Less than two days after my dog's spay.
    Laura N.

I took my dog here to get spayed after I saw positive reviews on their FB page and a few good reviews from friends. Two doctors perform the surgeries, Dr. Connie and Dr. Brown. Dr. Brown did my dog's surgery that day. I regret it very much. My dog was treated like a cow, hanged and had her back legs grabbed so she fell in the process while being tranquillized. They were very rough about it and made no introduction to me or my dog before the process, which made her fear way worse. The vet had the nerve to say she needed "obedience training" when it was all fear based behavior in response to a very awful process they have. I believe it's this way because they have gotten so routine to get as many surgeries done as possible that they have forgotten that they are living, breathing creatures that deserve respect. The aftermath has been the worst part. Not even a few days after surgery, (cone on and minimal activity level), the incision started to drip blood. Then, it started to form blood clots. Fast forward to less than five days later and my dog has a hole larger than the size of a pencil eraser where the sutures did not hold and it is infected. To make it even worse, they have gone back to the Stone Age and use metal sutures that irritate an animal greatly and hinder healing. Their excuse to use these was it keeps the suture intact since dogs were coming back with the area chewed. After further research and speaking with my vet, this is not true. A good job done by the vet eliminates irritation and the dog or cat will not be in that level of discomfort like this causes. The metal simply irritates the area more. After seeing another spay job done by Dr. Connie, the dog's skin could be pulled apart and the incision was jagged and long MONTHS after the surgery was done. The staff employee admitted that Dr Connie's surgery results "always look that bad" and seemed concerned but not enough to change anything. My vet was also worried about the fact that this spay incision had not healed up after that much time had passed. My regular vet was appalled at the job done and suggested I report them to the Texas Veterinary Medical Boards. I will be doing so. My pictures tell the story better than words can. Please do not make the same mistake I did. I am still beating myself up for it. I think many people have great intentions and I don't think they are bad people, but there are 100 times better places to take your dog or cat to get fixed. They have a lot to work on to get with the times in terms of medical care and behavior knowledge of dogs. You get what you pay for here, unfortunately.

My dog and cat were both Rescued and spayed through the Wilbarger Humane Society and are now 9 and 11 years old. I'm very happy with the service that the shelter provides and greatful our community has a low cost spay/neuter program.

I should've read the reviews for grooming before going . Do NOT get your dog groomed here. I booked…read moreonline and got a bath and grooming appointment . They asked if I wanted my dogs teeth brushed and dremeled and I said no. It took them 5 hours to do my dog , and when I got there to pick her up my bill had an " essentials " charge - which is teeth brushing and dremel. I told them I did not ask for that and he removed the charge. THEN handed me a bill with a charge for " 15 extra minutes of brushing " and a " scissors charge ". I asked for my dog to be SHAVED - what were you brushing ? The air ? He claimed my dog was matted on her stomach - which she absolutely was not. She barely has any hair on her stomach to begin with. Then I asked what the scissors charge was for- he told me that is separate from a shave - and mansplained to me that clipping them with shavers and using scissors are two different things. I asked and PAID for my dog to be groomed- so why would a scissors fee be an extra charge ?? Why would you not just add that into the price of a GROOMING ? He gave major attitude and was an awful person to be talking to. Bob is the manager of the store and took care of Everything- he was lovely and very understanding and kind . I will never have my dog groomed there again Oh also- they didn't do her ears , so I will need to do that myself

Do not EVER bring your dog here for grooming if they have long hair…read more They absolutely butchered my dog, Nugget. He's a golden retriever and the groomer told me that they'd give me they length that they usually cut golden's to. Well, they shaved him bald. His hair is choppy and his head hair is still long and not blended at all. His knees for whatever reason still have long hair. Also, there's a chunk of hair missing from his leg! I wish I could leave a photo in this review to show you how absolutely horrible his haircut was.

They will receive…read moreplenty of attention based on their location and the fact that they are helping to bring Lawton's shopping possibilities into the present day. PetSmart is a one stop shop for all of your pet's needs. Heck, you can even pick your pet there, as they partner with local shelters to bring adoptable animals into the store to meet the public. On the opposite end of the store they feature a grooming station, and they encourage humans to bring their animal companions (Ok, dogs really. Please don't bring your fish!) in to look at the toys and treats available. Here's the problem with PetSmart- the pricing. There are already quite a few pet stores in the Lawton area, locally owned. I've been in a few of them, and been happy with the selection and the price. PetSmart does have a larger collection of goods, but at a higher cost. They do have a loyalty card available, but even so the prices for some of the toys were much higher than I have found in other stores. I know that there is no hope of their prices being lowered. This is a national chain, and the prices are set somewhere else. I also know that they will enjoy a steady stream of people, as they are new and convenient, and they really do have a huge selection of merchandise. My suggestion is that people pay attention to the pricing here, and that you compare that price to the pet store you have used in the past. I'm all for spoiling our pets (Ask me how many cushions my cats have, I dare you!) but not at these prices.

The cats I saw all looked sickly and dazed and were kept in wire cages. There were 20 birds to a small cage that's more fit for a singular bird. I saw a snake in there in a 10 gallon tank when the minimum requirement for a snake that size is 30-40 gallons. It's like keeping a grown dog in a kennel their entire life. Not to mention I saw several old sheds still in the tank, which should always be removed. The owners of this store are gross, unhygienic and have wildly improper animal care. Do better.
