I…read morefinally got to experience it for the first time for my birthday and it was such a wonderful and amazing time! With the pandemic happening, we weren't sure what to expect. I was in a group of 4 with the youngest person being 10 years old. We all had our masks on and we were greeted by the hostess. She and the other people working there also had masks on. We were given the option to take our masks off once we entered the room to start the game. Before we were shown to our room, they played a small video to teach players the basic rules and guidelines, such as no climbing on furniture and no cell phone use during the entirety of the game. Once that was over, the hostess explained a few more rules to help us understand parts of the game. For example, the function of the different locks. Another useful thing they told us was that we are only given 3 hints to ask, but throughout the game, there is a display that'll have directions to sort of help us get on the right track! The theme we played was called, "The Quest for the Throne" which was a 3.5/5 for difficulty rating. Now, we're not allowed to say anything specific about the puzzles so new players can experience them. But we enjoyed them a lot! Some of them were challenging, others we figured out immediately. There were two puzzles in particular that ate up a lot of our time, and we ultimately failed. Though if we had completed them, we only had two puzzles left before we could escape. Overall, the party and I really enjoyed our time there!! Definitely a place for people of all ages. The facility was nice and clean, and the people working there were super nice. I really hope this place stays for a long time! We already can't wait to try out the other themes!

Out of maybe the 5 or 6 different places I've been to for an escape the room (some out of state, some around the area), this was my favorite one. With only 3 reviews seen on Yelp, I was a little hesitant to choose this place over so many others in the area. Groupon gave us a good price, so we went with this, and I'm glad we did. We did the "my crazy ex" room, which was great, and I hope to be back for the high school reunion, which the owner said had some scary features added to it. He said he used to work with haunted houses too, so I'm pretty interested in seeing what that one is like. It is similar to other escape the rooms where you find clues and input it in the locks to unlock the various locks in the room, but this was was so techy that they used other creative tactics to unlock boxes, drawers, etc. To be honest, I at first thought it was a little lame because I thought the person watching us just opened things with a press of a button when we did different actions, but I asked later on, and he showed us how different things worked. Hard to describe without giving spoilers of the room, but I'd have to say I was seriously mind blown about how creative things were and how fancy the technology was here. I loved this factor added into it. They have a 10 minute game that's only $5 a person on certain hours of weekdays, so we will most likely be back for this too! I definitely was hesitant at first to come here due to a few things (barely any Yelp reviews, homemade looking winner/loser signs/a few things that made it not look as professional or techy (the Hotmail email address :D....sorry, break escape for throwing you under here), but after experiencing their room, I'd really have to say there is a mastermind here who made these and put these rooms together. Not sure how this place only got 3 reviews, but I'd highly recommend coming here and I'll be back for sure! Thanks break escape!

It's located across from Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, in the 999 plaza next door. There's plenty of parking which is always a plus. As soon as you walk up to the entrance you'll see a sign for Odyssey. We came 15 minutes before our reservation time. During this time they just want to review the safety guidelines with you before they taken you into the room for your game. We did the "Towering Inferno" and unfortunately did not make it out alive. The rooms are clean and the staff are all friendly. I don't have other places to compare to but in my opinion I can say this place is low key in technology. When we first entered the room, a staff member gives you the plot by reciting the story. I guess I wanted a more dramatic storyteller but it felt like a low key lecture I guess? 2 people can definitely solve it but it would've been better if we had at least 3 or 4 people. For this challenge, I would say about half of it is solved on computers. The other half are lock combinations. At the end we were told the last bits of info of how we could have finished and escaped. They will take a picture for you inside the room at the end and also offer a group picture with signs in front of their Odyssey sign in the main lobby. I felt like this was a pretty good experience. Again, the space is clean and I am interested in coming back to try their other escape rooms. Don't try to walk-in, make sure to make a reservation on their site! Google for a discount code before you reserve a room. I also saw people mention something on Groupon for deals.

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere immediately set the tone for a fun and immersive challenge. The lobby was clean, well-organized, and had a cool puzzle-themed vibe that got everyone in the right mindset before we even started the game. One of the highlights of the entire experience was our host, Jamie. She was incredibly welcoming and did a great job explaining the rules and the story behind the room without giving anything away. Sometimes escape room briefings can feel rushed or confusing, but Jamie made everything clear and engaging. She had a really friendly personality and made our group feel comfortable right away. It felt like she genuinely wanted us to have a great time, which made a big difference. The room itself was very well designed. The puzzles were creative and challenging without feeling impossible. I really appreciated that the clues flowed logically from one to the next, so when you solved something it felt rewarding rather than random. There was a good mix of different puzzle types too--some that required careful observation, others that needed teamwork, and a few that really made us stop and think. It kept everyone in our group involved instead of just one person solving everything. Another thing I liked was the level of immersion. The set design and props were high quality and made the whole experience feel like you were actually part of the story. Nothing felt cheap or out of place. You could tell a lot of thought went into creating the environment and making sure the puzzles fit naturally into the theme. Jamie also did a great job monitoring the game and giving hints when we needed them. The hints were helpful but not overly obvious, which is exactly what you want in an escape room. They helped keep the game moving without ruining the challenge. After the game ended, she took the time to talk with us about the puzzles we solved and the ones we struggled with, which was a really nice touch. Overall, Riddlebox delivered a fantastic experience. Between the creative puzzles, immersive room design, and Jamie's excellent hosting, it was a memorable and really fun activity for our group. Whether you're new to escape rooms or someone who has done a lot of them, I would definitely recommend giving Riddlebox a try. The staff clearly care about making sure guests have a great time, and that effort really shows. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying another room
