The pain was radiating from my lower back to right arm and hand. It was painful to type, stand up and to simply move my arm! Heck, I couldn't drive myself either. Stricken with worry, I wanted to try something new and so my partner drove me here and after the first session, I FELT SO MUCH BETTER. I wasn't cured immediately, but I was able to drive myself home! The process was easy, I came in and told the doctor I wanted to try acupuncture and I was on the table after a 15 minute discussion as to where the pain was coming from and what I do everyday. I continued coming here for 2 1/2 months and maybe 20-30 min. sessions every other week. I felt so much better. It takes time for nerves to regenerate/repair and the acupuncture helped tremendously. I recall at the time and doing my own online research, that people say it take 6-12 months for damaged nerves to get better and I do feel back to normal again. I wouldn't be where I am today without the help of this place. This much I do know. I've seen trendy acupuncture places in the city and they never last. This one is the real deal. The wait times were pretty short. I was worried about trying acupuncture because the only previous time I had tried it was when I was a kid, and I remember being terrified when the acupuncturist said he was going to hook the needle up to electricity. Chris put my worries to rest. I went for 4 acupuncture sessions to try and induce labor. I really thought it was going to work, but alas -- my daughter was too comfortable in there & wasn't ready to come out. I ended up being induced at 41 weeks anyway. Not for lack of trying!!!! I still think I would return for labor induction acupuncture in any future pregnancy/pregnancies. Why 4 stars instead of 5? 2 reasons: (1) I didn't go into labor (but keep in mind, everyone's body is different & every pregnancy is different). (2) Also during one treatment I started to feel lightheaded/dizzy because of the semi-reclined position (I was 40 weeks pregnant). I spoke up and asked for help, and I also knocked on the wall, but I guess no one could hear me through the door. I didn't want to yell because that seemed like an overreaction & it wasn't like I was dying, I was just uncomfortable. It would have been nice to have a bell or some kind of way to signal "I need assistance."

I wanted to use holistic and natural solutions before turning to prescription medications or doing any invasive procedures. Dr. Janice helped me finally get pregnant after exactly 1 year of treatment with her! She is very patient and attentive. I love how passionate she is about helping her patients and I trust her.   In Chinese medicine, your pulse, tongue, skin, basal body temperature, and symptoms tell a thorough story of your state of health. All of these are taken into consideration during the herbal treatments and herbal dosage/formulation requires adjustments as your organ systems adjust to find a balance. As a healthcare professional myself, I will admit the logic and explanations were not always super clear to me, but having come from a family that practices Eastern medicine and herbalism I trusted that these methods have stood the test of time. Dr. Janice gave me dry powder herbs to take by mouth twice daily. She offers capsule formulation as well, but I opted for the powder to mix like tea. It tastes earthy but not bad. My basal temperature chart started out looking very erratic, resembling an EKG. After several months of treatment, the chart gradually looked more and more normal with a smoother curve and a more distinctive spike during ovulation so I knew it was working. With these treatments, I was able to quit coffee early on without side effects and would only drink it occasionally for enjoyment, not because I needed it to function. This herbal method requires work and faith on your end. Consistency is key for taking your herbs each day, recording morning basal temperature, eating a balanced and nutritious diet, getting enough rest, managing stress, and documenting your symptoms throughout the month to report back in detail. I also switched my household and skin care products to organic stuff because it wouldn't hurt to detox from those chemicals. In combination with the herbal and accupuncture, I continued to see my obgyn, had an HSG, transvaginal ultrasound, blood work, and the whole fertility workup. These labs helped Dr. Janice focus on some of my trouble spots (like ovarian cysts). About 10 months into my treatment, Dr. Janice felt my body was strong and balanced enough to start trying to conceive. Month 11, we made a few adjustments to my herb dosage. Month 12, I got pregnant!
