THIS is how modern day libraries should do it. Events for all ages, they do a Star Wars Parade…read moreyearly, and I'm sure they have a lot more going on as I talked to a photographer of theirs and they even hire a social media person laughfingly, but good enough. They have a great library with alot of connected museums nearby and good flyer management. It's the way of the world now that in this digital age where people are so seperate and distant from eachother, places like the library have to bring back that social connection amongst people cuz without that there really is no valuing of knowledge, even in things like books. So keep on doing good Joilet Library, and may the force be with you.

Living in Joliet, I didn't expect much from the library system at first. After all, the schools…read moreare lacking, so I assumed the library would be as well. I've been pleasantly surprised! Unlike some libraries, the set up is ideal, so there are quiet spots away from the children's areas and public computers. I'm there a lot writing, and am rarely disturbed by other patrons in the little back area with the study tables. The nonfiction book selection is good; they even have a technical manual that I thought would be hard to find. As a mom, I've also been very pleased with the programming for youngsters! Between 6 and 18 months, it's hard to find activities that are age appropriate, but they have great story time for the little guys! I love the cafe on site. It's rarely too crowded, everyone is friendly, and the coffee is pretty good. My only caveat for this library system is a poor e-book database. However, I'm assuming there's not much of a market for the e-books in the area, but hopefully that will grow as more people adopt the media.

This is the village's new municipal complex, and it is quite impressive. This site used to be a big…read morefarm and the whole space was taken for public use. There are large areas of green, walking paths, a beautiful new playground, lots of parking and the awesome new building with a nice lobby. The girls working the front desk are all really nice too. Normally I would think that kind of spending nowadays is not needed, but the old village complex over on Montrose consisted of a bunch of trailers permanently parked next to the Safety Village. The employees told me that they also smelled like mold and dead bodies, so I would say this is a need improvement. The police department is right in that building too, which makes me happy. I love having them nearby. This structure was needed for city development, but I am glad they took the time to add lots of public space too.

The kids enjoyed playing in the gym and the pizza that was given for the birthday party was good. Could have used some more assistance in playing the games that was paid for with the party. The kids all had fun and there was plenty of room for the adults to hang out. Bathrooms were clean as well. Just a bit on the pricy side for what is given.
