Had the worst experience with White Mountain Mining. We were there for an hour and half before getting our meal and had not had a drink refill until 5 minutes before. The steak that was ordered "medium rare" was cold and completely rare. We had to take it home and cook it ourselves. I called to talk to manager, but they were "unavailable". Full bar with nice wine & beer selections. Menu is full range from appetizers, soup & salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. Chicken noodle soup was homemade and the ideal start to our meal on a chilly night. Generous portion of grilled halibut was delicious and perfectly cooked. Yummy double baked potato. Our waitress, Layla, was friendly and attentive. The entire staff wished us good evening and safe travels as we left. We will definitely be back when we travel through Wyoming again. read more

Took a client out for dinner the other night at this restaurant, was supposed to be fine dining. The food was absolutely horrible yet I didn't complain about it till my client wife said that they was enough grease in hers to fry French fries his plate was no better. The burger was smaller than a White Castle burger. My steak was charred on the outside and didn't receive all of my food. The waitress didn't even know what was on the night special let alone make sure we had what we needed. The flat wear and glasses was filthy I could go on but for what. $256.00 later we should have went to Apple bees down the road and save $175.00. I or them want be back and I for sure will tell my people that is not the place to go for anything. read more

Had a meeting with 10 people and the seating area is comfortable and not noisy. However the food was not good - at all. The clam chowder only contained bacon and potatoes, the "Shrimp Scampi" for $23 consisted of 6 shrimps, and old, reheated, awful tasting french fries. My boss had the Halibut and it was chewy... Wow this place is sketchy from the outside - just how I like it :) Unfortunately I went in thinking I was gonna sit at the bar and meet my cowboy husband - only to see the bar was COMPLETELY empty and everyone was coupled up in the dining room. First time to Rock Springs wanting to treat my sister who moved here less than a year ago to a great steak dinner. Let me say first that our server Madison was great!.. after that .. ummmm.. just ok. 2 petite filets and 1 Cajun catfish... just not so great, especially for the prices they charge! A friend and I drove 40 miles to try this place. We dined on a Wednesday night. We both had the Ribeye and king crab. The steak was very bland and tough. The crab was okay. The baked potatoes were very dry with no seasoning on the skin. They were also extremely small. We added the bacon wrapped asparagus which was also bland. The ambiance was nice and our server was nice. We spent over $200 for a meal that was what one would expect from a local diner. Lesson learned! I will not return anytime soon. read more

Went last Friday with a friend, we both got the prime rib and a couple of drinks. The prime fell apart with a spoon, and was so rich I could only eat half. Facilities were hospital clean. The staff were easy on the eyes and exceptionally helpful. Will return very soon. read more

UPDATE: They went non-smoking! ----- If they got rid of the smoking this would be a 4-5. I've always thought White Mtn. is the best steak in town, but some friends won't even eat here because you have to walk through the smoke in the bar to eat and there is no separation from bar to restaurant. Nice people, but there's a reason most people suggest Coyote Creek for groups or business. read more

Renovations in atmosphere are certainly a bonus, but the continuation of great food has not let us regular customers down! White Mountain Mining was one place I had on my bucket list of places to try since moving to Rock Springs over a year ago. I visited on a Tuesday early evening. There were maybe about 3 or 4 other tables at the time. It took about 20 minutes for the server to take our order and bring water. I ordered the BBQ chicken and my wife ordered the Halibut. Food comes out around 45 minutes after ordering. Table behind us came in at least 10 minutes after us, yet got their order taken just before us. The chicken was ok, but I've had better. It tasted like a cheap pre frozen breast. Not something I would pay for again. The Halibut however, tasted overcooked. Tasted badly overcooked and over seasoned. Not worth the price we paid. Best part was the desserts. Tiramisu was absolutely delicious. Sadly, that was the best part of the night. read more

Just passing through overnight after incredible drive thru Pilot Butte Wild Horse Loop and stopped for dinner. Service was excellent from the minute we walked thru the doors. Great host/bar server kept us happy with wine & beer. Amazing young lady took our request and served dinner - she managed all the tables with ease & a smile. Hubby's T-Bone huge & excellent, my Teriyaki Chicken was equally great. Table clothes & oil lamps on each table add to the special local flavor & cool ambience. I highly recommend, if ever in Rock Springs we will be a repeat customer. They suggest making a reservation and I can see why read more

We were here for an event at the Sweetwater Event Center for a week. After experiencing sticker shock on the prices we settled ourselves and ordered a bottle of wine and shared the filet and scampi combo dinner. We often share because portions are usually way more than we can eat. Salad was fresh and dressing very good. Steak was good; the three medium sized shrimp were fine. But this menu is way over priced. The ambiance was kind of cafe-like with bright ceiling lights and worn furniture. It was busy so maybe it's the only game in town. Table next to us were laughing and joking in shock about the prices; obviously not expecting it. Be prepared to spend $150 or more for two people. Don't rely on the posted menus on Yelp. Prices are much higher. Won't return because the value isn't there for us. read more

We stayed in Rock Springs for a night on our drive back home. After a long day Of driving- we stopped for dinner at White Mountain Dining. It was delicious. My hubby had Rib eye and I had the Chicken Marsala. The entree, salad, dressing and mixed veggies were amazing. Glad we found this place! read more

First off, the inside is so dark your eyes take at least 3 to 4 minutes to adjust so you can see. After you can see, you see you stepped into 1979. The decor is way out dated. Food was eh... ok? I ordered a steak with crumbled blue cheese on top. They brought we a steak smothered in Blue Cheese Dressing! Obviously this place is not gourmet. I have had steak from all over... Emeril's in New Orleans, the Venetian in Vegas, Taste of Texas in Houston and still prefer my steaks over them all. I'm not a novice when it comes to steak. I also ordered the snow crab legs with the steak... again, big disappointment. Very small and way over cooked. When you cracked them in half the meat was shriveled to next to nothing. We ate here a few days ago (12/16/22) and I am so, so, so disappointed. We haven't eaten here in probably over a year; which means, I believe it has transferred ownership since the last time I was there. I liked this place pretty well before. A little pricey, but I never thought it was out of control. I usually get prime rib and it was always delicious. I had heard recently that it was so much better with the new owners - they remodeled a bit, changed the menu up, and the food was just overall better. Naturally, I badly wanted to try it because if I liked it before and people are saying it's even better now.... It must be amazing! No, NOT the case! It was the absolute worst food I have had in a LONG time. Not exaggerating a bit. My husband and I each got the prime rib, and we even both got the larger pieces so we could have leftovers the next day. Horrible, horrible idea. The meat was SO tough that we struggled to cut it!! Not even kidding. And it was both of our pieces, so it wasn't just ONE bad slice. The au jus did not taste anything like au jus. I got mixed veggies for my side and it tasted like they cooked them in a cup of sugar...soooo sweet...and not ok. We also got the combination platter appetizer that comes with an assortment of deep-fried veggies and cheese sticks. The cheese sticks were still cold in the middle when I took a bite! I am not sure I will ever return, as I am horrified and disgusted that we spent almost $200 for a meal that wasn't even "ok". In fact, as I write this review, it actually angers me to think about the price I paid for this horrible food! I will absolutely not be recommending White Mountain to people any longer. read more

Went here twice and after the 2nd time was not happy at all. First visit - Went at 7pm on a Friday night. Overall the food was good but when they are busy even with the amount of waitstaff they had it seemed like the service was rather slow. Filet mignon was cooked to my liking and very tasty. For rock springs I thought it was one of the nicer restaurants - may not look really nice from the outside but quaint and cozy. Second Visit - It was practically EMPTY on a Thursday night and still it took over 30 minutes for my steak. I'm starting to wonder if they twice baked the potatoes from scratch but I feel like they should of told you of the delay if that was the reason. The 2nd time I got the prime rib and it was HORRIBLE. Very stringy and not cooked the way I liked it. The stringy poor quality is what really got to me. Not to mention is still took as long, we were sitting in the dining room which was smoke-free but next to the door next to the bar. Once I left I reaked of smoke and I mean REAKED!! Made my rating go down from 4 stars to 2 for Rock Springs. read more

After seeing many of the reviews my wife and I decided to eat at this restaurant and also after having a recommendation form the front desk person at our hotel. It was after dark when we went there and I point this out because there are little signage for the location and when it is dark it appears as a mining shack at the edge of town. There was no lights in the parking area.We walked onto a small front porch apparently designed to keep the weather out of the building. Once inside we saw nothing but a bar with several cowboys seated at the bar. A person behind the bar wanted to know if we had come to eat and we acknowledged "yes". We went through a couple of swinging doors, just like the saloons of the old west and low and behold there was a large dining room with many customers. We were seated and given a menu and I almost fell out of my seat. The prices are definitely New York City (or close to) prices. I just was not willing to pay the prices posted for a steak or prime rib since I knew nothing about this place. I settled for fried catfish at $19.50 for the patter which when served was three pieces. The crust was non descript and tasted as though it was pancake mix batter without any spices. The fish was eatable but I would never pay $19.50 for three pieces of fried catfish. My spouse ordered the chicken marsala which she has eaten many-many times. This particular dinner had an ample portion of chicken with the meal being cooked in a lot of wine. Apparently the chef did not cook the meat with the wine as it tasted as though the meat was cooked and then soaked in wine. The taste was extremely strong and she chose to leave about half of the meal on her plate.The wait service was very good as just a couple of waitress seemed to be traveling constantly to service all the tables. Without a drink and only a salad and entrees, plus tax and tip we had a meal that cost close to $50 and no way was that a $50 meal. We were very disappointed. I am convinced that I should have ordered steak however I could easily have dropped $100 for dinner in this place. read more

My family likes to dine here for some reason so I get stuck going here often. On a previous visit they cooked my filet mignon to blue when I had asked for mid rare. They re-fired my cut into steak until it was overdone and chewy (you never forget a bad filet). We had a table of 6 at our most recent visit. The restaurant itself is dark and creepy, some might think romantic, but I think dirty (I like the look of bar side, it looks more open and welcoming, like a small town bar). To begin they serve a "relish tray" which consists of a bunch of soaken wet baby carrots, chopped up pickles, 3 green onion spears(why?), 3 fiery hot pepperoncini & 2-3 cherry tomatoes and baths of ranch dressing(6 people, and mostly only carrots to munch-eww). They give you a bread basket as well. My husband thinks it is a store bought bread that is maybe baked in house. The food itself is terrible. It did not take our order too long to come out, but overall it was under-seasoned and our salads over-dressed. I ordered the beef stroganoff ($17). It had hardly any salt which is an amateur mistake (do the cooks not taste?). The pasta was way overdone and so mushy. The steak chunks were really inconsistent, some tender, some tough, some very gristle-y pieces, which makes me wonder what the heck they put in there. The sauce itself was yummy, especially when I added some salt. Also, the portion was HUGE, I had an entire styrofoam box full to take home (which I tried to eat for lunch the next day and could not). I think this restaurant needs a serious update-from the dingy decor to a chef with some passion for food! This restaurant is mediocre and over-priced (even for Rock Springs). read more
