Good laundromat. The machines feel reasonably priced. I don't have a ton of clothes, so I can usually get my weekly laundry done for about eight bucks, which feels fair. Usually around fourteen to sixteen if I'm doing my linens. I like that they have free INDY Week. Clean, they have drink and snack vending machines, which can be nice. I've never had to wait for a machine over the month and a half I've been going. Only complaint I have is that the app they use for the machines is a little wonky, particularly with the dryers. If you don't use the app it's quarters only -- I don't know how typical that is for laundromats, but when the machine is six dollars to run, that takes a while. I've never used their dry cleaners, unlikely that I'll ever get the chance to. read more

DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR HIGH QUALITY GARMENTS. I went to them last year with a silk top and they returned it with threads snagged in multiple locations on a blouse that was worn only once. When I complained, they said that I would need to discuss with the owner. I left my garment there so the owner could assess, but i never received a call back. When I finallly managed to get in touch with the owner, she was extremely rude and made up some excuses and refused to acknowledge any wrong doing. When the blouse was finally returned - they returned without a cover and there were additional food stains on it. The blouse is completely ruined. Never returning here again. read more

I believe this place is also called regency dry cleaner on google. I do not plan on using this service again. I brought in multiple high-end cocktail and black tie dresses, including silk material. I specifically pointed out a stain on one of the dresses. When I returned to pick up my items, the stain was not resolved. Additionally, on another dress, the beads along the chest line were falling off of the dress. I'm positive this is not how I gave the dress to them. I asked them to fix it which they said they would. I then needed to return two additional times to continue to ask them to fix it. I asked to have this removed off my bill, which was not done easily. Additionally, a second one of my dresses came back ripped at the hem. Again, this is definitely not the condition of how I brought my dress to them. read more

I brought in a dress and did not want to give a phone number to the clerk. She argued and insisted, so I told her to make one up. When I got the dress back, it smelled the same as it did before I brought it in and I noticed the clerk had put all 6's in the phone number. I don't think they cleaned the dress, and I successfully disputed the payment with my credit card issuer. read more

They offer same-day service; they always have coupons on their website; and they seem to do a pretty solid job. I brought in 5 sweaters, 1 with buttons; and I got back 5 sweaters (all buttons accounted for!). Plus, the opportunity to bring hangers in (whether a client or not) for them to recycle -- awesome! They're even friendly: While picking up my clothes, a little kid wanted to "push the button" and one of the cashiers, led him into the open backroom where he was allowed to depress the button that moves the clothes rack. He was SO excited, and really, the staff seemed just as happy to have simply put that smile on his face! read more

Okay, so it feels a little weird to review a laundromat but here goes. I'm a big fan of laundromats - I think they're cool places to come hang out, get your laundry done peacefully and people watch. Doing laundry at your house just isn't the same - plus I don't have Cruisin' USA in my house! This place feels kinda old, yes, but it's clean and seems well taken care of. The people across the way at the cleaners are all really friendly - big ups for that. This has been my go-to place while I'm hangin' in Durham for the summer. Only thing: Please remember to replace the paper towels outside the restroom. I promise I'm not a weirdo but I think I'll miss it when I'm back in Austin. None of the laundromats there have Cruisin' USA either. read more

Brought in a bunch of shirts just before their deadline of 10 a.m. in order to get it back the same day and White Star didn't even give me that sneer and disdain I'm so used to in New York. I love the South! Came by to pick up the shirts right before the 7 p.m. closing time and still no sneer, even though the same folks were still there working. They were a little more expensive than I would have thought ($2 per shirt for wash and press) but they're all clean and now no one will make fun of me at the wedding for having a wrinkly shirt.* * - I never did learn how to actually iron a shirt. This place is not the cheapest dry cleaners in the world, but why would you want to not spend a little extra on a place that clearly loves what they do? The staff here are always so nice and accommodating, the prices I think are pretty on par with other places, they also have a reward program, and if you bring in old hangers they give you a $2 credit! On top of that, their reward program is pretty easy to earn a free $5 every now and then too. Plus, any place that is as retro looking as this place is with their vintage sign outside is a winner in my book. It's sort of weird to have this strong of a reaction for somewhere like a dry cleaner, but White Star never failed to impress. They offer same-day service (I think you have to bring it in before 10 AM), reasonable prices (made even better if you print off one of the coupons from their website beforehand) & courteous staff. My clothes were always returned in great condition. You can bring in old hangers too for recycling. Their hours accommodate any busy schedule. I feel like I'm usually in a hurry whenever I am picking up dry cleaning, and it's never somewhere you want to be stuck at for more than like 5 minutes. This place never had a line and parking is always available right in front. A lot of other dry cleaners are in strip shopping centers where you can end up circling around for awhile. read more

Just picked up a dress that I had dry cleaned here, and I have a lot of good things to say about the place. 1 Very accessible, great location, easy parking 2 great hours, I love that they open at 7 am 3 Same day pick up = awesome. Ok I didn't actually use it bc I didn't make it last night before they closed, but the idea is great. 4 Super nice, competent, fast working employees. Nothing makes my morning like competence. The only only bad thing I have to add is price- small dress, almost $13 to dry clean? Seems like a little much, but ill probably come back anyway because I had a great experience. read more

After several years gone, I decided to try white star cleaners again and was extremely disappointed. I took my husbands new blue dress shirt to be dry cleaned and was surprised to pick it up with blue streaks all over it. No one was going to tell me about the problem- I had to find out for myself. The manager, Emily was rude and dismissive and told me to call back after she spoke with the owner. When I called back, one of the employees answered and I could hear her in the background say "I'm not here". Still haven't resolved the issue and not sure how I will when the manager is completely incompetent, rude and won't acknowledge me. Please save yourself the worry and go to another dry cleaners/ laundromat. I wish I had. read more

I have been coming here almost 4 years, but I will never be returning. Apart from the recent incredibly inflated prices, the service I received today was appalling. After dropping triple digits of money on my order, I saw that one of my silk dresses had tears all along the arm holes and down the back seam. The arm holes appear as if someone took a razor blade to the silk. When I brought it to the attention of staff, I was told it was "wear and tear". I don't tear apart my own clothing. When I reiterated that the dress was not brought in that way, I was told again that it wasn't from the cleaning, and I was offered NO form of compensation. Again, I am appalled. Both the dry cleaning service and the customer service I received today were beyond terrible. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Be very wary of sending anything white to this dry cleaners. It seems as though they don't use fresh solvent for their dry cleaning, possibly to save money and to cut costs. Unfortunately, I sent my bright white blazer to this dry cleaners and found just a few dirty streaks and spots when I came to pick it up. They took it back again and when I received it the second time, my white blazer had a very light beige tint. When I thought this may be because of the lighting in my house, I realized it wasn't when I went to spot clean yet another dirt spot on my just dry cleaned blazer collar with Tide-To-Go and saw the difference in color. This place is not your typical cheap, value dry cleaners - so I'm pretty upset that I paid so much to have my blazer look the way it did after they serviced it. read more

I've given these folks a orders the last few weeks. Each time, they have made mistakes. While the front line staff try to be helpful in resolving these, they often have to involve a manager, and, unfortunately, the manager on duty has often been unhelpful, dismissive and rude. read more

No, no, no. While the staff is friendly I question the place. They lost my clothes twice. The first time I figured accidents, the second time - it won't happen again. The worst part is someone else's shirt was in my return bag. While I'm not as organized and have not inventoried my items to ever know if I lost something, I just hope that the next person looks as good as I did in my clothes; however I will decline the nice new shirt. I just understand why the mix up occurred two people same name but had the other person came in, they could have left with my cloths and here I would be a clothed identity theft victim (haha). Seriously after the first incident, you would think a correction of how I was identified would have been entered. It was all around a frustrating experience. read more

Had two really expensive and delicate pieces (one was cream viscose and the other was white cotton) dry-cleaned here and they were able to remove 95% of the stains (wine, oil, marker). The 1 or 2 stains left were pretty faint anyway. Very impressed with the speed of service as well - brought it in one afternoon and picked it up the next afternoon. read more

Clean, affordable, consistent. It's what you want in a good cleaner. Shirts how you want them (light starch? Folded? Boxed? Sure!), nice work on pants and other more tender items. Friendly staff. I even make the longer trip since I moved out of the TP. Worth it. read more

They lost two of eleven pieces of expensive clothing (I counted twice and they recorded 11) and did not even acknowledge it was their fault. They do not count and describe clothing so they can deny responsibility for their losses and errors. Going out of business is the only solution - anyone who fails to accept responsibility doesn't deserve customers' business. read more

I took my favorite green wool sweater (1.5 years old) to the White Star Cleaners on 9th Street (this was my first time going to this dry cleaner since moving to Durham). When I picked up the sweater on a Friday, I was handed the sweater on a hanger, paid for the item, and then took it off the hanger in my car. Which is when I noticed a large hole in one of the sleeves. I immediately went back and told the person who I had just paid that they had irrevocably damaged my sweater (and hadn't told me before returning it to me). The cashier called a manager, who came to look at the sweater, returned the cleaning costs ($7.40), and asked me how much the sweater had cost ($70 or more). She promised she would call me either that day or first thing the week after to right the wrong. TEN DAYS LATER, I received a condescending call from someone at the shop claiming their "analysis" of the thick wool sweater proved that the hole had "naturally occurred" rather than as part of the dry cleaning process. She asked me to pick up the sweater or they would dispose of it. I will never use these dry cleaners ever again and have warned my friends and work colleagues at Duke that White Star will not only ruin your clothes, but not take responsibility for their actions. Brought three coats in here to be dry cleaned at the recommendation of a local friend. Noted on the way out that my receipt did not have a price on it, but didn't give it much thought until just now when I forked over nearly $40 to dry clean three (short) coats. Also, $2 to wash/iron shirts is definitely pricey for this area. I will go elsewhere next time. read more

Truly awful: dirty, can't find anyone to assist when there are problems, machines that take your money and don't work and no one cares. Ugh.

My best advice for you: make sure to avoid this place. The staff is surely underpaid, and certainly not competent. Twice two elegant dresses were damaged instead of being cleaned. The white star laundry did not took responsability for it, and did not contact me at they say they will. In other words, this place is cheap and will not look after your clothes with the care it should do it over and over again. Its location is convenient, but their services are simply not reliable and their work is not professional. One suggestion for you: go instead to this place that provides excellent service and is located next to it. Horrible! This is the worst dry cleaners I have ever been to. They completely ruined my wedding tux. They were "unable to get the stains out" Normal marks from food. This is what they are supposed to do. By the time I got my clothes back the white of my tux was black. I don't know what they are doing there, but this is horrible service. read more

I went to White Star (which is also Regency Cleaners) after reading reviews here. It's a large dry cleaning chain so I thought they must know what they are doing. I couldn't have been more wrong. In the first two weeks of using them not only did they over-starch my shirts (to the point where they feel like cardboard), they ended up ruining a pair of dress pants that I have. Worse part...they claim that I must have burnt the pants myself. I consider myself "well dressed," all I have to say is ..I'm so glad I didn't bring an expensive suit or something I really care about to them. My advice is to look at other cleaners in the area. read more
