White rock hence the city name

We were headed into Canada to spend the day. The lines at the Love Arch crossing were terrible. Once we got to the gate and showed our passports the attendant got squirrelly and made us pull over. We were met by to agents and requested to go inside. Not sure what was going on we obliged. Once we walked in it was like a check and Chong movie with people everywhere looking pretty rough. We found a seat. They wouldn't even let you go to the bathroom. We were finally called to the desk. Again we provided our passports and explained what we were doing. He asked who I worked for and once I told home the US Federsl government things changed. About 5 minutes later they apologized for the delay and we were on our way. This whole ordeal set us back time wise so we just went into white rock. A very nice little border torn with a great Main Street, marina and beach. We wandered out onto the pier which had a great view. The main area where we parked had plenty of space as well as awesome shops and restaurants. Wasn't what we had planned for Canada but was a good visit.

    Low tide!

Nice beach and busy pier. Parking is expensive in my opinion so be prepared to pay (EG: 2 hours = $8 and in effect 7 days a week). A nice day date with great local restaurants in the area.

My go to place for just anything. Feel like sitting on a -WRP(my own short form for white rock pier) Wanna walk or run a -WRP; lets have some sea food-WRP-closest place for outdoors yoga or frizz bee game-WRP n most important any tourist guest at home- lets go WRP...lol Yah so i enjoy being here in all ways n definitely a walk on marine drive beach , crescent beach fills me with energy for the day or calmness at night. I have witnessed festivals , exhibitions and other events at different times of the year but one thing always remain the same . That's spectacular horizon , ocean n twilight moon reflection on water. Must visit touristy spot but for people who enjoy natural beauty

White Rock Beach is a classic beach with beautiful views of the ocean and there is a very long pier -- the longest pier in Canada! I remember going to this pier for the first time when I was 3 or 4 years old, and I was amazed by the pier and the sandy beach. After going to this beach again this year, nothing has changed with the exception that the pier was recently rebuilt due to an extreme storm that caused serious damage. The beach, pier and green grassy sections still looked the same which is amazing. The big white rock was still there, but apparently, it has been repainted white many times due to vandalism, but the main attraction at White Rock Beach is definitely the beautiful pier! Parking is super limited and you will be lucky if you find parking during the summer in their designated parking lot spots. All of the parking is pay parking.

Train tracks and White Rock Pier with section missing~

Surprisingly nice beach area near the USA border. Parking is a bit lacking. It's free before 31 March (off season). During this time the lots are already mostly full. I can only imagine what it's like in the summer. Trains run along the beach, so be sure to plan one's stroll appropriately. Nothing like getting stuck on one side of the tracks for 10 minutes. The entire beach area has a nice paved walking path. Random trivia - the benches there are all from Expo 86. Notice the "86" markings on the concrete bases. The place is definitely touristy. Everything has a nice vintage feel (especially the museum), and the beachfront is crammed with restaurants and drinking establishments. The White Rock itself is actually painted white. It's grey underneath. Just a heads up for those who are setting themselves up for disappointment. Lastly, they still haven't fixed the pier since it got destroyed by the sailboats in the storm a few months ago. There is an entire chunk missing, which is a real shame. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Beautiful scenery and impressive pier. I visited here a couple of times with my friends or families after dining. This is a great location to take a walk. In summer, you can meet diving children and crabbers at the pier sometimes. The new public wheelchair-accessible washroom is nice and clean, just next to the pier. And don't forget to bring a coat to withstand sea wind.

A beautiful little gem of a neighborhood not too far from the US border. Fabulous restaurants, beautiful homes and very challenging hills. Lots of fit people exercising along the water or traveling around the steep, beautiful streets. The waterfront is beautifully decorated and very user friendly. There is a sign that it is the longest pier in Canada. Port Neuf, Que is challenging that... but it is an impressive pier indeed. It's great to look at the seabirds and lots and lots of seals. Beware of the many trains that travel through here daily.

Love Whiterock Beach! Great waterfront restaurants, ice cream shops, long boardwalk, and shopping. The beach is not sand more rocky, and depending on the tide you might be seating on the grass on the higher elevation. Some negatives parking is not free hard to find parking on a hot sunny day and make sure you're dogs are on leash. Otherwise this place is amazing! Don't forget the sun block!

We always forget that White rock is not that far away and offers a lovely sunset a nice evening walk along the pier. Due to Covid getting a restaurant reservation is difficult but if you're flexible and go ahead of time you'll have no problem finding a nice spot to dine. We did Greek but next time Mexican!!

West Beach (west of the hill on Marine Drive) is where most of the action is. It has big names like The Boathouse. East Beach has some stores, too, but mostly fish and chips. I noticed one new restaurant that is actual "Dining", not fish and chips and burgers (http://www.yelp.ca/biz/deluxe-restaurant-white-rock). I want to try it out. Beachy clothing and souvenir shops on both sides. Ice cream too. I think West Beach has gelato as well. The actual Rock that is White is situated on the beach where Marine Drive has a hill, so you actually have to get out of your car and walk on the promenade to see it. Marine Drive is supposed to be 30km/h, but people usually don't bother... except on sunny weekends and holidays, when many come show off their fancy convertibles and bikes ;) I like the wavy patterns on the sand when the tide is out! We like to bring Japanese visitors here (remember -- Japan has no land border), and tell them to look east. "See all the trees to the left, then a big white thing (the Peace Arch)? To the right of that is all America!"

On a nice sunny day in Surrey, this is the place to go. It's the closest beach and has great views. A few things that I love: 1. It's a beach 2. Lot's of great places to dine-in 3. Great Boutiques 4. Beautiful View and Walk 5. Great Location 6. The older couples who just sit with their sweeties and enjoy their time together. Makes me cry... in a good way. A few things I would love, if changes were made: 1. Parking. Need more of it! 2. Street lights. Need more of it! 3. Lights along the water. Need more of it! In a nutshell, great place to go with friends, family, pets, etc. Can't wait for the weather to turn around. I love it here

From the shore, it's somewhat deceptive, as the pier doesn't look that long to the naked eye.

Each visit feels different -- sometimes serene, sometimes full of color and light. It's the kind of place where you can breathe, slow down, and simply watch the day fade into stillness. my fine-art landscapes on Instagram: @aaronshaphoto #SouthSurrey #CrescentBeach #VancouverSunset #AaronShaPhoto #FineArtPhotography #BCCoast

This little beach off the beaten path is a local gem. If you're from Alberta, think White Rock =…read moreBanff, Crescent Beach = Jasper. If you're not from Alberta, that analogy might not resonate with you. Crescent beach is like a locals only type of beach. There's a volleyball area, a Sandy cove for swimming, public restrooms, and a long walkway along the beach you can walk on. There are benches, logs and giant rocks for sitting and sun bathing or to just enjoy the sound of the water. I grabbed sushi from nearby sushi spot Hanaya Japanese restaurant and got their lunch special. Took my food "to-go" and headed on down to Crescent beach. There is free parking along residential streets but you can also park close to the public washrooms area next to the Crescent Beach swimming club (which is for members only). Although there are not many food or drink places on the beach, there is a little sail boat place where you can book a tour on a sailboat and head out onto the water. There is a dock for fishing too and the water is super clean. Lifeguards are also on patrol at this beach which is an amazing safety feature to have as well. I would definitely recommend this beach if you want something a little more low key, a little quieter, somewhere to meditate perhaps or have a nice lunch.
