My parents are from SEMO and started eating here back in the 1950s. Although I grew up in St. Louis, we always ate lunch here when visiting family, downing our sandwiches at the counter that's been replaced by booths. After I had kids, we started bringing them in when visiting family. When my son moved to Texas for school, he jokingly requested that we stop at Wib's and bring him a sandwich when we visited. We pulled in when they opened, ordered 20 sandwiches, and packed them in a cooler for the drive down. We had one very surprised and happy student! Would we love Wib's as much if we had it every day? Maybe not, but we love eating here when we're in town. Two hot outsides for my partner, two extra hot combinations for me, and a fries to share. Mmmm. Enjoy it if you live there! We'll be back next time we're in town.

Awesome local BBQ joint... Unique toasted BBQ sandwiches... Add homemade pimento cheese for a great tasting combo. Long-time owners are family friends. People from long distances away make sure they stop off I55 for a Wibs (fix) when possible! :)

We love this place. We are from Indiana but every time we come back to Jackson our son has to get two outside combo extra hot.

Love this place! The pimento cheese is amazing on the BBQ sandwiches. (adds just the right amount of heat)

I've been eating at Dexter BBQ forever! Their ribs are a staple at our family holiday gatherings…read more Today was the first time I'd visited the Jackson location. My parents have been divorced for over 30 years but the one thing they agree on is they love Dexter BBQ. I was coming in town from St. Louis and my mom asked me to bring back ribs for her. I was going to Scott City to see my dad and he asked that I pick up Dexter BBQ for dinner that afternoon. After 2+ hours in the car, my dogs were ready to get out. I called in my order and asked if I could come in and get some ice cream for my dogs and she said absolutely. So, I ran inside, grabbed them some delicious soft serve and came out. They LOVED it! I put them back in the car while I ran in to get some ice cream for myself and get my food. Well, my one dog is a total chow hound. My hands were super full so the nice lady helped me carry everything outside to the car so I could juggle it while holding him back and not letting him escape while loading in the delicious food. When we walked outside, he had his nose out the sunroof and his little sniffer was working on overtime!!! Of course, the food was delicious as always, love the slaw, the customer service was top notch, and my dogs were in heaven!!!

It had a hard, tacky consistency on the outside that gave a resemblance of a crust. That was almost chewy. The sides amd sauce are the only redeeming factors. This is sad. I came for bbq. Not sides. I had originally wanted the ribs. However to my dismay, they were serving BABY BACK RIBS instead of the original ribs for which they are known for. This was and currently is, as I struggle to chew this floor mat of a pork steak, a complete and utter waste of my time. But I paid $17 for this. So I'm going to eat it. This time. There will not be another.

Well, sugar, let me tell you about my little stop at Tractors Classic American Grill in Jackson,…read moreMissouri. I had high hopes for this place! I ordered the cranberry apple salad with grilled chicken, thinking I'd get just a little something light. It was supposed to be a half order, but honey, it sure didn't look like half--either they were being generous or someone missed the memo. The price, however, sure wasn't light--over sixteen dollars for a salad that didn't exactly sparkle. To be fair, the salad itself wasn't bad. The grilled chicken was seasoned nicely, and those little pops of cranberry added a nice sweetness. But the apple slices were tired, bless their heart--soft and browning like they'd been sittin' out at the church potluck a little too long. What really left a sour taste, though, wasn't the fruit--it was the service. When I politely asked the young man at the counter about the price, he snapped, "It's gone up," and just walked away. No "I'm sorry," no smile, not even a nod. That kind of rudeness don't sit well with me. So here's the bottom line: Tractors has potential, and that salad could've been a winner with fresh ingredients and a little Southern hospitality. But no matter how good the food is, if the service leaves you feeling unwelcome, it's hard to come back.
