What an amazing park! It's in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood, and lucky them for having access to this tranquil space. It's clean, it's walkable, there are ducks everywhere. I passed a bunch of people walking their dogs. Saw a few cyclists go down the street. There's not really parking - you know - it's Highland Park - but I think anyone would feel welcomed. Such a beautiful park with a lake, located in a very calm area. It is indeed a big one to do picnics, jog and bring your pets. The place is entirely filled with greenery and there are also teddy bear statues. The lake also has several ducks, whom you can feed. It also has a beautiful small waterfall. Definitely a must-visit place and it is separated from the downtown even though it's very near, it completely feels like a different area! The only con is there are no restrooms nearby! read more

For sentimental reasons alone this beautiful area deserves 5 stars! I first saw the area in High School when a friend took me to see the Gazebo on Versailles. Wow. Thats another treat but, another review. This park and lake were part of the original development in Highland Park in the 1920s. Due to its location, it's accessible to anyone cutting north, south, east or west thru the north of Dallas. Parking your car and taking a stroll always drops the blood pressure. Lakeside Drive is one of the most expensive residential streets in Dallas, housing many celebrities and local Power brokers over the years. One everyone knows is A Rod! He bought a house here when he came to the Texas Rangers many moons ago. Currently both the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, Jerry Jones and the Owner of the Kansas City Chiefs homes, back up to the small lake. This entire area was at one time considered sacred by native Americans and for miles along this creek, you can feel "special vibes". I love it and eveyone whos been here does also. If you need a new discovery or place to get some fresh air during the Covid crisis, this is a good add to your list. read more

You can have a family picnic but wouldn't recommend going there with a large group. Whole park faces private homes on 1 side. What a picturesque park! It is great for photos or just bring the family to come play. This is also connected to pathways that lead to other running trails. It is quite pleasant on a sunny day. It is also in a nice neighborhood so you can feel like you are watching HGTV and look at the beautiful homes. And who says Dallas doesn't have good outdoorsy things! This park crushes that notion for sure! Come here if you are in need of meditation time to view the waterfall and woodsy tall trees! I kind of stumbled upon this park on a long run one day and glad I did. I need to go stumble upon it again very soon. read more

Really beautiful park nestled into Highland Park. I've driven by this park many times and have been wanting to stop by and go for a walk. I had no trouble finding a parallel parking spot along the edge of the park on a weekday around 3. There were many people walking dogs and sitting by the lake, but it wasn't overly crowded. I liked all the small trails and benches off the main path that provided a quiet oasis to stop and enjoy the nature. The teddy bear statues were really cute. This would be a great park to take children to. I walked at a leisurely pace throughout the entire park and spent about 40 minutes there. I felt safe the entire time. The beautiful homes neighboring the park added to the overall experience. I will certainly return to this park to go for another walk soon. read more

The famed 'Bear' park. More than one proposal has happened here. Great for family picnics as well. This is definitely a highlight of Dallas! Surrounding the park, there's no Mc to these Mansions as they are HUGE! As my wife says, it feels like Pride and Prejudice going through the neighborhood and park given Mr. Darcy's house or something similar is right across the water for all to see. The grounds are always perfectly manicured and the walk way is quite relaxing if your in the mood for a stroll. There is a picturesque bridge to cross over the water which leads to the bears. Also, there are ducks who would love nothing else than to eat any bread you can spare. The main attraction are a few larger than life size teddy bears that are on the other side of the walking bridge. The momma bear is sitting and still probably 8 feet tall. Yes, every grown boy has to prove his manhood and climb to the top of momma bear for a picture of which I'm no exception. Admittedly, it makes for a pretty cool picture if you bring a camera even if you stay planted on the soul. If you want to be creative on your next date, family outing or study nook then I would highly suggest Lakeside Park! read more

We took some family photographs here. This is a nice park in a ritzy area. Just looking at the houses around it alone makes it worth the trip. It is well kept and has many hidden nooks to hang out and have a picnic in. There are bridges and water features as well. Across one of the bridges is a bear statue that the kids loved. It is huge and they climbed around on it. There is no playground or anything like that, just a calm, serene park made for strolling and relaxing. The park shape is long and skinny, so no open field areas or anything like that. read more

Wonderful park located in the upscale Highland Park neighborhood. Hard to find such a picturesque and peaceful scene those close to the heart of Dallas. I prefer coming here over the Katy Trail. This park is so well laid back and peaceful it is not even funny! I am big into fly fishing and this park is well laid out, that you can have some great casting going on! I'm a little disappointed that we didn't go a little earlier in the daytime because it would've been a pretty awesome area to do a mini photoshoot or even landscape pictures of. The lake definitely has a calm feeling to it, so I agree with the one review below that it's probably an amazing place to either lay out a blanket to read or even enjoy the scenery on the benches. FYI: When you actually drive to go to this Lake/Park. It belongs to a rich neighborhood. So it's not like your public community park or whatnot. No signs say that you have to be part of the neighborhood to enjoy the lake/park so a lot of people from the outside come in to enjoy the lake. Which I think is nice, because most fancy rich neighborhoods fence/gate off their community to the public. I know that my cousin and I thought we went to the wrong place because we entered a rich neighborhood, so just a heads up! The lake was gorgeous, filled with hundreds of lily pads and I'm sure it's probably a beautiful view when they bloom in season. The lake was kept clean of debris and trash and there are benches all around the area for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. The only word of caution I would like to provide and the main reason why I give this place a 4 star rating vs a 5 star rating was because of the bridge. This bridge is meant for people to walk on to get across and see the popular Teddy Bear statues that people mainly come to see and yet this bridge was one of the most nerve racking bridges I have ever walked on. I saw people jogging (probably used to it) on the bridge like it was normal, but the spaces were about an inch to an inch and a half apart from another and they creaked and it was made of wood. So I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe on it. In my opinion if it's a community lake and in a community there are bound to be kids running around wouldn't it be safer to have sturdier planks on the bridge? That's just my two cents about the bridge. Also the one disappointing thing I found was that half the lake was dried out (Left side of the bridge). I saw another reviewer who took pictures and it had a waterfall on the other side of the lake and that was actually one of the reasons why we ventured off to this lake, but sadly it was super dried out so you can see the pipes and etc. But otherwise the rest of the lake was nice and if I lived within 10-15 minutes away from it I would definitely take time to bring a books and read during my off times there. read more

This park was one of the first places I visited in Dallas and probably helped pave the way for our upcoming relocation in October. My wife was at a work function and stumbled upon this park while wandering around the city. We've since returned on other trips because it is a fantastic place to spend a few hours reading, working or just enjoying nature. Everything is beautifully manicured and it's in the nicest part of town. I look forward to being to visit whenever I want to in the near future! read more

This park is so freaking cute and Amazing! I was in search for a place to bring my sister and niece who were visiting for the weekend and we happen to stumble across this park from of course my good friends on yelp! I totally got the feeling we were far removed from the city with all the beautiful lush landscape, water, waterfalls, ducks, goose, birds, lizards and even turtles!!! Yes, we actually seen all the wildlife/ nature I just mentioned. Because we went during the week on a Monday it wasn't crowded and parking was super easy along the street. I would most definitely recommend this place to nature lovers and/or anyone looking for beautiful scenery in the city. Lakeside is probably one of the best things I enjoy about living in Uptown. It's just up the street, but it feels like I'm a thousand miles away from everything when I visit...SUCH a nice escape! Currently, they're doing some construction/cleaning so half of the lake is drained, but it's still beautiful even with the PVC pipes and construction materials strewn everywhere. And I want to believe they are just cleaning it up a little so it can stay awesome! I run around Lakeside at least once a week, and everyone I see in passing is always friendly. I usually see a bridal or engagement shoot each time, and a lot of peeps bring their dogs to hang out. There are plenty of open spots to throw down a blanket and enjoy the landscape. Or if you follow the winding sidewalks down by the creek in the southwest corner, you'll see some pretty cool fish and mossy areas to sit and think. I almost didn't write this because I don't want any more locals to find this hidden gem, but sharing is caring, right? read more

I loved this park! I took my college graduation pictures here and the background turned out fantastic. (My profile pic was taken here) I found the park on Yelp and didn't even have to go and check out the location before the shoot. The pictures looked lovely and I knew that this would be the perfect setting. There were plenty of beautiful options for areas to take the pictures in. The bridge was one of my favorite shots, but If you're planning on wearing heels, I'd be careful walking on the bridge. There are huge gaps in the bridge that could break your heels. (Luckily) this didn't happen to me, but it could have if I weren't forewarned. There were several groups taking pictures so you know it's a great location. The lake seemed a little dirty looking, so we tried avoiding getting too much of the lake in the shots. Besides that, there's plenty of greenery around which was really beautiful. This has got to be one of the coolest parks in Dallas. It's best to come here at night on when the sky is clear... the middle of the park is shaped like a bowl, so when you walk into the this bowl type field it feels like the sky is wrapping around you... oddly enough, for being in the middle of the city, the stars shine unusually well. Then theres this curved cement thing about, i don't know... fifty feet long that you can whisper into, and a friend standing on the other end can here quit clearly. Sooooo neat. Also, there are a bunch of teddy bear sculptures thorughout the park that are totally cute. Seriously check this place out. It's a great place to visit. read more

Great place to have a picnic and to feed the local ducks. We usually go to Eatzi to grab some food and then have a picnic while feeding the ducks. The ducks here have no fear, they WILL get very close to you when you have food! A duck got as close as less than a feet away from my daughter and stole the bread right out of her hand!
