History
Established in 1974.
In the 1960's, we started offering veterinary services from the garage behind a vet's private residence!
In 1974 a Veterinary Hospital was built which served the communities of Blackburn, Nunawading, Mitcham, Forest Hill, Burwood, Doncater, Balwyn, Ringwood and beyond.
In 1989 the current purpose-built Accredited Hospital of Excellence was built which has been a source of inspiration for dozens of other specialized, high-end veterinary hospitals in Melbourne.
Every 4 years we undergo the scrutiny of external examiners, who haul through every aspect of the hospital building, the staff qualifications and experience and, most importantly, the history and medical records of our beloved patients. This is all to ensure that we meet the stringent standards of outstanding excellence in veterinary medicine and surgery as determined independently by the Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association (ASAVA) Hospitals Of Excellence Scheme.

Meet the Business Owner: Shaun W.
In 1983 Shaun and Rod both did work experience at Whitehorse Veterinary Hospital as high school students. In 1991 and 1989, Shaun and Rod returned as undergraduate veterinary students. Dr Shaun worked at Whitehorse from 1998 to 2006, when he bought the practice! Dr Rod joined the team in 2008 and bought into the practice in 2010.
Dr Shaun passed examinations in the Australian and New Zealand college of Veterinary Scientists as Small Animal Surgeon. He is capable of preforming the most advanced surgical procedures.
Both Dr Shaun and Dr Rod have used their 20+ years of experience each to become adept in all aspects of Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, Opthalmology, Oncology, Pathology, and more. We can confidently solve all problems, whether it be skin or ear troubles, bad breath, lameness, weight loss (or weight gain!), eye problems, general illness and so on. We have the most advanced techniques for cruciate surgery, cancer surgery, skin grafting, reconstructive surgery and more.
