A grey hair transition topper was what I was looking for. I have thick hair but i didn't want the ugly demarcation line that you get when transitioning black hair to white/grey hair. I thought I would try a topper. Kelly, the owner was so nice and helpful. She knew I had a lot of hair and that the topper would make my hair look too big up top so she suggested I not get it because I wouldn't feel comfortable in it. She was so right. What an ethical business owner for not trying to sell me something that wasn't needed. She gave me advice on how to handle transition better suited for me. read more

To the man who just left such a negative review.... You have no idea what you are talking about. I have been going to see Kelli, the owner, for years as I have had Alopecia Areata for 25 years. She has helped style many wigs for me over the years and made me feel normal with my severe hair loss. She has helped countless Cancer patients as well over the years with a nice wig to help them through their chemo treatment and hair loss. Kelli used to have a larger store in St Petersburg with several employees until Covid happened. She had to downsize for economic reasons and lay off her employees. She is a one lady show now and does a wonderful job of working with her customers. She was obviously very busy with a customer when you came in at the end of the day and could not give you the attention you thought you deserved. Kelli is the kindest person you will ever meet and I find your review ugly and mean-spirited. Your words will not hurt her business because those who know her know the truth that she is a very professional lady. You are the one who needs a lesson in patience and kindness. read more

Due to chemo given to me for a stem cell transplant, I lost all my hair. I made an appt. on line at Wig Villa on MLK St. in St. Petersburg, Fl. Kellie Kim , the owner was great! I showed her a couple of pictures as to how I usually wear my hair and she was very helpful in picking out a wig that was just right for me. I wanted a bit more auburn brown so she ordered it for me and it came in, in a timely manner. Then she helped cut it in to suit my face shape. I have alopecia & needed a hair piece. Buying one is not a comfortable activity. But, Kellie was welcoming, helpful and found the right piece the first try. The sales lady gave me ideas of how to wear the piece, which is called a, hair topper". My husband came with me for support. And even he made a comment while we were leaving with my new hair topper. I'm amazed at the positive reviews of this shop, considering my GF's experience in late January '20. We were there as "serious browsers," on our first visit. She hoped to try on some wigs and may have made a purchase, then. We entered around 3:45pm. The lone saleswoman was attending to a customer and that's fine with us. We browsed, finding several promising items. I had a coffee with me and, as the lady passed by, I asked if that was OK. She said yes, but otherwise totally ignored us. No, "I'll be with you folks if you can wait" or (if necessary), a polite, "I'm sorry, but you need to make an appointment." (The website mentions nothing about appointments.) We were well-dressed and, had the lady been overhearing us, we demonstrated a strong interest in purchasing. We didn't feel it was our job to interrupt her session with her apparent customer, to ask whether we'd eventually be waited on. Granted, this saleswoman was the only one on duty. Still, a simple greeting and then maybe an idea of whether we'd have some service later would have gone a long way with us. We'd thus not have our time wasted, nor hers. But, after 20-25 minutes of being completely ignored, we gave up and left.....never to return. This person needs a major talking to, about common courtesy & professional salesmanship. Wig villa is one of the best wig shops I've ever been in. They have a great selection of absolutely beautiful hair. Kellie is the utmost professional, and will make you feel like a superstar. My recommendations when shopping there? Where some makeup. It makes a big difference when you are looking at different hairstyles. You will really get the full impact of what you are trying on. Second, they are not there so you can decide how to get your hair cut...They are there to provide a service of selling wigs. Keep that in mind when you ask to try on 20 wigs and don't plan on buying any thing. I've seen people do that a few times while shopping there and it's really just rude. Trust the sales girls. The first time I was in here, I had a great experience. A woman helped me try on wigs and even suggested more and gave me her opinions on them. I did not buy one because I was running short on time. The second time I went in here I did not have such a pleasant experience. The woman was rude and practically refused to help me, wouldn't try any on me and told me I should just straighten my hair. I was 100% set on buying a wig today and now am completely disheartened by this experience. read more

It is with hesitation I give three stars as this was far from a positive experience. I was asked by a very dear friend to go with her to look at wigs as she is going through chemo and her hair is thinning. She was already uneasy at the thought of losing her hair and unsure about the process of trying on wigs. Upon entering the store a thousand heads with a thousand different hairstyles in every color greeted us with plastic smiles. Theirs was the only greeting. As we stood in the back of the shop looking at shorter styles a woman approached and just stood there watching us. My friend asked her if she needed something, she answered no, to which my friend responded, do you work here. Yes, she apparently did and asked if we wanted to see any particular wig. I explained why we were there, and while she proceeded to help us she was curt and acted like we were completely annoying her by being there. My friend was so disheartened and turned off by the experience that we left and she opted out of trying any other wig location. This experience truly saddens me, is this how you treat all your customers? The 3 stars is earned because the quality of the product is excellent. Maybe you'll be lucky and get a different sales person. read more

I have agree with everything said in the prior review. I too thought Kellie was just wonderful as I'm new to alopecia & knew a month into it that I needed to get some wigs. I let Kellie pick out what she thought would look good & she was very patient as I probably tried on the same wig 3 times to finally decide! They have a very large selection of wigs, and my sales lady spent a lot of time helping me find one that was just right! I felt like I was treated as a valuable customer. I took my Mom there to get a wig. She is currently going thru chemo and has lost most of her hair. Holly was fabulous!! She helped my Mom thru the entire process. Shaved her head and found her a wig that worked for her. Although it was an emotional experience, Holly was warm and caring and made the process much easier. I went to Wig Villa on July 28,2015 around lunch time..I was thinking that I was going to be a great experience because of them being in business and on Central Avenue forever. Let me tell you it was not....... The store is just old inside and out...even the wigs are outdated...if you are a woman of color do not go there. The staff three of them did not really greet me as I came in they were more busy preparing lunch for themselves on a old table in back of store. I guess so they can see customers coming in and to half hearted to greet them. I went here thinking that they would be better than other wig stores that just do not specialized in just wigs and not other things. Just to let you know if you are thinking about going here please don't. This will also save you from paying for the parking meter. I did not mind paying for the parking however I did when I got a bad taste in my mouth after going into the store. I was there for less than 5 mins...It was that bad. read more

TERRIBLE staff!!!I was looking forward to my visit to Wig Villa after reading all the positive reviews, but once I arrived I was thoroughly disppointed. Before I elaborate on my experience, I want to first tell you my story. I am a 26 year old white female with long dreadlocks. I've had my dreads for 3 years now but recently decided I no longer want them. I went to Wig Villa in search of a wig because I am self conscious about having very short hair. When I first walked in I wasn't greeted by the woman at the front counter. She was busy playing on her phone. She only acknowledged me after I said hello. I walked around the store for 5 minutes but no one asked if I needed help or had questions. When I asked the woman for help (Because I know absolutely nothing about wigs) she directed me towards the back wall where the cheaper wigs were. I felt she was judging me by my looks (also have visible tattoos) and figured I could only afford those wigs. When I asked about wig maintenance she gave a brief response all while looking off to the side! She didn't even look at me while talking! It would have been nice to try on wigs to get an idea but I did not feel welcome! POOR POOR customer service!!! I would 100% recommend Abby's Wigs in Largo over Wig Villa.
