Since there isn't a lot of info available about these, I thought I would take the time to write a more thorough review. There is a lovely sand beach available, across the street, but it is across the street and down a bit. Not far, but the view directly across the road from the front porch of the cabin is a huge house. You cannot see the lake from the cabin. I assumed you could, and was disappointed. Also, the beach is shared with the other Bog Lake rentals. This was never a problem for us, but it did change how we used the firepit at night. The cabin is very close to the road - maybe 15' from the front door to the road. The cabin has three bedrooms, and there are no doors on the bedrooms, just curtains. The door to the bathroom is an accordion vinyl door. Not a lot of privacy at all. I would not stay here with kids who were under 6 or so. The compression tank and water heater are in the bathroom, with all the attendant knobs and pipes and drain tubes. I just imagined a matchbox car going down the open drain pipe from the compression pump. There is a small couch and one chair in the dining room/kitchen, along with a dining table and four chairs. There isn't a living room. There is a spacious screened in front porch, which we used all the time. It has an eating table, a swing, and two more chairs. Bikes and kayaks are free to use while you are there, and are all in good, working condition. The town beach is within biking distance of the cabin. Overall, I thought it was fine but too expensive for what it is. There is not a big woods or private feel, and the lack of privacy between the three bedrooms is a problem for a larger group. I was also disappointed that we couldn't see or hear the lake from the cabin. But, it was clean, well stocked, the owners were lovely, and the beach is beautiful.

The lake is mesmerizing at midnight when the mist rises off of it in the moonlight. We were told there were otters and beaver in the area, and we saw a muskrat right off of the pier. On the lovely drive up we saw some deer, bald eagles and a black bear. Make sure to follow the directions to their property that they send to you when you reserve. You'll be on a paved road most of the way, but then it turns into a gravel road. If it's been raining, there can be a gigantic puddle of water that you'll have to drive through; it stretches across the entire gravel road. It is passable; it just looks really scary, especially if you're in a big RV. It took three days for that puddle to dissipate. Bring bug spray for sure because there is water all around the tent sites after a rain. The playground and outhouse bathrooms were closed due to Covid, but the main bathroom/shower building was open and clean. Not a high-end restroom, but not rustic either. Be aware of their cancellation and no-show policies. There are no refunds, but they give credit instead. We changed from an RV site to a Tent site and so had a little over $20 coming to us. So we used that credit to get three $6 bundles of firewood instead. Since it rained the day we got there, the firewood was damp. It took us about an hour to get our campfire going the first night. We had to shred up every cardboard box we brought with us to use as kindling. So we went into Mellen the next day and bought some firestarter logs at the convenience store.

We made our reservation over the phone, I knew by sound of the womans kind voice and time she took to answer our questions before we reserved our site... it was the right place to stay. It was a very quite campground, plenty of "per-pay" wood. Beautiful small lake. We rented a pontoon for a couple of hours, no fish... but beautiful views. Also, we were close to Copper Falls State Park to do some biking/hiking. Would stay again, the owners were wonderful !!!

The restaurant did a fine job on the fish fry. We were satisfied and full when leaving. The better part is the variety of specials each week. Sushi night. Mongolian bbq night. Indian Curry & butter chicken night. Really. They also serve standards like burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fried mushrooms. This place is deep in the woods, right on a lake, at a campground, inside a wooden cabin bar and restaurant. Do you feel lucky? This place is worth a try.

Less than a block from the "Main Street", and 2 blocks to the Madeline Island ferry line. We awoke to beautiful sunrises in our backyard of Lake Superior. Maybe 20 feet from the water, with nothing in our way but the lovely patio table provided by the condo. We were traveling with my parents, so we opted for the 2 bedroom, 2 bath. The condo was spacious enough where we weren't crowded on top of each other, and had plenty of space. Toiletries are provided, even though the pamphlet said they were not, as was a hairdryer. Kitchen was huge, living room nice, although the tv was on the one and only switched outlet for the living room (issue for parents, not us - we weren't watching it). We thought the beds were hard. We compared it to sleeping on a box spring. Not great, but doable. And the microwave was from 1983, older than the cousin we came to see get married. But it worked! We checked in on Friday early afternoon, and their wireless worked. An hour later it stopped working, and we had a really hard time with the AT&T E network (sloooooooooooooow). Every time I called to the office, all we got was their answering machine. Sure, I could have left a message, but I didn't. My fault I guess, as I figured I'd eventually reach someone. I was wrong, so we never had wifi. Note: This property is managed by The Winfield Inn. All the other relatives who were staying in hotels were jealous of our place. Yeah, it's really nice. I'd stay here again without hesitation.

There are 3 - 4 rental units, all with living & sleeping areas and kitchenettes, and views of the lake. The owners were gracious, helpful, and respectful of guests' privacy. We stayed in one of the two "annex" suites, and enjoyed coffee on the deck in the morning (and watching the moon rise in the evening), and reading at the picnic table along the small beachfront of the property. Great for a reasonably priced, quiet get-away where most of the noise came from the waves lapping on the beach, the wind (and windchimes), and birds.

Bayfield Guest House is a cute house that has 5 suites, all with different names -- we stayed at Eerie Suite. It's a woman-owned company & you can definitely tell because there are so many wonderful things that made this place from good to great! The sheets, robes & towels are all INCREDIBLY soft. I appreciated all the amenities like makeup wipes, bath salt for the tub, and a bottle opener/wine corkscrew, just to name a few. Easy instructions for entry (push the keypad fast. Too slow & it will time out), plenty of reading material provided to know what to do & where to eat in town, plus easy walking distance from restaurants & shops. An amazing, refreshing stay!

(We slept really well in the Bear Den, which I assume is a sweet tribute to their friends outside.) We've never felt so welcomed - they treat guests like old friends. My husband and I will definitely be back to visit Ole & Lena's the next time the Lake Superior ice caves open.
