In the Springfield area, there are 3 local news TV stations. Channel 3 - Champaign/Urbana area news, Channel 17 - Decatur area news and Channel 20 - Springfield area news. The channel 20 news is nothing but repeats from the other 2 channels always talking about Champaign/Urbana. What happened to the Springfield area news? If you need to talk about something, do segments on health and well being or something beneficial. I do not need to know the news for a city 90 miles away. Also, the morning news crew is more interesting to listen to than the evening crew. I find I change this station because of lack of local news. read more

Springfield use to have news. Now it's mostly Champaign. 100 miles from Springfield. Very little Springfield news. Most mention of Springfield is not news. It's things like public event happenings. Example - Farmers market is not news. But since the station doesn't have reporters they don't have a clue how to find and report news. But the majority of their news broadcast is usually just repeating a national news feed. The station use to have reporters. Now it's all poorly educated college interns who sould like they're high school freshmen level. The station can't even hire someone competent to prepare there crawler and banners. It's become a sport watching for misspellings, poor grammar, and nonsensical writing. WICS news has surpassed bad and moved to the depths of pitiful. How sad that a once decent news station has fallen to such poor excuse for reporting. News? You won't get it from watching this station. read more

As a kid this station was the best. Boy have things changed. Sinclair Broadcasting hasn't cracked the code to viewer satisfaction. In fact, without Joe Crain on weather this station has me seeing red. Be assimilated or be cast to the side is what Sinclair is all about. As viewers we have choices and I humbly suggest Channel 17 is a better choice for weather. Channel 20 wins the "fake news" weather station if you are looking for that? read more

Here's a story. The state police had to help my teenager get all the tickets they paid for at the midway. Kids are paying 18 dollars for 12 tickets they gave them 8 and told them to get out of there line. S MH midway steals from local teenagers. read more

I will not watch WICS News Channel 20 unless they bring back Joe Crain. Joe did nothing wrong, he addressed the viewers complaints about using Code Red for weather and explained there was nothing he could do and understood our frustrations. Unless WICS brings Joe Crain back I will watch WAND Channel 17. This is why we need Unions. read more

I've watched the other local news broadcasts and their all pretty much the same with minor differences just crime and events and reporting some important national stories they do no more reporting from or about other cities than the other stations do. My major problem with wics is the high turnover of on air personnel the only one I can think of whose been there for quite awhile is Joe Crain a weatherman this station is owned by Sinclair broadcasting who apparently doesn't give a damn about how popular one of their on air personalities is as long as they don't have to pay them they'll show them the door and they bring in someone on the cheap and at times it shows you can tell their inexperienced but they have brought in a good set of anchors and a very experienced weatherwoman recently so maybe their trying to change the cheap image they've showed us local's the last few years I hope so. read more

Can't believe what they did to Joe Crain. He just said what viewers have been thinking. One day my husband and I were watching a 7 day forecast where they had "code red" for 5 out of 7 days. So alarmist and how can they possibly know that so far out in the future.? Makes it so no one pays attention when there really is danger. I sure hope they bring Joe back. Wow! I thought I'd give this channel another chance after the mess early this year. Besides the fact that they Report falsely. The talent on this channel seriously lack professionalism. It is very difficult to hear the story when all you can focus on is how unprofessional the anchos present themselves. Makes me cringe. Sad our community can no longer rely on Channel 20 news! I would like to write a complaint about Dee Dee Gatton's wardrobe. She wears her clothes way too tight to be on TV. You can see every wrinkle and part of her body which I think is indecent. You should have a dress code of some kind. She poses which is worse and I hate to watch if she is on. read more
