My wife was in tears. We are both world travellers and it is accurate to say that this experience, from dispatch to customer service to the driver, was the worst cab experience ever. He dropped us off at Coconuts to have a drink and told us about a "secret" menu item called "Scooby Snacks", or crab claws in butter and garlic with fresh bread for dipping. He then picked us back up on the agreed upon time and took us back to our hotel. There is no cost, but the drivers work for tips, so tip generously! When my husband and I left the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, we needed a ride to our hotel. I had considered using my phone to request a ride from Uber or Lyft, but I noticed several taxis waiting nearby, so I decided to use the first taxi, which said "Sunshine" on the side. The taxi driver helped my husband and me to put our two suitcases in the back of the van. My husband and I used one door to climb into the back seat. The driver began to drive away, but I noticed that my seatbelt was stuck inside the other door, so we repeatedly asked the driver to stop driving. He stopped driving, and he opened the door so I could pull the seatbelt out. The driver did not wear his seatbelt. The interior of the van looked like it had a worn condition, particularly for the seats and seatbelts. According to my Google Maps app on my cell phone, this driver drove us directly to our hotel. He did not take any meandering route. At the hotel, he removed our suitcases from the back of his vehicle. According to the screen inside the van, the cost for the ride was $19-something (I forget the exact cents), but the driver told us outside that the cost was $20-something. My husband did not want to use the credit-card machine inside the vehicle, because he felt concerned about skimming. He had only 20-dollar bills, and he did not want to give over a 100% tip, so he asked the driver for a $10 bill in change. The driver made a face but did hand over the $10 in change. I think that a $10 tip for a $19-something ride is a good tip, so I would have preferred that the driver not make a face.

The only hang up was when I tried to explain the security at the condo we were staying at and the guy acted like I was wasting my time because he already knew. Yet, upon arrival, there was trouble with security... Oh well, not the driver's fault. The driver showed up on time, helped with bags, and got us to the airport quickly. He was courteous and friendly and his car was spotlessly clean. If you need a ride to the airport, or anywhere, check this company out because they do really good work!

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, around 10:30 PM, we were picked up by Intercity Taxi #521 (license plate CK27PG) in the taxi line outside baggage claim #1 at FLL. The driver took us to the Hilton Marina hotel but, upon arrival, demanded payment in cash, claiming his credit card reader was not working. The fee he quoted us also seemed very high and unreasonable for the trip length. At no point during the ride or when we entered the cab did the driver mention any issue with card payments. When we explained that we didn't have cash and needed to pay by credit card, he became argumentative and insisted we go inside the hotel to use the ATM. I asked him if he was scamming us and he became more aggressive, shouting at us. I began photographing his vehicle and when I photographed his license plate, he tried to grab my phone out of my hand. A staff member at the Hilton witnessed the incident and stepped in to assist us and the driver quickly left. The exchange was very scary and unsettling. We found out later that is a common scam in this area. It is illegal for a taxi to operate in this county without a working credit card machine. Passengers in similar situations have been kidnapped by drivers. Be careful using taxis from the airport especially. And always check for a running meter and display of the taxi's driver's license. After another half an hour, 1 hour has passed in total; called, picked up after several dial-tones then hung up. This Taxi's Customer Service is very rude and would highly recommend to use any other service (Uber, Lyft, etc.), if possible. If i could give "no stars", i would however THIS is the lowest possible rating unfortunately.
