What an amazing place this is. Great food and the best service with the nicest people. But please understand the people who work there are actual humans. If something is wrong let them know don't wine about it in sites like this. Restaurants would be happy to make up for it. First time at this spot and enjoyed dinner with friends. All of us were happy with our meals overall, although there could be room for improvement. Service was good, pleasant and food came from the kitchen promptly. Note that they do not have a full liquor license. We started with the shepherds pie egg rolls, which were quite good. Generous portion and tasty, and an unusual twist on egg roll filling. I had the burger and ordered one with candied bacon which was delicious. I've had better and worse burgers. While the meat patty and toppings were good, the bun was unusual, firm almost hard and frankly not enjoyable. I ate the burger sans bun. Also the fries seemed like they were sitting for a while, a pet peeve of mine. They really need to be fried to order or I won't eat them. If you are going to splurge and eat fries, they have to be good, and sadly these were not. Again, overall we were happy. Our server was top notch, super attentive, always topping off drinks & checking in. We started with the wellington bites, which were OK (i really like beef wellington, and shouldn't have that high of expectations. It's essentially a mini steak tip in a puff pastry. Also had th seafood stuffed mushrooms that were really good. We ordered two tomahawk steaks. Was disappointed we couldn't upgrade/substitute for the potatoes au gratin. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were nice & tender, but felt they lacked seasoning/flavor. Should I go back, I'd probably order the ribeye to see if that was a better fit for my tastes. Overall a good experience, but I was really hoping for another "Tuckaway Tavern" where there's both an amazing butchery display as well as an amazing restaurant. The service was great and we really liked our server (Amie? Amanda? I suck at names)! The shepards pie eggrolls were OK but I think lamb really would have made it better. All the flavor seems to be in the gravy on top. The Fillet was cooked almost perfectly and was tender and the Rib Eye also was cooked well but seasoning seemed a bit off. Great spot in Merrimack to grab a burger, steak or BBQ and a beer! The atmosphere inside has a pub feel while still being very family friendly. They do often have some fresh smoked BBQ, and when they do that platter is a must-order. My other favorite on the menu is the steak tips -- they're a generous portion, always cooked perfectly (I order mine medium rare) and seem to be high-quality beef. If you ask, sometimes they have special flavors different from what's on the menu (it's helpful to take a peek in the butcher half of the business and see what they have marinating. The service is also excellent and all the wait staff is very friendly. I've never had to wait for anything and don't find my glass empty very long before someone stops by offering a refill. read more

Eaten there 3 times now. Each time a great burger, cooked properly to order. Hand cut fries served in a separate holder so they stay hot! My guest had steak tips: tasty, with good charcoal markings. Side of fresh green beans with light butter and garlic seasoning. Potato skins were actually a sliced baked potato with butter and cheese, not classic but delicious nevertheless! Awesome sandwiches. If you're looking for a quick bite, the steak and cheese, French dip, Reuben are all very good and fairly priced. Yesterday was my third visit to Tomahawk. We had planned on having a nice, quiet birthday dinner. I've ordered the steak tips each time I've been there, and each time I've had a different experience. Sadly it's been going downhill. After yesterday's meal I doubt I'll go back, well not for the steak tips anyway. I think Sarah O. nailed it when she called it a plate full of grizzle. I commented to my wife that it was a Heimlich maneuver waiting to happen. No matter how much I chewed that piece of steak it was not going to give. $33 for utility grade meat just doesn't cut it. For what it's worth the service was attentive and good. My wife says her burger was very good. Yes, I probably should have sent it back, but I'm not big on confrontation and I didn't want to end the birthday on a sour note. For $33 sending it back shouldn't have to be an option. read more

Had a terrific dining experience yesterday at Tomahawk. We weregreeted by the hostess and after a brief wait were seated. Our server greeted us with a smile and was very welcoming. Bar area and dining room was set up nicely. We ordered some drinks and apps coconut shrimp and the shepherds pie egg rolls. Delish. Entrees were tomahawk burger Caesar salad with steak tips and steaks sirloin and two ribeye steaks. Served with mashed potatoes green beans and onions. Not a morsel remained and we shared the cheesecake for the table. A great meal great service and a fun vibe. No doubt we will be back. read more

I had an excellent experience here! The server was attentive and prompt. I have three adult grandchildren that have dinner at Nana's every other Tuesday. This particular Tuesday I decided to treat all of us to a meal out at a restaurant that had recently been recommended, Tomahawk Tavern. Well, we were not disappointed. Great service and excellent tomahawk steak. It is expensive, but most certainly worth it. Definitely not the absolute best out there but most certainly worth a five star. After our time spent at the Campers Inn RV place last week (see previous review), we headed up the road for a late lunch. Not knowing anything about this place save for a little on-line Yelp research, it turned out to be a gem. On one side of this establishment there is a deli/butchery and on the other is the restaurant. It is a fairly large place where there is a long bar area, some high-top tables and some booths. Despite the fact there was only one jumbo horseshoe shaped booth available, the hostess told us it was fine for just the two of us to occupy it. Most places might have held off letting two people sit in a booth where 4 or 5 people could sit comfortably. It was nice of them since we didn't want to sit at the bar nor at the high-top tables but hadn't even voice those things. In front of the bar, there were two large TVs showing football games and to our pleasure we could not hear anything coming from the TVs...we are not football fans and generally speaking don't love "sports bars"...I didn't get the loud, raucous sports bar feeling at all from this place which is a good thing. We had a lovely waitperson whose name I didn't catch but she came over right away and poured us waters and took drink orders. There is full bar service here. They also have a list of craft beers for those who like those. In addition to the water, I had a glass of wine and my husband had a non-craft beer. The menu has lots of options and as there is the deli/butchery next door there are, as you might expect, a lot of deli type sandwich options. Tom ordered a Reuben which is one of his favorite sandwiches. I noted a fried fish sandwich on the menu and asked our waitperson about it. She told me that she thought it was a delicious sandwich and in fact she said she had a recent customer who told her that the fish sandwich was "the best fish sandwich she has had" and in fact better than a recent one she had apparently eaten recently on the coast of Ireland. That was enough for me so I ordered it. Both my sandwich and Tom's came with a choice of "Tomahawk" fries (like steak fries so on the thicker side) or sweet potato fries. We each ordered the signature Tomahawk fries. True to the waitperson's word, my fish sandwich....very lightly and delicately breaded haddock on a toasted brioche bun.... was absolutely fresh tasting and delicious. It had a mayo-aioli type dressing on it...not too heavy, and shredded lettuce. I ate it all in one sitting versus usually having half my meal to take home. The fries were quite good too. Tom loved his Reuben and felt the corned beef quality was high and sliced perfectly...not too thick, not too thin. There is a dessert menu but we are not huge dessert eaters plus we were too full. It was odd to me though that of the dessert choices most of them involved chocolate. I am sure that is a favorite with many but I am not a huge chocolate dessert person. If I had wanted dessert, there was nothing on that menu I would have ordered. I think they need to branch out and maybe add a couple of decidedly non-chocolate options. This was a good way to end our jaunt up to NH. I would most certainly return to eat here. read more

Got a large steak specia for a post workout meall. Super delicious with a great meat to bread ratio. It had plenty of steak that was tender. The cheddar cheese was perfectly melted around the steak, pepper, and onions. For next time I'd add hot sauce to give it some spice but overall it was delicious. The price is fair for its worth. The service was good as I was greeted coming in and on the way out the chef was kind enough to ask if I needed any condiments. The ambiance was quite and relaxed as I arrive just as they opened around 11am on a Saturday. The other side of the place looks like a good place to watch sports with friends while enjoying great food. I plan on coming back to try more different items on the menu and take some good quality looking meats home. read more

I ordered the steak tips which were $33, a little high for steak tips I thought, but since I was at a steak place I figured they would be really good. What I got, was a plate of grizzle. Have been to this place before for lunch. Great steak tips and sandwiches etc for a lunch spot. Tonight went for dinner. To start, I made a reservation as recommended and had indicated regular seating. Upon arrival waited for 10 minutes for someone to come to the hostess stand and then was brought to a high top. Not ideal but we rolled with it. Our server came over and took our order, buffalo wings to start and then the Tomahawk steak for two. Kudos to our server because at that point she then said she was moving us to a booth because we would need more room for the dishes! The buffalo wings were deeelicious. Well cooked, crispy and juicy, wings with the perfect amount of sauce. The main course on the other hand was a disappointment. The tomahawk steak was brought on a wooden cutting board with about 1oz of mushrooms in a tiny metal container. Steak was unevenly cooked after I had to carve it off the bone using a less than ideal serrated knife. Good quality meat, however it had ZERO seasoning. Salt and pepper shakers were on the table so this was relatively easy to resolve. Loaded baked potato comes deconstructed, I.e. you get containers with the ingredients and get to decorate a slightly warm potato. Needless to say I was not impressed, and the limp mushy broccoli certainly didn't add anything to uplift the meal. I will be back for the lunch offerings, however will avoid the steak and dinner offerings as the price does not match my expectations there. We decided to try this place last minute. And boys am I glad we did. I had the Brie & Hot Honey Burger. It was cooked to perfection and I got the sweet potatoes with it. The burger was delicious, the sauce is not what I expected. I think it's made with Franks Hot Sauce and Honey , too much of the Franks for my liking. My husband got the Candied Bacon Burger with Pepper Jack Cheese and regular fries. He enjoyed the burger was a lil more well than medium but he said the flavor was great. This place is definitely a gem. Staff were friendly. Only downsize we saw is it's beer and wine only. We will definitely go back as that is one of the best burgers I have had in a while. read more

I've always enjoyed the food and we've gotten many takeout orders from here, but last time the wellington bites had hard bits in them and today we had a really bad service experience. I placed an online order and toasttab told me a time to pick it up. I sent a screenshot to my husband with the time it would be ready. When he got to Tomahawk, the woman told him she didn't have the order. He showed her the screenshot and she was rude to him and didn't offer to take his order so he could wait for it. She just walked away. It wasn't busy. Why don't you want to take the order again if there was a glitch? It's not late. No apology, which I guess since it was the site, she didn't feel was necessary. But why the rudeness? I guess she thought he was trying to get free food? I don't understand it. I understand that something must have gone wrong with toasttab, but that's not our fault. When I went back to toasttab through the link, even though it had given me the order confirmation, everything was still in the cart. So I'm not sure why it popped up a completed order screen. The food is usually pretty good and I'll miss it, but the complete lack of desire to help and rudeness makes me not want to return. read more

I reserved a booth for Saturday at 6 PM and arrived promptly, but we were left waiting. It was clear that something was not right. After 10 minutes, I inquired if there was a problem and was told, "No, your table is ready, and you'll be seated in a moment." After another 5 minutes, we were escorted to a high-top table. I informed the hostess that I had booked a booth. She asked if I made the reservation online, and I confirmed that I did. She then told me that I could not choose where to sit, turned around, and walked away. This was incorrect, as OpenTable asks if you want standard or high-top seating. I never received an apology for the delay or for the seating mix-up. This experience left a bad impression on me, and I won't return. read more

Great local spot to get good food and good beer. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so if you go during peak hours be prepared for a wait. There is a bar top that you can sit at to order dinner as well, we did that to avoid the wait. They have a good variety of beer and wine to choose from and tons of TVs to watch sports. There is even an individual TV for each booth where you can control the channels. We started with the special appetizer- goat cheese tots with truffle aioli. AMAZING. Get it while they've got it! He got the Reuben sandwich, very good. I got the tomahawk steak tips. Probably one of the best steaks I've had in a while. Very, very, tender and buttery with a rich ribeye flavor.
