    Chocolate Cheesecake Shortbread
    Stephanie S.

Cute lil' place around the corner from Soulyve! (So if you're headin' there, check it out.) I stumbled upon it quite accidentally when I went down Mill St., a small one-way, past Soulyve, then had to park off Broadway. As soon as I stepped in, I was offered a sample of shortbread. That + the reasonable prices were enough to make a sale for me! :) I'm pretty easy when it comes to pastries. Triangle shaped desserts were $2.25-3ea, individual shortbread cookies $0.75ea, macaroons $2.25ea. (According to owner, everything with the exception of the macaroons are made on-site.) So all in all, not too expensive to try various things. I walked out with a Chocolate Cheesecake triangle thingey and 1 cookie. Chocolate Cheesecake was yummy, not too sweet, and worth my $2.25! I haven't tried the cookie yet, but how wrong can it be??

They also serve different types of Afternoon Tea. They also sell breads like Sour Dough ($12.00) and French Baguette ($4.50) for takeout. We ordered the following: 1. Nutella Croissant ($6.95). 2. Flat White (small $4.95). They charge the normal 13% HST, but there is an extra 3% resort fee! Both the croissant and coffee were good. The service was good. Some people make reservations for their favourite tables. They certainly make sure every is clean and chairs aligned. Four of us were sitting around a very small round table, so I put my camera case and bag on top of a neighbouring table (they were only 20% full). My wife told me they were staring at me. After I took it off and put them on the floor under my seat, they cleaned the table; must clean off any dirt I might have on my stuff! They have been open for 3 years. They allow photos using a phone but not a DSLR. They said they would charge $250 for me to take photos. One staff member recommended I speak to the owner. The owner was concerned that I take photos of his prices: this makes not sense since I can also do it with my phone! He finally allowed me to take photos of just the food, and he asked the staff to take it out for me onto a table! I was thankful! There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is free WiFi. The patisserie is wheelchair accessible. There is one gender-neutral washroom. There is free parking in the resort. There are two high chairs for little children. Review 2024-203

Full Tea for 2 ($65) includes: Tea, savory mini sandwiches, assorted sweets, whipped cream, assorted fruits. ** They didn't have mini sandwiches, but we got to choose a hot pressed sandwich from the bakery display, and they sliced it for us ^^ I'd also recommend: * Lychee Green Tea (teapot) * Roast Beef Mushroom Melt * Brie, Arugula, Prosciutto Be sure to make a reservation via phone for afternoon tea experience. Good for small groups of 2-3 people :) Limited indoor seating, outdoor patio also available. I personally think the afternoon tea experience is still very new, still need to work out some kinks. Overall, food was delicious, and my family had a lovely time together :)

I really can't say enough of how delicious the scones are at this shop inside St. Jacob's Market. I tried the savoury cheese and chive scone, blueberry, raspberry white chocolate, pumpkin, and cinnamon scone - all were so fresh and full of flavour. None of them were overly sweet, which I loved. Even better how they were $1 each since I came close to closing time on a Saturday afternoon. Yes, they're a bit on the smaller side but for $1 each, I really couldn't complain after tasting each one! I also tried the lavender and honey macaron, which was unbelievably delicious! I love trying unique macaron flavours at different macaron shops and this was definitely one of the best flavours I've ever had! The crisp macaron shell combined with the melt in your mouth strong lavender honey filling was heavenly! Support this cute bakery - they deserve so much more recognition for the quality of baked goods that they make! I'm looking forward to my next visit and can't wait to try their other scones and macaron flavours!

I'm sure they will be a huge success. These macarons are incredibly delicious. The shells are light as air, moist and delicate, with good feet. The fillings are so bright and flavourful. There were four flavours when I purchased my dozen today. Strawberry, lemon, vanilla, and pistachio. I purchased three of each type and I've so far tried the pistachio and strawberry. Both are exceptionally good. The strawberry has a dollop of strawberry jam in the centre of the buttercream which really punches up that fresh strawberry flavour. I have now tried the lemon and the vanilla. The lemon was divine. Sweetly tart with a bit of lemon curd in the middle of the buttercream. Yummers. I wasn't expecting to like the vanilla as much as I did. I mean, it's vanilla, right? How good could it be? The answer, my friend, is unbelievably good. This is pure vanilla at its florally best. Yeah, that's right, I said it. Florally. There are specks of vanilla bean throughout the cookie and that gourmand floral note really shines through. This vendor will do exceptionally well. I guarantee it. These macarons can go up against some of the best in Toronto and come out on top. I'm totally a fan now. I hope the pastry chef starts expanding his flavour selection, but I know I'm just being greedy. If he's talking suggestions, I would request salted caramel, rose, and lavender. I would love to taste his take on a salted caramel. Mmm.

You can't go wrong with any of their premium flavours. Each one of them is tuned to perfection, with an emphasis on Asian flavours. I always feel like a kid in a candy store here. Perhaps it's because of the colourful display from the moment you step inside, or the seemingly endless list of flavours on the wall staring back at you, or maybe it's because the moment you swing open the door, a friendly storeowner readily appears at your service? Hm... what will I have today? Pro tip: as the store owner would tell you, wait a few min for the ice cream sandwich to thaw before biting in. About 5 min is good and enough time to take Yelp pics. The only unfortunate thing for me is that they're downtown and I'm uptown! Regardless, I always make an effort to drop by whenever I can. Their opening hours are not too friendly though... But I guess you can say that adds to their appeal. This little shop could really use more publicity. I believe we have to get more people eating macaron ice cream sandwiches this summer. I highly recommend!!!

As soon as you enter, you will see all the cute and delicious looking desserts they offer like macarons, cookies, mini donuts, and macaron ice cream sandwiches. The three of us chose the $30 high tea menu for today. I ordered the Sloan heavenly cream tea which was definitely heavenly and creamy. My friends got the peaches and cream and jasmine pink lemonade tea's. Everyone enjoyed their chosen tea. When the savoury and sweet stand came out, we all had to take photos first since the camera eats first ;). All the food that we had were delicious! I think it's the best out of the other high tea places I've been to. We finished off by having the desserts which were disappointing compared to the food. The pink macaron I had was overly sweet and the shell was dense. I also didn't like the mini donut as it was overly sweet. My friends tried the truffles and it didn't seem like they really liked it. Overall, the experience, atmosphere, and food were great! Dessert was not that great. We didn't buy any desserts at the front of the shop so not sure if they would be good or overly sweet like the ones in the high tea menu.

My understanding is that the hardest part of making a macaron is the cookie shell, and these are wonderful. The texture and flavor is just right. The lavender did not make me think of soap initially. The violet absolutely did. That's not a strike against them. Those notes are just so popular in soap, it's an automatic association. The same is true of rose, but it's so often used in drinks and foods that it's not as jarring. The problem I had with these macarons is the filling, and it's probably such an easy fix. It's just too sweet and somehow when combined with the floral flavors, I could swear I had the actual mouth feel of soap by the time I'd eaten all three, like a faint burning on my tongue. I'd definitely recommend the rose lychee, and maybe doing a mix of flavors instead of all floral or having just one at a time. Macarons are 50 cents than the other patisserie I tried (Nadege) during my trip, but still competitively priced.
