There's a nice path for bikes and jogging. You can park along side of the lake but I took the road all the way down to the parking lot and got out. Dragonflies, turtles, and ducks oh my. I will visit again. E.B. on and on and on and on.

I needed a place to get in a run while I was in Dallas for a while, and this place was really awesome!! When I came here, it was a nice sunny day. The lake is big, the trails are wide and clean, plenty of room for walkers, bikers, or runners!! All the restrooms I saw were porta potty's, so there's that. But I didn't go all the way around the lake, I only had time to get in a few miles here. Multiple parking lots around the lake, also some very nice houses here. Looking at the maps that were here, it's over 9 miles around the lake. I will definitely come here to run when I'm in Dallas again!!

Couldn't believe I found this stunning lake and trail. It's a long loop trail around white rock lake which is a breathtaking view when the sun is out. I got here around the early afternoon and strolled around for nearly an hour before deciding to wrap up. The area is clean and people are happy to be here. Definitely perfect for a walk, taking your dog out, riding your bike, or having a picnic along the lake. Residents are lucky to have this here!

White Rock Lake Park ended up being my afternoon office today, spending a few hours near Dreyfuss Club Point overlooking the water. Working from the van here was most pleasant as there was a great on-shore breeze and the temperature was just right for April. Lots of bicyclists going past, many joggers, and me, on my mobile hotspot and pounding away at emails and Zoom calls. I was undisturbed by all and at the end of the work day, I was even able to get a nap in the RV before dinner. The park is free and clean and green. On a busy weekend, parking might be a challenge but on a weekday afternoon, I had plenty of great spots to choose from. [Review 750 of 2024 - 509 in Texas - 21781 overall]

Every year for the past 30,artist that make their homes in the neighborhood surrounding White Rock Lake, open their studios to the public.. Always interesting to see who's creating art in Dallas.

White Rock Lake is a favorite for my fiance and I to go picnicking. We actually got engaged here and the photos turned out naturally beautiful! Hiking / biking / walking trails, scenic views, lovely picnic areas, and friendly ducks frequent the area surrounding the lake. The area is kept clean and beautiful and is definitely a must-see for anyone who enjoys some time outdoors.

There is a lovely ten mile loop trail around White Rock Lake. Whether you come here to cycle, run, or walk, you will find a well paved path with a divider line and nice views of the lake. The place is crowded on weekends and holidays. Plan your arrival for early mornings when you can find good parking, the trails aren't as busy, and the weather isn't as hot. We have been fortunate to find shade parking each time. Lots of people park on the street, but even there you can find the shade of trees. There are park benches and shade trees along the path. You can stop to take a break frequently, if needed. I've noticed a few board walks or piers that hover over the water along the way. There appears to be bathrooms and grilling stations, but I haven't used or looked at those facilities close enough to comment. The public is pretty good about staying to the far right in their lane. Cyclists in a leisurely ride like us, are good about announcing, "on your left" as we approach and pass pedestrians. More intense cyclists tend to ride the regular streets that circle the lake rather than the wide multi-use walking path. The park appears clean and well kept all around the lake despite being well used by the public. I noticed signs inviting everyone to volunteer to help clean up the park once a month, in addition to city signs that encourage everyone to "Pitch-in". My husband and I are trying to schedule a regular weekly ride here for a bit of exercise and fun. So far, we are enjoying it.

White Rock Lake is a tranquil haven within the middle of Dallas. It's a fantastic region to unwind, workout, or watch the sunset. The paths are perfect for on foot, bicycling, or picnics, and they give lovely perspectives of the water and animals.

Me and my friend went on the boat here and it was very lovely. We did get rained on a bit the last 5-10 mins but it was very peaceful in the beginning of the ride! The prices aren't too bad if you plan ahead.

Great walking trail! Very scenic views. Great bird-watching. White Rock Lake is a great place to walk, run, bike-ride, fish, and have a picnic. It's very big so you can spend all day here if you'd like.

What's not to like about WRL park? There's something for everyone. Whether you want to stay active and exercise or relax by the lake or have a picnic with family & friends, the park is the right place. Dog lovers will have a great time in the dog park. The hiking / biking trail offers amazing views of the lake. Lots of parking is available at the different areas of the park. Photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and areas for boating make this a popular spot. There are kayak rentals too. One of my favorite spots in Dallas proper for a relaxed evening by the lake. Don't miss WRL if you are visiting Dallas.

Watching sunsets is one of our favorite things . Our friends suggested this lake has Winfrey point which provide good views during sunsets and thought it would be awesome spot to celebrate my gal's birthday. Reached 15mins before the sunset, parked and took a small walk to the bench of our choice and luckily the weather was little cooler compared to Saturday and helped us had a great time. Pros: -------- Awesome Trail for walking/Running/biking Cool spots to watch sunset Good for picnic Free parking 5 mins to Dallas arboretum Cons: ------- Dint find any mobile toilets / restrooms( they might have , not sure)

With so much happening in our country right now, it's so therapeutic to have a place of serenity, nature, and sunsets. White Rock Lake has always been top 5 things I love about living in Dallas. It carries a sense of nostalgia for me, as I've been coming here with my parents since I was a kid. Came here a couple of weekends ago to reunite with some of our old friends while social distancing. We grilled some burgers and fajitas, threw a football around, took my nephew to catch fireflies, and had the best evening. Texas cotton candy skies always look better over the water.

Enjoying the beautiful vegetation around the lake.

Beautiful lake. Good if you like to row. There is also a 7 miles trail. Only prob is it's too dirty to swim in which is a shame.

Ask the Community - White Rock Lake

Is there a fenced in dog park?

    Yes. Off Mockingbird

Does anyone skate here? Are the trails smooth enough for a beginner in roller skates?

Yes, I saw a man skating the multi-use trail today. The paths are mostly smooth. The bridges are wood plank though, so there are some rougher surfaces sporadically around the lake.

Are there any grills there to cook on?

There are at few at the pavilion areas. Some are not in great shape and you may be better off bringing your own.

Are there grills? Are Sundays usually crazy busy? Looking to do a group picnic.

Can we get in the water?

You can rent a kayak or paddle board. (I guess swimming is not allowed)

Can I do a picnic at night? What time they close?

They just dumped a million gallons of sewage in the lake, I'd stay away for a while...

Any fishing in white rock lake?

There's always people fishing around the lake. At the edges they're mostly catching sunfish and other small fish. If you're looking for substantial catches, your best bet is in a boat.

It's close to where I live, and I love having such a beautifully maintained green space nearby. There's lots of open lawn that would be perfect for a picnic or just soaking up some sunshine. It's dog-friendly (major points for that!), and I've consistently seen pet parents doing a great job cleaning up after their pups. Personally, I prefer this kind of open space over a traditional dog park--as long as your pup has excellent recall and listens well. Just a heads-up: Turtle Creek Blvd runs alongside the park and it's a busy street, so keep that in mind. One of my favorite things about this park is how it feels like a little escape from the hustle of the city. Maybe I've been lucky, but's it's never gotten overly busy during my visits. Whether you're walking your dog, taking a quiet stroll, or reading under a tree, it's just a nice vibe. Pro Tip: There is some street parking available, but only on certain sides depending on signage--so double-check before leaving your car. All in all, a relaxing and scenic spot in the heart of Dallas. Happy Exploring!

It is not a big place, it is very small, but enough to take a nice little stroll and enjoy for whomever made this place available to the public. Note - When we arrived there are sign's at the entrances that say, in order to enter this property you had to call a number that was on the sign and ask for permission first before entering. I did not call, and just walked around admiring the garden as many others did. Though, if you do plan on going, enter at your own risk ( You prob should call and ask for permission first). Sadly I did not take a picture of the sign. I was probably only there 15 minutes at the most to enjoy the whole garden. I'd love to go back with my camera to take some nice pictures sometime. Totally a nice little place to check out if you happen to be in this area.

From the floodplain of the Trinity River, you can see all the bright lights of Big D. Downtown Dallas has two bridges designed by the internationally acclaimed architect, Santiago Calatravas. There's one at each end of the trail here. There's no restrooms here along this trail. No shade from trees. The area around the Trinity has been mowed to keep things visible, and a concrete path to follow. There's a map at the trail head that walks you through the features of the Trinity river valley. This place is generally pretty sketchy at night- there's a place you can pull off the road and park and make out or whatever those people are doing in their cars. It seems like a fantastic place to meet some shady characters late at night. I wouldn't hike past sundown. I went walking alone through the trail, and I'm pretty sure I made some of the other joggers uncomfortable when there was nobody else around... I'd have felt much more comfortable on a bike.

On our first trip out, we only walked the half mile leg of the trail between the Trinity Overlook and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian Bridge. Street parking was easy at the Overlook. There weren't a lot of spaces but there also weren't a lot of cars. I think most people start from one of the other trailheads. The views from the overlook are nice, but not as nice as the views from the pedestrian bridge. It would probably be more exciting at night. From the overlook we descended down a steep hill to the trail. The path is a little rocky but still adequate for running, assuming you have good shoes. This definitely isn't a trail for you barefoot runners! I can't speak for the rest of it, but this portion of the trail was NOT LIT, so it wouldn't be an early morning or night run option without a flashlight (and a taser). It is roughly a flat half mile from the overlook to the bridge and it is beautiful. There are views of both the Margaret McDermott and Margaret Hunt Hill bridges, the Trinity River, and the Dallas Skyline. Walking the trail in early April, everything was vibrantly green and absolutely stunning. We hopped off the trail to walk down the Ronald Kirk pedestrian bridge. On a Friday mid morning in the midst of Coronavirus quarantine, the bridge was sparsely populated - just a few people here and there running, biking, or walking their dogs. I see from previous reviewers that it is normally quite lively, which will be a fun thing to go back and experience, but it was also nice to have the bridge mostly to ourselves and peacefully take in the 360 degree views. The Trinity Skyline trail and the Ronald Kirk Pedestrian bridge come together to make a true urban oasis. Go check it out!
