My Ex tried to scare me with some crazy lawsuit and when she realized I wasn't going to fold she came to her senses and we settled. Literally zero Lawyer work, it happened between the two of us. Well when the team at the law firm realized we had just come to an agreement I was hit with an immediate $5000 invoice. I thought "what do you mean? I am sure there is stuff to file but it's done". It was a $7500 retainer followed by discovery i.e. her paralegal calling me threatening me with "you know Mr. Carroll if we don't do all of this she could go for more" - to another invoice for txt and emails - to them basically extorting me for $5000 to finish the case. I did it myself and they still have the nerve to keep sending the invoice.........Did I mention that I spent $10000 and was never given an ounce of legal advice and I never even spoke to the lawyer?? Over time, it became evident that my case was being neglected, which ultimately led me to hire a new attorney to correct and complete the work that should have been handled by her team. After receiving my second retainer, they provided little to no attention to my case, were delayed in filing key paperwork, and my new lawyer even noted concern, stating she could see why I chose to terminate Michaela's services.
