The beauty rooms are at the back of the shop behind a sliding door, which keeps them quite private. The beauty therapists are wonderful and very knowledgeable. The hair salon is always clean and the staff are absolutely fantastic. They are always on hand if you need help/advice or just a simple fringe trim. There is also a nail bar which I have never used but it always looks like a real treat. Prices are not too bad, cheaper than city centre and you really do get what you pay for (and a little bit more from TBW).

I tried to resolve it with the salon and it went nowhere - so it's going to get blasted on Yelp. Such is life on the interwebs! We had two appointments booked simultaneously. I, for a pedicure, waxing and haircut... and my boyfriend to get a (manly version of a) pedicure and haircut. I guess I'll first say that his pedicure was done by someone else and was a positive experience. His haircut was subpar and the woman who did it did not really listen and cut a few too many inches despite us both telling her directly how many inches to cut. Since then he's been pretty unhappy with it. Tsk tsk. Men are pretty touchy about such things. Especially men who walk in with a lot of hair, but he sucked it up regardless.. Now moving on to my appointment.. I was told that my pedicure would be done on a table (weird) and without water (also weird) by a woman named Janice who I later found out was the owner/manager. Since there was no traditional pedicure chair or even a basin presented for soaking, it was painful. She poked me quite a bit throughout the process, and overall it was nowhere near the relaxing pedicure I had so hoped to receive. My boyfriend's feet did get a proper soak from another technician so apparently only Janice prefers to not use water. As a person she was nice enough, she made the usual small talk but it just was not relaxing and that sucked since it was *not* cheap and I had so looked forward to having a nice pedicure. The waxing she did was fine. The haircut I got from a woman I do not remember the name of was fine; it was just a trim. The real problem began when I got home and saw that all that poking on my feet that had stung so much started to hurt more and more... and the big toe in my right foot became infected. I had to treat it (blood, pus and all) for several weeks afterwards and it's actually still a bit of an issue as I type this. I keep my feet really clean and am very careful with where I go for pedicures, so it really frustrates me to have this kind of issue after the expense of it. I wrote to the salon a couple weeks after the appointment and let them know what the situation was and the owner (Janice) wrote back to briefly apologize and then repeatedly assert that she was the owner (good for you..) and to say I should come in for another appointment to look at the toe. I reminded her that 1.) I do not *live* in Edinburgh and 2.) I saw no point in another appointment for an infected toe, even if I did. I mean seriously? There was no response after that. Normally a place of business would offer to refund the service or something along those lines, but no. So I would not go back here, definitely not.

Now what good hair is, will be a subjective point of view, but for me it is manageable and generally shiny and healthy looking as a result of a great cut. I first reviewed Angel Hairdressing about 3 months ago on my first visit. It's a local salon and after standing by it waiting for the bus for 2 years, I decided to give it a go when my budget couldn't stretch to a posh town salon do. So now, it is review No.200 and it had to be a 5 * review. Even though I my last hair cut was 3 months ago - I hadn't actually reached hair crisis point. My style had held perfectly even when growing and it was only as it really started to thicken up again (and growing very quickly) that I decided to cut it back again. It is probably the first hair cut that I've had where I've left a salon, the do has lasted a good few days before I had to wash and dry myself and it has been something I have been able to recreate myself, abet in Claire form, and not hairdresser form. Again - same fab cut. It is a small salon with one sink and 4 chairs. There are two stylists - Lisa who I think is the owner and Kerry who cuts my hair and who I think is fab. Same wet and dry cut as before - still in about 50 minutes even though my shape from last time had still held well, so again, great attention to detail to ensure my hair is perfect. Fab friendly and cheery service and great prices - still £28 for a cut and blow dry and I think it is under £15 for a wash and blow dry. It is not a tea/coffee and a biccy type place but to be honest, I never got the chance to have that any time before as when the cutting starts, that lean forward to get the cuppa could result in hair catastrophe and I'm not stupid enough to risk that. Busy weekend ahead with work and catching up with friends and I'm enjoying my glossy, well cut hair. Secondly of course would be the lovely staff. I've been served by the same hairdresser both my trips, and she remembered me the second go round, which makes for a pleasant welcome. Size-wise, It's a small joint, but more than enough room for the ladies to perform their miracles, and it feels reasonably homey inside. What seals the deal for me is the prices are totally reasonable--I've seen some places that make my eyes practically roll back in my head around town, and I've never been one to willingly shell out a week's paycheck for my hair. But Angel has fair prices to match the excellent service. My first go featured a simple cut, the second, a full coloring, and I'd give five stars to each venture. This is definitely my go-to salon! Extra perk: I was offered a cup of coffee or tea while waiting for my color to set. Don't mind if I do!

Last time I visited, they did not do fake tans, but I was advised that this is something they were going to do in the future, so it would be worth checking it out! The hairdressers all have 5+ years of experience and all staff are chatty. The salon is clean with a massive picture on the ceiling above where your hair gets washed so that you have something interesting to look at. With magazines for customers to read whilst waiting and the offer of tea/coffee or juice whilst getting your hair done. it's one of those hairdressers you can call and go to that week, no large waiting lists but you walk away with a fantastic haircut at a great price!

I called this salon on the off chance and guess what they could not only take me in but also at a time which was within an hour of me calling. I arrived there early and was offered a coffee and was even taken in early. The shampooing was nice and relaxing and Sam who cut my hair today was attentive to my needs and did a lovely job at styling and shaping my hair exactly how I wanted it. Definitely up for coming back, just wished the prices were not so high. Extra bonus point for Sam was as I was leaving to find somewhere to shape my brows, my next no appointment mission... Sam checked with their beautician if they could take me. Not this time though.

From the start it was…read moreclear that he was not going to let me explain how I wanted my hair cut, as he was so busy telling me what he thought I should have done. I eventually was able to let him know what I wanted and about half way through the haircut I realised he had totally ignored me and done what he wanted. I was really upset as have been growing my hair for about 2 years and he took 4 inches off it, as oppossed to the 1 inch I asked for, he also started using a razor on the back before I stopped him and had to ask him to stop altogether. Terrible service, after which he was totally unapologetic, would have expected more from the owner,will not be returning.

I have very unruly super curly hair and always wanted it long but it never grew passed my shoulders. So I gave her freedom to do whatever. She made is short and so easy to maintain!!! I am going back tomorrow now three months later :) Also she does not tell me what I have to do, but works around how I treat my hair which is great. She said 'I cant train your hands', which makes sense as I am used to moving through my hair in a certain way for ages now. Having curly hair, I've been traumatised many many times since being a little girl coming from hair dressers. I have to say, this is one of the best experiences I ever had! So happy I found it!

before i start this review, i have to mention it relates to one particular hair dresser that works…read morefrom this salon. the lovely rachel, who i have been going to for a number of years, but who is sadly leaving the hairdressing world in june :( moving to another country i struggled to find a hairdresser i really liked and who did what i wanted but were sure to advise me that what i wanted might not suit me. i went from one hairdresser to the next, paying varying degrees of money in search of the perfect hair. then i found rachel and alas my hair was happy. she worked in a few different salons but moved to the doll's house about two years ago and i have to say this is a really lovely place to go. i've not had a great deal of experience with the other girls that work here, but the shop is always clean and well maintained, i always get a friendly greeting and a nice cup of tea from the junior assistants. i also always leave with a happy head of hair that has been styled well and dyed to a lovely colour while my wallet remains suitably in tack as it's very reasonably priced. i'm not too sure if i'll continue to go here after rachel leaves as it's rather out of my way. it's tempting though as i know i'll get good service so will make my journey worth it.

Prices are fair and I've stopped having that fear you can get when your hair is in foils and you wonder just what the end result will be.
