DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!! If I could give less than a star I would. Reservations needed and we made them. The wait in line to pay was still over an hour. When we loaded and got on the water A STAFF person told our crew to get our F**king A**ess on the water. A few explicit words were exchanged and we were on the water. When we got to the end THAT STAFF member called one wife a B**ch. Of course the husband went off! Next, one of the girls left a phone tied to the double kayak her and her husband shared. We went back to find the kayak and the phone was not there. I started calling the phone, we heard the phone in the woods hiding in some brush. Only staff members touch the kayaks when loaded (which the only double kayak there was). Safe to assume A STAFF member thought they had a new phone. read more

To begin with let me tell you the entrance for this place is scary AF. It's full of old buses and cars looks hideous honestly. You might think you'll get murdered here. In addition this place really needs a clean up and a redo. Even the house or building where you pay for kayaks is literally falling apart. Also I don't recommend using the restrooms here they are dirty and smell foul I think you'll be better doing it outside by the trees. Moreover price is fair and you'll definitely have fun. Also customer service was great the ladies were very nice. Also the river is about 3-4 hours long. There's some little areas where you can rest a long the way which is pretty nice. I was a touch worried after reading previous reviews! HOWEVER- we had a blast! You do have to get past the property grounds. They are a little different! But, everyone with the company was fantastic, friendly, and took great care of us. The float down the river was fantastic! We had four tubes, and a cooler tube that we rented from whitewater. We brought three of our own kayaks. We had ZERO issues with our own equipment. We paid our fees and had our ticket. So there was no problem putting in or taking off the river. You drive your car to the pick up area so when you finish you are already at your car! Great experience! Would absolutely book through them again! read more

We called in a reservation for eight kayaks set the time, day, etc. We drove over an hour to get there. We were introducing another family that had never gone before. We get there and they only have five kayaks total ..... And then they said they couldn't rent those because another party reserved them in four hours ..... It only takes three hours to go in a tube.... Going in a tube is disappointing when everyone is looking forward to kayaking.... Won't be back too many other locations to go from . And apparently they don't understand what a reservation is . read more

Best rafting/canoe/kayaking experience available in the area!!! For the price, which for us was only $20 per person, you get hours of relaxing and peaceful drifting or paddling the close to 10 miles of river. There are few moments that get intense as far as the water goes, but no moments in my two trips that required any intense paddle work or strength. This is also a great family-style event, or for small groups this could be a fun getaway from the stress of the normal day-to-day activities. We went yesterday to go tubing. I made a "reservation" the day before which was calling and the man on the phone asked my name and how many tubes I wanted. He said he put me on a "list." You cannot make reservations or pay in advance online. When you get there, it's like entering the scene in the movie Deliverance, back in the woods, tons of broken down buses, vans, at least twenty of them. The road is so narrow and yet people use it to go in both directions, the road is actually dangerous. It's overgrown, it's gravel, so there's dust on everything, all those old broken down buses on both sides of the road just coated in thick dust with cobwebs everywhere on them. Then, when you get there, it's basically just a field and you park wherever. The bathrooms are open air, barely functional, toilet paper literally hanging on wooden sticks. ONE shower and the day we went I'd say at least 500 people were there, minimum. Actually, when you enter into the bathrooms it's like entering into a cave, it's all stone walled and plaster like seriously in the old days pre-industrial age, I'd say. So, did making reservations help you in any way? I guess, but there is no "fast lane", the wait is an hour standing around on a gravel hill behind all the people who didn't make reservations, till you get to the top where there is an absolutely filthy, open air cabin with just junk all over the place. Think the broken down cars you met on the ride in was it? Nope, this is really a junkyard/tubing/rafting/canoeing/kayaking place. So, among all the canoes and all, there's rusted out metal junkyard cars. Now, you may think you've made it through the gauntlet. You survived the road in, you ignored every instinct that told you to LEAVE, but you persevered. You avoided the cave toilets and you made it up to the sacred cabin where amazingly, they have electricity (I guess) to operate a credit card machine, who knows. At this point, you are given a ticket and told to go down the hill AND GET IN ANOTHER LINE!!! Sooooo, the next line is the same dusty mess with people and their dogs and their dogs doing their "business" right next to the line!!! Our scout went to the front to see what was going on and LITERALLY they take one group at a time so if they got a raft, all the people using canoes/kayaks/tubes (the tubes are already blown up and in a pile) have to WAIT until they blow up that groups' raft!!! OMFG this place is operated by IDIOTS with ZERO management skills! Summary: it would take someone literally two hours to clean up their website and design it to make reservations and pay online. The first wait to pay was an hour. The second wait to get our tubes was an hour. So, if they tell you it takes x amount of hours to float the river, be sure to add in the TWO HOURS you have to wait on NONSENSE! That said, the river was beautiful and we had a great time! read more

Went with a few friends over the weekend looking to have a good time kayaking. It was a disaster from the start, with misinformation, confusion, and unhelpful staff, which resulted in at least +3 hours of dead, wasted time. There were no maps or signage indicating trip length, drop off, or pickup points. The buses only came every 45 mins, which is very slow for the area (+45 mins lost). When we finally got on the bus, we were told to get off at the 13 mile point, but we only wanted the 8. After confirming w driver, we stayed on. We then get dropped at the 5, which wasn't even open at this point. After a few calls with management, we are taken back to the start to reload and start the cycle over (+1 hour lost). At this point a manager gets on the bus to say 'you should have gotten off the first stop, the 5 doesn't even open till this afternoon', blaming us for something his staff should have known about! No apology at all for wasting an hour of our time and uninformed bus driver. We finally get back to the 13 mile point again, and are instructed to get in a line to get our boats. It was PACKED and the line was easily 2 hours long. At this point, I'm about to have a fit so I go to the front to talk to staff. They have no clue how long the line should take. Thanks. Luckily, someone else on staff says people renting kayaks and canoes don't even have to wait in line. Were they really going to waste a few more hours of my time? (+15 mins lost). Kayaking was fine once we were able to get in. We finish at the 5 mile point where we were erroneously dropped earlier. There's a bus driver we recognize there, so we get on the bus and are relieved we don't have to wait again. The bus driver doesn't say anything to us, and we finally stop. Guess what, it was the 13 mile drop point again! We are then told we got on the wrong bus, but that he will drop us at the right location out of his way. We start the cycle over back at the 5 mile point and drop off/reload again (+1 hour lost, AGAIN). How were we supposed to know the name of the drop points, when no one told us? After all of it, we should have gotten a refund, or at least an apology for the wasted time. I'm sure we were charged for 13 miles too. I've never had issues with other rentals in the area. We will not recommend or visit again. read more

Whitewater Canoe Rental is the only place to go canoeing in Indiana/Ohio! I have been coming here since I was a kid with my family. Since then, I've had birthday parties, family reunions, and even my sister's bachelorette party on the river! The owner is the nicest, most genuine guy and always takes care of you. I've never spent more than $20 on a trip and it consists of 3-7 hours of fun (depending on how fast you want to canoe). You don't pay by time nor distance, so you can make the trip whatever you want it to be! Along the route, you will be greeted by friendly canoers and swimmers! I am actually going tomorrow with a group of friends for my 22nd birthday! I can't wait! read more

Love this place, 3rd time here. Came in from Cleveland to visit friends. Prices are fair, basically $20 a person for a canoe, or split cost for a raft. Drinking is fine, some people bring floating coolers along for the ride. Since Ive only done this during the weekends, ill say that the weekends seem to be more of a 'party' atmosphere. Many other groups will have music playing, and tend to be loud'. Basically just having a great time on the river. We do the 4-5 hr ride, I believe you can float along the river for about 7 hrs going down to a further point The place can be confusing and even 'Friday the 13th' looking. Main entrance you are greeted with old buses and cars no longer in use. But don't let that deter from the quality of the place. Ill be here again next year! read more

I have heard things about this rental location being overcrowded during the weekends. It wasn't too busy when we went on a Saturday during the weekend, which could be due to us arriving shortly after when they opened. The water is somewhat shallow which does make it so Kayaks and canoes get stuck in the water easily. It looks rundown and dirty as you get there but the staff is friendly and the canoes and kayaks themselves are in decent shape and it was a fun experience with friends. I wouldn't say anything was great or anything was terrible about my experience. read more

They charge you $25 for a rundown, unorganized and very unprofessional place. We ended up parking in the "no parking zone" and had no idea. They had zero signs of where to park, where not to park, where to stand and, where not to stand. We moved our vehicle and in the meantime, we had a short old white man screaming and cursing at us to go get off their property. The gentleman was extremely unprofessional and very rude. They threatened to call the cops on us for no reason at all. We went back to the front office to ask for a refund and they closed up for the day. I don't recommend this place to anyone of any age. The place is falling apart and looks like a junkyard! I really wish I had got a video of how these people acted towards us. We also ended up talking to the local police who were very nice and told us they get complaints about this place all the time!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Me and my boyfriend called whitewater canoe rental in Brookville Indiana yesterday to ask what their prices were, and they told us it was $21 for one canoe and we asked if it was per person or if two people could fit in the canoe and he assured us that it was just $21. So we went with two of our friends and drove a little over 2 hours into another state. Once we get there they tell us it is $22 per person. The same And guy we talked to on the phone. And our friends didn't bring enough money down their for that bc they also had to pay the money in gas. So we go to leave(having not done anything there) and the only exist is blocked off. They continue to tell us that they are moving what they have blocked off. So we drive back down the hill and they tell us it's cleared to go. We drive back up and it's still there and they're still loading more things up onto this long truck. And we having to reverse back down this hill. They have things laying all throughout the path to drive such as paddles,canoes, kayaks etc. it was a complete safty hazard. this place was rude and dirty. There canoes are absolutely filthy along with everything else. we waisted over 4 hours (driving,waiting in long lines, dealing with an unhelpful and rude staff and figuring out how to even leave this shitshow of an establishment). read more

The place is very dirty and it took forever to pay for our raft we rented.Then we stood in line for an additional hour to get our raft.The toilets at the rental shack were running over into the outside they had built wooden planks to walk on.we were given no directions at all as to how long our 4 hour trip was. The canoes are nice and the staff is nice! The prices are reasonable however , being from out of town and seeing whitewater rafting we were misled! This is basically floating down a river! I have been coming here for years and have always had a very good time. Canoes, rafts, and kayaks are all available. I find their prices a little high especially when you're bringing 30-40 people in a group for the day (they give you like a $2.00 discount) and some of their staff members are quite rude while you're waiting to enter the water. All in all though, if you want a way to spend the day relaxing in the water and soaking up the sun rays, then here's the place to go. read more
