One of the best trail riding experiences I've had. As an advanced rider who has owned and ridden show horses I am often disappointed with lesson and trail horses who want to go head to tail. After evaluating my experience level, Sue gave me a wonderfully trained horse, who was exactly the sort of horse I wanted (very forward and energetic ) and responsive to all signals. She showed me several of her other horses who were very safe and calm for beginners . The trail ride was beautiful and we trotted and cantered when we wished. I don't do too many reviews but I had to write one on this ranch. I signed my daughter up to do a lesson with Susan and at the last minute decided to join them and I must say I am so happy I did! We had the BEST time ever. It was so much fun not at all what I expected from a horseback riding lesson. She is an amazing teacher and really helps you to connect with the horse. I would recommend her to anyone interested in getting there child lessons. I was really trying to find something positive for my daughter to get involved in being we lost her dad and my husband this last mothers day and this was the best thing I could have done for both of us. It was one of the most positive experiences I've had in a very long time! I've been riding with Susan for a few months now and I love the different options she offers, and how you learn something new every day. She focuses on improving your skills in all areas related to horseback riding as well as what it takes to own and care for a horse. She is a great teacher and most importantly puts the well-being of her horses (and riders!) first. One of the best things that I ever did for my daughter was signing her up for horseback riding lessons with Susan Harris at White Horse Polo Ranch in Escondido. My daughter started with basic lessons, and eventually progressed to day-long rides in the mountains. Susan quickly became a friend and mentor to my daughter. Susan is an amazing teacher with incredible patience. We moved out of the country two years ago, but we recently came back for a visit. I have ridden and been around horses for decades, and Susan is one of the best all-around horse care and riding instructors I have encountered. I would trust her to teach any of my friends. I started riding with Susan about 3 years ago. I learned of her through a veterinarian colleague of mine (I am a veterinarian). I had always wanted to ride horses but really had no formal training. I had ridden as a child (a little) then on tourist type trail rides. My vet friend suggested trail rides with Susan. Her rates were so reasonable that I started taking lessons with her immediately and then went on trail rides weekly. I told my brother, a mechanic at a local horse racetrack, about her and he started taking riding lessons. Then he started to play in arena polo and I started playing polo as well. Susan is a very cautious instructor. She doesn't allow any riders to ride a horse without a helmet. She starts them off in a small arena on the property. She will instruct the very basics. Will work up from the walk, to the trot, to the canter. Today, we went out on a ride in Daley Ranch with 2 young riders. We kept it slow but then as we progressed, we went faster. The young riders wanted to go even faster! Susan takes very good care of her horses. (Nutrition, worming, vaccinating, farrier, tooth care, and so forth). What else can I say?
