I tried my first barre class yesterday... I was a little nervous but had no reason to be. Collette was a fantastic instructor, offering reminders on form and modifications if needed. I have knee issues and she was great about coming over to offer tips on how to modify some of the moves. She did that a few times with others also. It is a small studio, there were only six of us in the class, but I liked that she was able to stay engaged with us the whole time. The time went faster than I anticipated, I'm less sore than I expected (even after my muscles going to failure a few times), and I'm looking forward to my next class. Yes, parking can be a challenge but it's CapHill... can't really do much about that... the price seems a touch steep ($20 a pop, with the first one free) but the instruction (and I'm sure the results) seem worth it... read more

Amanda's professionalism and dance knowledge base is spot on and non intimidating whatsoever! After making the rounds with some other barre gyms around Denver, I am so grateful this one ends up being right in my neighborhood. Some of the barre classes I have been to at other gyms left me wondering if it was even an effective workout. The routines were never varied, and I often left bored, not feeling like I did anything productive, or like I may have been injuring myself. At Whole Body Barre, the classes are always an absolute blast and I leave feeling stronger! The instructors are attentive and energizing. They are responsive to questions and signing up for membership was a breeze. I've always had quick responses to any email questions about my membership. I am so grateful I found this Whole Body Barre and love their pilates classes too! It is a smaller gym, and classes can get busy--but I think the smaller size is another advantage as well. read more

Awesome class! Never taken a barre class before, didn't know what to expect. I'm new to denver and I was a little nervous about starting a new class, but the instructor was so friendly and fun. Even the other girls taking the class (it was a small class of 5 of us) were very friendly and cool, a couple of the other girls were new as well, I instantly felt welcomed and excited. The class was so much fun, with a blend of ballet, pilates, and yoga, which was perfect for me. I haven't honestly had a workout that effective for a long time, and my body aches today haha. I tried whole body barre with ClassPass. This is a small neighborhood studio, so there's not really any facilities. Instructor was friendly and attentive, I'd recommend to someone who live around there. However parking was a pain when I went early in the morning. Dana, the owner, is the best. She knows her stuff and is so very caring about each of her clients. Also, she is very careful about the teachers she hires. Every class I have ever taken at Whole Body has been taught by a skilled, experienced and knowledgeable teacher who has taken a special interest in my needs as well as the needs of others in the class. My favorite barre studio in Denver by far. It's not corporate feeling and they don't make you wear socks, which I think is a rip off for barre studios to make money anyways. Barre and socks do not go together. All the instructors are so nice and personalize the workouts to your needs and injuries in a way that you can still get a great workout. This is a great studio! I had never done Barre before, but their "first class free" offer prompted me to give it a try. I've been looking for something to stick with for a while and I think I've found it. I don't dread going and feel great afterwards. Class sizes are small so the instructors can pay attention to you, answer questions, etc. I have various issues with my lower back and shoulders and they always help me to find alternate ways to do an exercise so I'm still benefitting, but not hurting myself. And in addition to that, they give me tips on how to strengthen my back (instead of just working around it). How I love this studio! I've taken classes with Marie, Allison, Kim and Dana (the owner) and this place is just fantastic. I have an annoying list of injuries but am still pretty athletic and these ladies are always accommodating while still giving me a great workout. I once ended up in a class with Marie where I was the only student and in 5 minutes she corrected my posture and figured out why I have great upper abs and virtually no lower abs. Allison's morning barre class is the best I've taken in Denver, and Dana is a genuinely caring individual who wants to help her clients succeed with their fitness goals and beyond. This studio is so incredible! I love that it has such a relaxed vibe and all of the instructors are so knowledgable and empowering. After a class you always leave feeling strong and confident. The owner, Dana, is one of my new favorite people! She really makes you feel at home at Whole Body and she is just an all around lovely person. This studio is for so much more than just Barre classes! I first tried the studio after doing pilates for a couple years, and realizing I needed to move my body in more ways to really challenge it and create balance. I wandered into a Corrective Clinic (held in the Barre studio) with Christina. The name of the class can sound daunting, but don't be afraid. I wish I could recommend it a million times over! Christina helped me locate the imbalances in my body, but rather than just avoiding those weak/hurt areas, we worked to strengthen and align my joints. For example, like so many other people, I have "bad" knees. Because of that, I just avoided excessive movements with my knees -- I literally hadn't squatted, lunged, or jumped in years. After working with Christina in her class for about two months (I'd say I went about 2x a week), the improvement in my mobility and stability was UNREAL. I can't even express my gratitude. I can now squat, lunge....and even do single legged lifts and single leg squats on a bosu ball! I didn't even imagine that sort of progress was possible. Like so many others, I thought bum knees (and I also have bad feet and bad wrists -- the total package) would just be my way of life. I never imagined I could work my way back to doing the things I'd given up long ago. It has influenced my entire life. I can hike, jump around, ski, etc. To give you an idea of what the Corrective classes are: it's sort of like physical therapy meets strength training. You'll start with what your body can handle, and then target those imbalances through creative methods. We used bands, balls, benches, and sometimes small weights. There's also targeted stretching and rolling out (foam rolling) to relax overactive muscles, etc. Corrective training is the perfect compliment to an already active lifestyle. (I love doing it along with my pilates, cardio, and yoga.) It's also great if you're recovering from an injury. Oh, and she's a magician with those of us who sit down all day at work! Her knowledge of how to correct that bent posture, and stiff bent leg is amazing. Taking the Corrective classes has even helped alleviate my acute hand/wrist problems. I was in so much pain when I first took classes with Christina, that I couldn't sleep at night. I can now work with less pain (I'm a jeweler), and can even hold weights like I hadn't been able to. I don't write many reviews, but I felt compelled to write about the Corrective classes. They truly changed my life, my work, and my body. I just want to spread the word. I had no idea classes like this even existed before stumbling into hers. In fact, this might be the only class like it in Denver or in Colorado -- you're missing out if you don't try one! Longest review ever...but I can't stop there. I've also taken classes with Amanda and Marie (both are amazing, kind, and lovely!). I love every class I've tried at Whole Body. Class sizes are tiny (sometimes just one or two people, which is an insane deal). And the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. These aren't just teachers who took a random course and then woke up one day and decided to teach. Their knowledge is extensive, and most have degrees and certifications beyond the scope of most instructors out there. I've tried so many studios in Denver; none rival the expertise and kindness of the teachers at Whole Body. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Whole Body Barre. I love this place! It is small and intimate and all the instructors get to know all the clients and what their bodies need. The instructors will make sure you have good form so you don't hurt yourself and will recommend modifications as necessary. All of them are really well trained and develop new routines all the time. Quite honestly, I don't think I've had had the same routine twice and I've been coming here for over two years. Big shout out to Sam who teaches an amazing barre sculpt class, Teagan who kicks my butt in her circuit training class, and Shilah for her yoga class that is just what I need. I used to go to one of the "corporate" barre studios and I never got individualized attention like I do at Whole Body. Plus, the monthly membership pricing cannot be beat! It's the best deal in town. And the studio has more than simply barre classes that are included in the membership. You can take yoga classes and circuit training classes, plus a variety of barre "flavors" (sculpt, intense, and cardio). In terms of parking, I've never had to park more than two blocks away. And the reality is, I'm coming for an exercise class so I shouldn't be complaining about having to walk a couple of blocks anyway. read more
