After a fellow Yelper's recommendation of this place, I just had to try it and now (luckily for my…read morehealth, unluckily for my purse) I'm hooked. I'd passed this little shop many a time on my wanders through the Lanes and never actually realised it was a juice shop. The exterior tricks you into thinking it's a sweet but grungy little health store, when in fact it is so much more... To a juicing newbie this place might be a bit intimidating - there are no big, clear menu signs or welcoming tables and chairs to sit down at - but don't let this put you off. The man that served me was very helpful and offered advice on what ingredients would go well with each other, so don't be afraid to ask for tips if you're unsure what to buy. The atmosphere is also very relaxed, so you can easily take your time to choose without feeling rushed or panicked. In terms of options, there are so many things to choose from. Not only can you personalise your own juice, picking from a mixable list of fruit and vegetables, you can add on things like wheatgrass and other extras to give yourself an added boost for the day. I'm no health buff, but it was clear than they stocked a vast range of healthy and energising ingredients to add into your juice, if you so pleased, so if you're looking for an extra energy buzz before the gym or a wake-up drink in the morning, then this is probably the place for you! I opted for an 'ABC juice' upon the man's recommendation: apple, beetroot and carrot, with added ginger and lime (my own personal request). It was veerrrry tasty - so fresh, with great flavours - and the large glass came to £4.30, which is really reasonable in my opinion. They even allowed me to pay on card for this, as it was over £4, which was very handy indeed. Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed!! Great service, great juice and great atmosphere. I can't wait to go back and keep trying out new combinations!
The Guarana bar is a great place for all sorts of things…read more Firstly, as you would expect, it sells guarana, and you can get it in tablets, powder or drinks. They have seating there, so you can grab a guarana drink and hang out for a while - a good alternative to a coffee stop perhaps? They also sell other assorted natural supplements of various types. For those wanting something a little stronger, they sell a decent range of legal highs (both here and at some festivals, which they take a stall to). Speaking of festivals, they often sell tickets to local festivals and other events, and always have a good range of flyers and other information.

Pretty good all round really. Staff are overworked and underpaid, as in most NHS hospitals but many…read moreof them seem to genuinely enjoy and take pride in their work. The speed of discharges has vastly improved within the last couple of years - if they tell you you can go home in the morning, then you are usually good to go, prescriptions and all within a couple of hours. Food leaves an awful lot to be desired, but then who ever really fancies eating when in hospital?! There is a cafe, staff restaraunt (which patients may use) and a shop, plus various vending machines. A&E is a bit hit and miss with waiting times - can appear empty yet you wait several hours, but also can appear absolutely packed and you'll be seen within the hour. On the whole the entire hospital does the job it's supposed to, and usually with a smile! One word of warning - take change for parking with you. If you don't you are likely to pay a far higher price with a ticket and there really is very limited, if any off site parking in the surrounding area.
I had to go here today for an appointment arranged by an insurance company after a road accident,…read moreas I don't normally have private health cover. The hospital's worst facet is its location - located in Woodingdean, it's a good 20 minutes plus from the centre of Brighton (allow 30 minutes in rush hour) and the bus services are not that frequent in the evening. There's plenty of parking on the site though - just don't try driving there if there's a race meeting on at nearby Brighton racecourse. The interior of the modern building feels more like a budget hotel than a hospital, with carpet and sofas but bland décor in the spacious reception, and everything in good order and kept clean. Waiting rooms have free coffee and tea available - part of the difference between the private and state sectors, I guess. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, from the reception to the treatment room, and the treatment itself - physiotherapy - was very thorough indeed and gave the impression that they all the time that I might needed.

It still sells all the same stuff as it did years ago, although their stock ha expanded greatly as I guess more and more people have become health conscious over the years. It's a great place to get food if you're a vegan, vegetarian or have any specific dietary requirements (coeliac etc). I often get supplements from here too, and they often have their famous penny sale (buy one item, get another for a penny). It's also a handy place for buying items like almond/coconut flour, dried fruit and herbal sweets.

Until recently I visited the doctors maybe once every three years. I don't know what's happened to…read moreme recently, but in my boyfriend's words, I seem to be 'permanently broken'! As I have visited the campus Health Centre at least once a week for the past couple of months, I feel I am in a perfect position to be reviewing their services! What can I say? The waiting room is nothing special...white plastic garden furniture isn't exactly the height of comfort and whilst I'm not normally one to comment on waiting room furnishings, the wait in this surgery can be long, so naturally, one begins to look around. In fact its a great place for people watching! This is an extremely busy place- it services many students as well as staff and faculty of the university. The staff are all lovely (except for one woman who is unfailingly rude) but they do tend to overrun quite seriously- I have at times, waited 45 minutes beyond my appointment time. I guess this is probably okay if you're a first year student with limited obligations (lets be honest!) but as a member of staff, I feel a bit guilty about popping off for over an hour just to pick up a prescription! That said, the benefit of appointments overrunning is that the staff really take their time with you- I have never been rushed out and have always been given the opportunity to discuss multiple issues- they'll give you as much time as you need. For this reason I'm giving four stars- because caring, professional staff who take a genuine interest in your health is what a doctors surgery should be all about! One star off for uncomfy plastic chairs.

The staff are really friendly and there're loads of experienced nurses on hand to deal with your typical student dramas - they are particularly trained in areas like sexual health for example. The service is a bit slow as they run morning drop ins, which most people attend instead of booked appointments. Further to that, you'll see a nurse first who'll decide whether your problem merits needing to see a doctor. This is very annoying when you know it does, and means waiting twice, even if you have pre-booked your appointment with a doctor. That's my only qualm with the place though - the nurses are all really well-trained, warm and helpful.
