Absolutely 5+ stars!!! Our job was very simple, fix drawer sliders in our silverware drawer. The challenge was that it's a face frame drawer so more tricky than I could handle myself. I watched 2 hours of YouTube and bought 3 different drawer slides before I found the right hardware but didn't feel comfortable doing it myself. I couldn't find anyone for 6 weeks to take this job. Finally, found Widger - and they are so busy, I needed to book out 3 weeks from my call. Russell was very communicative and told me they'd be at the house on that date at 8:30am. They arrived 10 minutes EARLY (when does that ever happen???) Russell came in and complemented me I bought the right sliders, did some measurements, and next thing you know - perfectly installed. I hired Russ Widger and his associate -Jack, Widger Handyman Services, to make repairs on my twenty year old pergolas - 3 sections, where I had many (~12) decayed 2"x2" pieces (used to hold down plastic lattice sections for shading). He bid $2240 to do this job, which I described in an email to him, as: "removal of 12 old decayed 2x2 slats, installation of new slats, primed & painted, installation of new aluminum flashing tape over all exposed upward-facing wood surfaces, clean-up and removal of all debris." I asked him about how long it would take them to complete the work, and Russ estimated 1.5 days. I offered to pay him $2000 cash and he accepted. I paid for all materials {wood, flashing, screws, and unwittingly mis-paid for some minor tools-inexpensive drill bits and blades}. They worked on my property 2 partial days, Jun 29 & Jul 1, 2022 totaling only 7 hours. Unfortunately, apparently I was not clear enough in my expectations, and I did not receive any acknowledgement of my expectations. After I inspected the main/large pergolas, I paid them in cash as promised. However, when I inspected the third/smaller pergolas, I discovered no flashing was laid down protecting some exposed upward-facing wood surfaces. I sent him a text and photo with my request for their return and completion of this project (which I estimated would take them another 1-2 hours), but he declined to speak with me and refused to do any more work on my project without additional payment. I am highly disappointed in his negative response and non-interest in continuing any business relationship with me. They were paid $2000, handsomely for only 7 hours of labor, since I was basing my compensation on their spending about 12 hours of work. They were also carefree about spending the customer's money at Home Depot, including small tools for themselves and buying much more wood than needed, which could not be returned since they were primed & painted. I had hoped to hire them in the future, but they have not demonstrated any attempt at conflict resolution. It is my fault for placing trust in two guys who are unworthy. As mentioned by other dissatisfied customers, they also did not appear at my home on the first appointment saying my job was not placed on their calendar. I do not recommend hiring them. 7/7/22. Not only were they responsive, but they made suggestions for future repairs that would save me time & money, but make my life safer. They were fast & efficient & cleaned up after themselves. I recently purchased a new home on Mines rd. Unfortunately after our first heavy rain storm last fall the roof leaked. We called Larry the owner and he was out with in a day to assess our problem. We ended up hiring him to fix the leak and replace Sheetrock in our dining room. Larry and crew always showed when they were scheduled and got work done very quickly. We would give more stars if we could. Price was incredible and work was excellent. We have since used Widgers Handyman Service for various smaller issues and have not been let down. I wish I hadn't waited so long to call these guys. In an hour and a half, they had fixed several things around the house that we've needed done for months, including installing a ceiling fan. Recently, I asked Widger Handyman Service to perform a small task on my house (installed a metal screen to prevent small animals from entering the attic). Despite his busy schedule, Larry was very nice and agreed to take on the job (two other firms refused to do it due to size of the job) with a minimal cost. His crew (2 men) came by the house on time as promised and completed the job in less than an hour!! I had what turned out to be a very minor electrical problem. They called me back the same day. Set up an appointment for the next morning. Showed up a little early,(When is thee last time you had that happen with a contractor?) and were neat, professional, and really knew how to do it. The project took so little time, they checked a few other electrical issues I had, and then gave me advice on how to avoid my problem. Then, when I asked about another more complex foundation issue, they said it would be better and probably less expensive to get a foundation expert. That is as honest as it gets. Russell called me about a half hour later saying he had an opening and was at my door 30 minutes later. They had the disposal done in 20 minutes and was reasonably priced.
