If you're not from Alberta, that analogy might not resonate with you. Crescent beach is like a locals only type of beach. There's a volleyball area, a Sandy cove for swimming, public restrooms, and a long walkway along the beach you can walk on. There are benches, logs and giant rocks for sitting and sun bathing or to just enjoy the sound of the water. I grabbed sushi from nearby sushi spot Hanaya Japanese restaurant and got their lunch special. Took my food "to-go" and headed on down to Crescent beach. There is free parking along residential streets but you can also park close to the public washrooms area next to the Crescent Beach swimming club (which is for members only). Although there are not many food or drink places on the beach, there is a little sail boat place where you can book a tour on a sailboat and head out onto the water. There is a dock for fishing too and the water is super clean. Lifeguards are also on patrol at this beach which is an amazing safety feature to have as well. I would definitely recommend this beach if you want something a little more low key, a little quieter, somewhere to meditate perhaps or have a nice lunch.

Those that not only has setup their 20 people Julius Caesar tents but also invited an army of people to their intimate loud music playing party. FYI, others may not enjoy your brand of metal rap. Or those that bring their Canadian Tire little power boats and pumps. For reasons unbeknownst to me, does being on beach equal to doing whatever you want? Social etiquette is shed with the clothes. So, simply reviewing this, may adulterate this pristine little sandy beach and lake into that monstrosity. It is a good kept secret. Beautiful clean water and beach. Not a lot of nutters yet.

It was dry, because South Surrey and White Rock never seems to get as much rain as Vancouver and North Vancouver. From there we walked down the beachside trail with whitecaps and windsurfers on one side, and gorgeous beachside cottages on the other. I was glad to be wearing a good windbreaker because a mighty wind blows in off Boundary Bay. This is a popular beach area in the summer, but it's a good place for a flat, easy walk in the winter, too. You can go quite a ways along the trail, tracing the shoreline, or just a quick and out and back before dark.

My husband and I saw lots of people kayaking from this beach since there are no waves. We also saw lots of ducks, geese, and seagulls walking along the shore. The beach also includes a nice trail that goes inland. It is a nice, not crowded trail which makes it perfect for walking or running. You are also able to park right next to the trailhead if you do not park at the beach. Very beautiful. Perfect place to sit and watch the wildlife, go for a walk/run, and enjoy the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

I saw crows, seagulls, and Canadian Geese as well as what looked like some beautiful sandstone sea cliffs from afar. I appreciate that collection from the beach is not allowed, it was incredible to see so many purple shells along the shore. Lovely place to go for a walk even on a windy day. The parking lots along Crescent Beach Road overlook the beach, making them scenic places to sit and watch the water and wildlife while staying in your vehicle.

All that was missing was my man, a cat, suitcase of books, and a portable record player. But I was content with the miles-long green ocean that stretched on beneath the blue sky. Waves that crashed violently against the pebbles and rocks. An enchanting scene that cannot be eclipsed. It's the smallest lighthouse you'll ever see.

This part is a real little gem for the community of South Delta. It was built I would say at least…read more15 years ago around the same time when there was the controversy over the Hydro lines connecting the mainland to Vancouver Island. It was decided as a result of the construction of those underwater and underground powerlines that apartment should be built here so everyone can enjoy this amazing view. This place is really popular all throughout the year. You can come here in the summertime to enjoy spectacular sunsets more in the winter time to enjoy that ferocity of the northwesterly wins with the latest storm. For those who are feeling a little more daring you can tackle the 326 step staircase that leads all the way down to the beach. And if you're feeling really up to it you can walk along the beach all the way to the ferry terminal. That will give your legs a good work out after eating a burger on the ferry ride. My only criticism of this location is that it is really small. But even in recent years the municipality of Delta has added more bike racks and new picnic tables.

We spent the morning at this beach and had a lovely time. The beach itself is sort of a pebble…read morebeach and although low tide was around 7:00 this morning, when we arrived just before 9 the tide was still quite low. It was perfect for viewing the tide pools. We saw lots of crabs, tadpoles, shrimp, fish and even a little sea urchin. I had forgotten how much fun it was to do things like this and it made me super nostalgic for my childhood. There were lots of people with dogs, walking along the beach and the pathways. I also really loved the Maiden of Deception Pass; both the statue and the story. On the walk from the parking area, we saw lots of birds and rabbits and it is just a really beautiful place to visit. If we lived in the area I would come here often and I recommend a stop to anyone who hasn't yet had the pleasure.

Part of the fun of living in Vancouver is having little pockets of loveliness like Bowen Island,…read moreavailable to visit as a day-trip. As of yet, I haven't accumulated the funds to purchase my own private island a la Richard Branson...but Tunstall Beach allows us to indulge such fantasies. This gorgeous, sheltered beach can be accessed by car, bike or bus. At times it is busy, and other days we have had the beach to ourselves. When folks are there, it is fun to watch people kayaking, swimming and picnicking. There are 'rustic' but totally functional washroom facilities (bring Purel :) I do not recommend it for ones with mobility issues, as there is a small incline down from the parking to the beach area. Other beaches on Bowen Island are flat. Our favorite thing to do is pack a blanket, some pate, cheese and crackers, fruit, prosecco...and watch the sunsets that are truly breathtaking. It is a short ferry ride home to be back to work/life the next day but you will feel as if you have had a mini holiday! Bowen Island has some cute shops, restaurants, artisans and a riot of fabulous scenery if you feel like kicking around a bit longer during the day...
