    Fresh meats for days!
    Jay B.

Ya know, they really oughta nickname the town of Bedford "Booji Town". Because this is where New Hampshirites come to empty their wallets. So, it's a high end butcher shop. *ahem* ... 'Scuse me, butchah shop. How I happened by this place was actually through word-of-mouth via the NH subreddit. When I saw they had a fairly good average (despite having far too few reviews), I knew this would be the ideal place to purchase my first home cooked prime rib. Now, this review shall be a special treat for some of you. Because for once, I get to show off a bit of my limited cooking skills, whilst also showcasing the would-be end results of consuming such high quality produce in the privacy of one's own home. As you can see, the selection is vast! I couldn't stop taking pictures, but kinda had to restrain myself in case the staff or management assumed I was somebody important. Fish, chicken, beef, pork? WGB has you covered. As mentioned, we stopped in for a nice prime rib. They have two cuts, Grade A and Prime (if I'm remembering those correctly...please don't @ me). Let's just nickname them "good enough cut" and "booji cut". Long story short, the booji cut has more marbling; ergo, more naturally buttery flavor. Since this was an extra special treat I was providing for myself and family, I opted for the additional flavor. This was my first attempt at roasting a prime rib at home and I gotta say...it came out really good! About an 8 out of 10, if I'm being completely transparent. I gotta tweak some things with the recipe. But ultimately, temp control is the key to cooking a juicy, tender prime rib. I had a chance to peak at some of the other items available here and noted the steaks are also priced significantly higher than the grocery store. Perhaps one day I might try a rib eye from here just to see how it turns out on the grill. Evidently, they have a counter in the front that also sells sides and sandwiches. Dunno if I'd ever personally use this, but it's there for folks who wanna grab a quick bite to-go. Oh, and a shout out to the outstanding staff who quickly helped us and explained the choices of cuts they had. They were also wicked accommodating when it came to portioning the requested weight. Show up with your wallets loaded, folks! Cuz this place is the real deal. I'm affectionately giving Wicked Good Butchah 5 tender, juicy, med-rare slices of prime rib out of 5.

A wonderful family owned business in the heart of Bedford. Their products and prices are incredible. My favorite part is the burrito bar!

I have also joined their "Rent the Chicken" program. I used to own chickens years ago and it was a lot of work. "Rent the chicken" was a super fun & easy way to have chickens and enjoy farm fresh eggs every day! I toured their farm and all the animals are in very spacious and comfortable living spaces. They are treated like LOVED pets! Also, the Templeton's are very friendly and professional. I learn something new about animals every time I go to TFO! The service is outstanding! Look forward to my next visit to the Templeton Family Organics Farm!!

If you have never had a farm fresh chicken, it really is something to try. It is hard for many people to understand why there is such a difference in grocery store prices vs farm prices (and then, organic farm prices). It's worth it to me because the flavor is so insanely better than anything I have bought at a store. This meat is even better than the chicken we get from a local non-organic farm. The other differences I noticed is that the skin is much heartier. It does not split easily. It's a healthier chicken, so the collagen is not compromised. My proof is also in the bottom of the pan. There was not much fat once the juices cooled. They solidified into gelatin, which tells me the collagen is healthier. We both noticed when eating the meat from bones, the bones actually had flavor! So, I cannot wait to get another one and make chicken stock from the bones. Also, the chicken was very big. I was under the misconception that only GMO feed and steroid injected chickens get that big at that young age. Not true. What is true is that all parts are proportionately large. As opposed to grocery store chickens that have huge breast meat areas, and the other parts are small. This chicken clearly got great exercise. We also got a sugar pumpkin. It was wonderful too. Some pie pumpkins are very hard to cut into, the skin is like bark. These pumpkins cut well, roasted well and had a nice autumn flavor. I will be making my pie soon. We ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving. I am very much looking forward to it. The turkeys are raised the same way the chickens are, and I am quite certain the flavor and quality will be unbelievable.

I love cooking more Eastern style food at home. Some of these ingredients are not found in the traditional NH grocery stores. I went there a second time last week, and I will be coming back whenever I need supplies in Manchester. Some of the things I get here, are the black chickpeas(channa), besan(chickpea flour) for pakoras (gluten free too), large size bags of restaurant quality garam masala, paneer(India cheese), Kashmiri chili powder, and many, many more things. Indian food is not the easiest cuisine to learn, but is super delicious, and has many healthy ingredients. Don't get me wrong I love chicken tikka masala, and lamb saag etc, but I often make curried chickpeas (channa masala) and they are great leftover cold on salad, or in a wrap with some rice, and yogurt/sour cream etc. They also have some frozen delights for those wanting something for a quick meal. They also have some produce, and hard to find items. It is also right across the street from Market Basket, and that one has a good selection, of hispanic, and Mediterranean ingredients, plus everything else you would expect.
