's what matters most. The facilities are always clean and well taken care of. The facility amenities are amazing. I believe WF has one of the only covered arenas in the area and they also have round pens, an outdoor arena and trails for use. Everyone at the barn is super friendly and personable. The trainers are encouraging and there isn't any barn politics for boarders, lessoners and english vs western divisions. I only hear amazing feedback from people who have been at the barn longer than I have. I could not recommend it enough if you are looking for a new boarding facility or are interested in lessons/ trail rides. read more

We found White Fences online while searching for a place to do a surprise Mother's Day trail ride. Angel took great care of us. The trails are reasonably well-groomed with nice elevation changes, plenty of wildflowers and a lot of greenery. The horses were healthy and well-mannered and the overall facility is well-designed and meticulously maintained. Their core business is clearly the show-jumping/dressage crowd, but the folks in jodhpurs didn't make us feel odd for our jeans and t-shirts attire. We packed a lunch and enjoyed a post-ride picnic on a tree-shaded picnic table behind the stables with a nice view of the uncovered show ring. (Their covered ring is very well-done as well.) All in all, a great trip. At $60/person it's a bit of a hit on the wallet (but no more so than a downtown Austin Segway tour), so be ready to pay out and enjoy your time. We expect to make a return visit at some point. read more

Great for an afternoon trail ride. Angel, the trail leader, is amazing and the facility is very clean However, if you are looking to board a horse, READ THE CONTRACT CAREFULLY! The boarding contract calls for a 60 day termination, and your deposit is not refunded for months after you finish out the contract. If your horse is sold or needs additional care elsewhere, you are still liable for paying board.... even with no horse. The owner will not even attempt to work with you. The barn has many "rules" that one discovers after they have moved there. That all being said, the owner is a fantastic teacher. Her lessons are very pricey, and just like the boarding contract, you must make sure you completely understand the policies. Beautiful facility, but I did not find this barn to be a great fit for me. read more

I've been riding at White Fences for 6 years and boarding there for 5 years. I primarily take hunter jumper lessons with Gina and bought my first horse - a lesson horse that I'd been leasing for a year - at her suggestion. Gina is one of the rare riding instructors who understands the horses and the riders. She always knows what I'm thinking, why my horse reacts a certain way, and helps me improve my ride. Her lessons always challenge me without overfacing me. If she tells me to do something, I know that I am capable of doing it. I've gone to many horse shows with Gina. She's fantastic at prepping riders for the shows. When we get to the shows, she always sets a few goals for us to work on and is very encouraging throughout our rides. It's wonderful to have a supportive trainer who is just as excited as I am when we have a good trip. On top of all this, White Fences is gorgeous. They have 65 acres of property, beautiful trails to cool down after a lesson or relax, a large jump arena and a covered ring for dressage and rainy days. Whatever you want to do, they offer it. And they take impeccable care of all the horses - they definitely go the extra mile. I can't imagine being anywhere else. read more

I called to book on weekend for my daughter and I, but they were full. So I booked on Wednessday. Angel was very nice on the phone, took her time talking with me. When we get there, I was first of all happy to see the area and facility. Very nice area and clean nice facility. I'm no expert, but all the horses appears to be taken good care of. Angel assigned us horses. She gave nice clear instructions to all of us. Once on the trail, it was well maintained but enough ups and downs and turns to keep us interested. It was hot day but the trail was not hot at all. I've done trail rides with other places before (not in TX), but this was by far the best. I highly recommend White Fences. read more

We went for a trail ride this weekend and had a wonderful time! Angel was our trail guide and she was fantastic! She is a sweetheart and very good at her job. She matched each one of us with the perfect horse to fit our riding experience. She also took care to keep an eye on all of us throughout the ride, making sure we were ok and pointing out potential hazards, like fallen limbs and one certain tree that the horses like to rub their sides on. :) She was good about giving instruction to my 10-year-old and had him right behind her so she could keep a closer watch on him. This was the first trail ride for both of my kids, ages 10 and 12, and they were both able to handle their horses with no trouble at all. They did great and had the best time! We weren't even out of the driveway and they were asking when we were coming back. :) Definitely one of the most fun family outings we've ever had! read more

We had discovered this place from a Groupon regarding birthday parties. We booked the birthday party for my daughter and sister. The facility is pretty, however, a little difficult to find. When we first tried calling the place to set up a date for the party it took days for them to call back each time. On the day of the party, we did get there a few minutes late as it was a little hard to find the place. When we walked down to the table area, Angel came over to have us sign the waivers and discuss what was going to take place. The area with the tables was not well kept and very dirty. Appears that no one attempted to wipe off the tables or have decent tables to use. Angel was very rude and condescending to everyone. Most people had never been around horses and had questions that may have seemed not so intelligent to more experienced horse people but still they were valid questions. No one of us live on farms or grew up around horses. She was very short with everyone. She proceeded to explain that the children should not run or yell as that would scare the horses, however she was constantly yelling about something. It was ridiculous that they would let the dogs just roam all over the place and even jumping on top of tables to try to eat our food. She had to yell at the dogs numerous times to get them to get off tables. The dogs did not listen to her very well either. She also bragged about her $300 sunglasses, which was very tasteless. I would never go back to this place and do not recommend it for birthday parties. Maybe Angel is better suited for adults or some people that at least have some experience with horses but other than that she really needs to learn some people skills. read more
