From my perspective, the approach seemed more focused on undermining a loving parent than supporting fairness or the best interests of the child. My grandson had a deep bond with his father and extended family, and the outcome has been emotionally difficult for him after being uprooted from the only home and community he knew. Her website states that is also a guardian ad litem, and based on what I observed, that is very concerning to me.

Mr. Pilgreen is an egotistical tyrant who takes advantage of his clients by charging astronomical retainers for doing bare minimal work and then discusses their cases in detail on online forums without their consent. After escaping a domestic violence situation with nothing but a car and a 3 month old baby I filed for sole custody with the "help" of Mr. Pilgreen, who took a custody agreement draft that I wrote, slapped his letter head on it, added some verbiage and mailed it to the father, who signed it without any revisions. He never stepped foot in a court house. He never went to a hearing. He never made a phone call. We had ONE 25 minute long meeting in which he was arrogant and abrasive. And then he charged me $2500, saying "his name on the letterhead is what convinced the father to sign". You wish your name carried that much weight, sir. Hire anyone else in the Valley. Anyone.

Going based on word of mouth, this was the guy to help our unorthodox custody case. It should have been a sign when our initial meeting had never been scheduled and we only found this out the day of, after we traveled over an hour to get there. So we had to schedule a month out, again, time of the essence! The initial consultation seemed promising, however the price of representation being $3,500 was eye opening. We were under the assumption this was a retainer and the hours would be billed off this payment. We were wrong. Not only did we only have all of 45 minutes face to face with Mr Pilgreen before our hearing, he was almost an hour late to our meeting and walked us out early! 3 days we had before our court hearing, THE WEEKEND! We gave him everything possible to make our case and he ended up getting in an argument with the judge. We lost everything due to this representation. The final blow was when we called about our "retainer" to be told that was a flat fee for the first and only court hearing. If we wanted anymore time with him, it would "be an extra fee". Save yourself if you're looking for reliable and cordial representation in Roanoke VA!!

If you want and/or need a lawyer that is calculated and thorough, an expert that will review your case once and have a plan for your win, then look no further than Vicki at Weiss Law Firm. I hired 4 attorneys over a 2.5 yr period, went to numerous, COUNTLESS court hearings, that of which I always left feeling defeated with no end in sight, then I hired Vicki at the end of January 2020. This was at the very end of my case in J & D, yet right before Covid-19 closed courts. My hearing was moved from March 2020 to June 2020. We were set to appear in front of the same judge that had followed my case for 2.5 years. When I met with Vicki in January she said in my first consultation that her goal would be a "one and done" situation. Hoping that the court date we currently had set, would be our last and this time would end in victory. Well that is EXACTLY what happened. On June 26 she had the spotlight for 2 solid hours. Let me just start off by saying Vicki and barb are AMAZING, I was going thru an extremely difficult custody battle with my ex I looked on Google to find a lawyer and I came across "Wiese law firm" I had never seen a lawyer that had 5 stars no matter what website you looked on. So I contacted her firm, after the first phone call with barb I felt so relieved!! I explained to her my situation, she really listened to me and set up a zoom consult with Vicki. Once speaking to Vicki I felt even better! I hired her as my attorney and I must say I would leave court prior to hiring her feeling defeated every time. Vicki is a perfectionist to say the least, she gets the job done and she keeps you in the loop every step of the way. With her by my side in court I felt like anything could be thrown at me and she was like my heavy duty armor that had me protected at every angle! Vicki and Barb were amazing throughout my divorce. Vicki will not waste your time/money with pointless meetings or calls, but she will show up for court prepared and organized. She made my spouse's attorney look incompetent and unprepared when she walked in with a binder for testimony with color-coded tabs for each section that we covered. Vicki was able to find a case law that got my foot in the door in a court system that otherwise would have refused to hear my case and continued to let my financially dominant ex continue to exert power and control through financial manipulation. After 5 lawyers, 4 guardian ad items and $6,000+ later...NOTHING ever got ruled in my favor. I'm a single mother with limited financial resources. I needed a 'NO NON SENSE" type of lawyer who would not only listen to me but take me and my dollar seriously! Patrick is also organized, knowledgeable of the law and has experience! He did not waste anytime on my case! He filed subpoenas and other court documents ON TIME! He kept it real with me at all times regarding the details of my case. Regardless of how ugly it was, he was HONEST! He worked with me when it came time to pay him. He didn't try to 'price gouge' me or make it about money.
