The White Lake Inn on Rt 28 is a rollicking good place offering food and drink in the North Country...live music and events with an internet jukebox. The night I stumbled in was Steak and Clam day...we put away 7-8 rounds of drinks and four platters for about 80 bucks...I was impressed on how fresh the cherrystone clams were so far inland. Lots of parking.. cute bartenders who know how to handle surly pikers like myself and a very typical North woods clientele I would guess that if you were backpackers from Belgium or Chinese engineers touring the Adirondacks this would be a good place to stop and sample local fare. I've eaten here 3 times this summer (2026). The first time there were quite a few people, the food was great, and the service was okay. The second time there were a lot of people, the food was great, however it took at least an hour to get a hamburger and a sandwich. The third time we ordered a pizza for takeout. We were told 20 to 25 minutes, and we got there about 30 minutes after the order was placed. There were very few people and only one who was eating, and an hour after placing the order we had an undercooked and pretty tasteless pizza. Blonde lady behind the bar was drunk it took 40 minutes just for her to take my order and I don't think she knew what I was saying, considering I got the wrong food. Chicken was raw. The kitchen staff was no where to be found and the blond lady almost fell over. I think it's illegal to serve people alcohol while being drunk. There was a cut straw and white residue all over the women's restroom. The restaurant had two delinquents out back smoking what looked to be weed. One large one and one very very tiny one. Kitchen staff was immature. Never coming back and I don't recommend this place to anyone read more

Recommended stop! We got two burgers and a kids chicken finger meal. It was excellent! They were busy, but the wait was worth it. They have inside seating, bar seating and outside seating. The outside is a patio style with live music as well! We had brought our dogs so we couldn't stay inside but it was just as nice to look at the water and eat. The staff was very nice. read more

Stopped here for a bite to eat after hiking a mountain in the Adirondacks. A nice location, right across the street from the lake. A solid, but nothing special bar and grill. I had wings, which were pretty good and fries which were meh. I washed them down with an ice cold Utica Club. Cold beer and ok food. Was up for a week and decided to check it out. It was a Saturday around 9pm. The place looked closed until we saw the door opened around the side and the closer we got we could here music. Seems to be a local hang out. I came to this conclusion by the amount of cars outside and the 3x the amount of people in the bar. The bar was on probably 15 total in the bar. Talk with a local and said it's a slamming hang out in the winter for snowmobiling. Well unfortanly it is summer. The food was ok. I ordered wings. They were very chewy or rubbery or stretchy. Don't know just not what I'm used to. The reason for 3 stars is because I could not tell if they were open and the lack of taste. And the locals did not care if u were playing darts they would walk in front as you shot your darts. Over the summer, my husband and I are still taking Covid precautions but missed eating out. Durning the middle of the week, mid afternoon we enjoy driving to the Inn and eating on their patio outside. Average bar food, we love the fries. We also have been very pleased with the girls who have served us. (we tip on performance not the tip scale). read more

Visited this place twice while on vacation. Once I ate in the restaurant, Very casual. The fish fry was typical but good. Simple salad bar was an accompaniment. Roast beef was good comfort food The second time we takeout pizza. This was very disappointing. We called ahead, was given 1/2 hour wait time. We arrived at that time, and the waitress was abrupt, and didn't know about the order. Was told to pay at the bar- which was hopping at 5pm, which took about 5 minutes. Returned to aforementioned waitress, and was told to wait. Grabbed a couple of drinks (again with a wait) ,and settled in. I noticed 3 pizzas leave the one kitchen (our order) but no one came to her us. After 10 minutes I hunted down the pizzas waiting in the other kitchen. I was a bit taken aback, at this point. The pizza was very dissapointing. The crust was like a frozen one. Sauce was mediocre. When I ordered, at 4:30, I was told that Pizza Joe's wasn't there until 5, but White Lake did do pizza, when I asked the difference, there was no clarity. Will never order it again! read more

Called and ordered prime rib, since they claim to serve it everyday. When I picked it up, I was told they didn't have prime rib, after I had already paid. They then gave me sirloin and then tried to tell me that the sirloin was more expensive. In fact, the sirloin is $7 cheaper. They also forgot to include my side salad that comes with the meal. The mashed potatoes were gross and the sirloin was absolutely terrible. The only edible thing were the mushrooms on the steak. So gross. Definitely disputing the charges with my cc company.This place is such a scam. Don't even stop here. C'mon, know what you have and don't claim to have prime rib everyday when you seem to rarely have it. Such a disappointment. Definitely won't go back. read more

First of all Eli U, should change his name to " I LIE", I was in the White Lake Inn the night of August 3rd, it was very busy and the bartender was overwhelmed, a bunch of young guys came in and tried to order drinks, the bartender, doing her job, asked for I.D. and only one of them started to complain that she was being unfair, so she looked over at the owner who was relaxing at the bar with me, a new customer who just moved to the area. She wanted him to check their I.D, the same young man started to rant about their age and became irritated, I stepped in to calm him down and at the same time his friends were also telling him to calm down,not the owner. I told him it doesn't matter how old he was the business has to ask for i.d so he doesn't loose his license, and in this case he looked younger than my 14 year old son. I told him that, not the owner! I was trying to help so that they could hang out. But his attitude got them tossed out. His friends seemed fine but by this time it was too late. Maybe he misunderstood the situation because he already had a little drink in him, but if you act like a chowder head there's a good chance you and your friends will be thrown out of any place of business. Also, who is Linda S.? and why is she commenting on this review when she has no idea what happened? I agree that racism has no room in OUR country, but clearly this was not the case here! If you're staying in the area you really don't have many options for restaurants and bars unless you want to drive 30-40 minutes. That being said, you can't really expect super high quality establishments. I've had mixed experiences here. Sometimes the food comes out quick and the service is good (Sunday nights?). Other times an order of wings can take an hour (Wednesday wing night). If you're ok with a bartender with a bit of an attitude, you shouldn't have any problem here. I usually end up getting a couple beers and a burger. The burgers are pretty good as long as you don't make any special requests. I mean, they are just as likely to make it the way they want to as they are to make it the way you ordered it, but even then they turn out pretty good if you're not too picky. I think that brings me back to the beginning of my review. As long as you're not too picky, the white lake in is just fine. read more

Stopped by on 10/13/19 on the way back from a day in Old Forge to get a bite to eat. It was our first time and he had heard the food was great. Although there were many cars in the parking lot, we were able to get a table right away. Waitress brought menus, drinks and salads right away. After that, everything went downhill. It was apparent the kitchen was slow because many people around us looked like they had been waiting a long while for their food. Our waitress passed by our table SEVERAL times within the 40 MINUTES we sat waiting for our food to be served without an explanation as to why there was a wait or an offer to refill our drinks (the glasses were empty for at least 20 minutes) When she finally brought our food, she gave a short "sorry for the wait" reply and we didn't see her again until she brought us our check. The burger was not cooked to order and the french fries were over done. We understand that the slow kitchen is not the waitress's fault, but expect the waitress to be as attentive as possible until our food was ready. Very disappointed in the service as well as the food. We don't plan on stopping again on our way too or from Old Forge. Too bad....we make frequent trips up Route 28. read more

Arrived in the area just before midnight on Friday pretty much starving. It was hard to tell if the place was an actual inn (with sleeping accommodation) or just a tavern. Turns it it's the latter. It was also hard to tell if it was still open until we drove into the parking lot and saw the side door open. The dining rooms were closed but the bar was hopping. Felt like a local hangout and the folks seemed to know one another. Nice bartender took care of us quickly and was kind enough to talk to the gentleman in the kitchen to see if he was willing to fix us a bite. He was happy to do so and we really lucked out. His pizza was nothing short of delicious. And that's coming from a pretty picky eater who loves a good Brooklyn pie. Turns out the pizza is made by "Pizza Joe" and it's quite the artisan pie. It's not the place you go looking for craft brews and premium brown spirits. It's a great little spot for friendly service, good music and damn good pizza! I'll update my review when I'm back in the area next month. Definitely returning to try additional fare. read more
