Scott is a great guy and a master electrician. He saved a chandelier that was very poorly installed by a handyman. Highly recommend him!

I placed an online order with Lighting Specialists in Utah and received an automated receipt…read more Then--nothing. No shipping notice, no follow-up for ten days. I emailed them and got no response. When I called, I reached someone who repeatedly said, "I only work in the showroom," but was able to check the order and told me, "It hasn't been processed yet" (read: nobody even looked at it for ten days). When I asked to be connected to the right department, I was told that person was "out of town." But the showroom person was able to cancel the order. Thankfully, this was a small purchase and not a critical part of my home remodeling project--but that's beside the point. Tip for Lighting Specialists in Utah: If you accept people's orders and money online, be prepared to process or respond to those orders within a couple of days--not 10 or more. It's not just bad service--it's irresponsible.

This past month working with Lighting Specialists has been a rock bottom one star experience…read more Years ago I have had many very good experiences and feel somewhat obligated to leave 3 stars because of that. I hope I just had a rare situation this time My bedroom celing fan had an integral part go bad. I had no light, no fan, nothing. I identified the problem part and we sought a replacement at Lighting Specialists. They took our money and said the part would be in around two weeks. A little over two weeks later we call asking about the status of our replacement part. Turns out they just charged us and never placed the order. No part was on its way for over two weeks. They said they were sorry and would order the part for real this time. Said it would be a couple weeks. This is when I got a bit angry and explained I had no light in my bedroom and why, since this was your mistake you couldn't overnight the part. Another week and a half later the part came in. Went to go pick it up and they wanted to charge us again, saying we didn't pay the first time. Another mistake on thier part. Finally a month later we are up and going again. I may have to look elsewhere for my next purchase.

Staff were very friendly. I knocked off a star for 2 reasons: because the aisles were a bit tight and the carts huge. Trying to pass people without knocking something off was a bit nerve wracking. Also, some incredibly high prices on a few decor items I've seen at Hobby Lobby and other stores. I found some really adorable items, but even Amazon sells them cheaper.

Not hugely high but certainly not bargain pricing either unless you are looking at seasonal stuff that is over with. That's always a decent deal. The main reason for my lower score was that the number of times we've been in and found a line with at least 3 people waiting and each person taking a minimum of ten minutes, some longer, to get through the cashier makes it actually painful to come here. They always seem to keep the place understaffed. Trying to find someone is tough and I don't think I've seen more than one yET at the register no matter how long the lines are. They are quick to apologize for the wait. The computers are often adding to the problem being slower than molasses to ring you up. The staff are always pleasant but the experience is consistently one that has me saying I wont go back and will try and find a different place to buy my home decor needs.

As the weather is warming, I have been making my rounds to several stores in search of the things I need for spring gardening. This week, it was a trip to IFA to grab some fertilizer for lawn. I don't do a lot of fertilizing here, but since my former lawn care days, I help out a lot of other folks and if you're into fertilizing (which, you know, has its pros and cons) then IFA's 4-step system is a pretty slick way to get enviable grass. This store is one of the smaller ones in the area but for sure they've moved things around and made more space as it's an entirely different setup than it used to be in that original review. I thought ten years ago that they may struggle to make a go in Draper as more and more rural, agricultural land becomes housing, but they're still there kicking making the most of their square footage. It's a very compressed garden area (but lots of the bulk materials are stored out front) with just a few small aisles dedicated to the thing you love them for: tack and saddle goods, beekeeping supplies, birdfeeders and seed, kitchen materials, and many more. They don't have a huge clothing section, but there's still plenty of warm and durable work clothes there if that's what you're after. I'm very pleased to report that the chicks are in for 2021. They're adorable. But I caution you that unless you really mean it (and are buying the heat lamp, and feeder, and have a coop plan) just pass on them because having chickens is a big deal, and not an impulse buy. But yes, DO go and look at them. If given my choice, I'd probably go to the IFA in American Fork once a week, but this mini version in Draper is also a nice substitute when you need some seeds, or weed killer, or that fertilizer. Or a saddle. Or boots. Or BBQ equipment. Or...
