UPDATE: After hearing about the issue, someone from the practice called and honored the coupon,…read morescheduled an appointment for her to checkup on the crown and put us on a payment plan. It's clear there are good people there, sometimes people just get off on the wrong foot. This is a business that does listen if something goes wrong and they do keep up on their work. I changed my rating but will leave the description of the issue but they fixed it! The FIXED IT! Just making that clear. ** What we needed at the time was an emergency root canal. We had just moved to the area and didn't have a family dentist yet. I called them and scheduled an appointment since I was impressed by their website. It says they have a 4.6 Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey score, although we never received a survey form after we had work completed. If we get one you will see this review on their website. The office was clean, but the WiFi was broken and they didn't know why. The guy at the front was named Charles I think. He seems like someone who is a pretty busy guy. The office environment was very disorganized with people and dental assistants coming and going. When it came time for the appointment we all talked about the costs and she went back into the back. After maybe 20 minutes the guy from the front asked me to come back. They had one of those high-pressure sign-on-the-dotted line kind of clipboards. She was in the chair and already ready to begin the operation or at least within moments. But we were being asked to sign an updated and much higher priced root canal and crown package. I recognized this as a predatory behavior at the time but what could we do? She was in the chair and needed the operation! And we needed a crown anyway and we were wanting to commit to and find a new family dentist That's the normal way. So we signed. And immediately paid the total for the root canal (the thing we came for in the first place.) When we got a bill for the crown a few days later we were surprised. The crown hadn't been done yet, although we intended to get it from them. It was surprising that they billed us immediately for work that had not been completed yet. We did make it clear that we would not be able to schedule the crown immediately due to financial limitations. Moving is very expensive and our budget had already been exceeded. Letting them know this prevents them from having to put out money to order the crown until we can pay for it. A call to schedule the crown operation lets the dentist know to order it from the supplier. This was what I was thinking anyway. When we got the bill it was a surprise because it was for work they hadn't done yet. I think they are looking at this as a business strategy. It was a classic up-sell, but done in a situation of complete moral bankruptcy. They effectively refused to do the work unless we bought their additional package. Ok, not very friendly but as long as they do good work. I was thinking. It was three months and we still didn't have the extra $700 for the crown. We received a call from them that we could come in a get a $100-off crown special for our next appointment. Well, that was a lovely thing to get from your dentist in this situation. So we decided to try and pay for the crown as soon as possible. So we called to schedule it and had the work done. There was an issue with the bite that they're still going to take care of as of this writing. But they refused to give us $100 off! On trying to pay the guy at the front desk said it was for a different tooth! So they called us and offered us $100 off of a crown and then when we scheduled the call they refused to apply the $100 off because we had chosen them to do the root canal. That's right! Because we committed to them as our family dentist they refused to give us $100 off. I'm really surprised and disappointed with them. They don't seem like bad people. I'm not sure why they are treating their customers like this. It is not caring, their name is false advertising.

I have not seen a dentist in several years, mainly due to financial constraints, but I have…read morerecently saved enough money for what I thought would be a routine checkup. During my first and only appearance at Independence Family Dental, I was told I had a litany of problems with my teeth that would require frequent cleanings and a whole treatment plan. Additionally, Independence Family Dental has you sign up for a loan so that all of your dental plans are paid for. I had them send my treatment plan to another dentist's office only to find that I'm being overcharged on items like fluoride and that my dental issues are exaggerated. This feels completely unprofessional and antagonistic in the role of healthcare. When shopping around for other dentist offices (that don't push me into signing up for a loan), I found a dentist office that has offered a similar treatment plan, and the treatment plan I'm under now is thousands of dollars less. Since then, I have requested a refund for my loan, which I am still waiting on. I have been calling both the loan company (Healthcare Finance Direct) and Independence Family Dental about my refund, seemingly to no avail, several times a month. If I don't get my refund back, I will be calling the American Dental Association and the Dental Board. The only good thing I have to say about Independence Family Dental is that their staff are friendly and professional (just not their business practices)

When getting a second opinion it is completely different info than they give you. I was told that they would not clean my teeth unless I got 5 fillings done so I left and went to another dentist where they told me I have 0. They told my husband that he had cavities that fell out or cracked (can't remember) so they fixed them and sent him on his way. When he went in for a second opinion he was referred to an Endodontic provider to address possible retreatment of a root canal that was done when he was a kid. It's strange that they have such different treatment than other dentists. And after speaking with a couple of dentists in the area they have told me that this is well known among these types of chain clinics. They are eager to bill for cavities! It's the most impersonal experience you could have. You come and are greeted by an employee who greets you from a screen. When Dr. Lee is free from pushing fillings on patients, he likes to spend his spare time arguing with patients who give him one star reviews on other review platforms. Attached are my xrays. Please let me know if you can see clear cavities on teeth #13, #14, #28, #29, and #30
