They have a lot of variety which makes it such a great surf shop to check out. It's really easy to find parking on the side of the building in their lot and/or street parking. Their customer service is great as well as they always greet us, ask us if we need any help, and also help when we do have questions. Everyone is really kind and helpful honestly. Makes shopping here such a good experience.

It took me and two others to track Shawn, the owner down. After constantly asking, we got our order at 9:30pm on the 25th, by meeting the guy in a local park in his white van. Turns out, the count was off and the shirts were done incorrectly. In addition to this, the shirts were different brands and qualities. It was such a nightmare. In fact, it was not until Thursday, October 9th that I had to drive to his house to pick up the remainder of the order. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Located off the main road 101, Real Surf is an Oceanside shop that caters to all of your surfing needs. It's where you can rent your board, wetsuit, wax; the works and hit the water (which is just a couple of blocks down the road). I don't surf, but I could see that their board inventory was extensive and their customer service was knowledgeable and superfriendly. But the apple of my eye was definitely their clothing line!! Real Surf Shop has the BEST locally-themed clothing inventory in the city. I'm not talking about generic, tourist-styled designs with "Oceanside" on them. I'm talking about some very witty, comical logos and designs that are indicative & representative of life in Oceanside. If you're an Osider or city local, you NEED to get one of their shirts, tanks, hoodies or hats. Some Logos Include: "Keep Oside Real" "Localization Not Gentrification" and "Oside Takes Care of its Own" All of these should resonate with an Osider. Even more importantly, the staff is down-to-earth and truly care about their community. They give back to and are representative to the spirit of the Oceanside Community Unity. Rich?) was incredibly helpful explaining the differences in sandals, how to fit them, and with helping us figure out which were best for my kid. He let him try on all the pairs, talked to him about which were better for his needs and how they should fit. He didn't have to do any of this, but did! Challenge was they were sold out of my son's size. This man coulda tried to talk him into something else (wherein we would have left temporarily happy but ultimately displeased), but he did not. He sent us down the way to another local shop in the hopes they'd have what we needed (they also did not). We returned and he made sure to give my son the model info so we could buy the right ones on our own and was super helpful and pleasant about all of it. Sure, I would have preferred to buy them directly at the store, but it wasn't to be and unlike some big box or online place, he gave wonderful human service like only a small shop can. 100% recommend coming here for some shopping. They have a good wetsuit selection, body boards and surf boards for sale, wax, Vans, swimsuits, sandals, clothing and more. The inventory is great and the staff is a bonus. Thanks again, Asylum!

The beach itself is lined with private property. If you brave the water you can walk north and hit Buccaneer beach, which has sand if that's the kind of beach you want. But I'm not into sand and preffered sitting on the seat benches on the stairs and staring out into the water. Great place to catch the sunset. The first time I went I was able to see a few dolphins, or were they sharks? I'm hoping dolphins. You could see the pier from this spot. Pros: - Plenty of street parking (though be aware of when they do street cleaning) - Few benches along the stairs, and at the top near the street - Great views - Dog on leash friendly, especially if you dog loves the water. Saw plenty of people walking their down up and down Cons: - Not the kind of beach you would lay out on a towel on - Low tide left you only a few feet width of wet sad you could walk along - Bigger rocks piled had multiple signs saying how unstable they were and be careful, though I saw plenty of kids/adults risking it and climbing all over them to get a great spot Would I come again? The front part of the left fin base covers the fin box screw so it cannot get installed properly. I guess who needs the screw right? Maybe just glue em in with resin? At the time I bought em, I was pretty stoked on the price and not having to pay an arm and leg that the big name brands typically charge (and to also support a non big brand), but shows what I know. Sent them an email regarding this issue, but never got a response so I'm stuck with these. Maybe I'll sand off that base? Anyways, hope the quality control has improved since.
