But when we went to court she didn't put up the fight I thought she was just from our conversations in her office. She ended up having surgery on her back or leg I can't remember but in her she told me to just take what they are offering for child support she didn't want to argue my case that it was to much. Basically she just wanted to get out of court and go home because she was in pain from her surgery. I don't know how she got the reviews she got that made me choose her as my lawyer, but my experience with her was not what I was expecting and I would never refer her to anyone that wants to win there case or atleast expect there lawyer to put up a fight for them and at the end of the day I'm out $8,000 for nothing! Answer a few standard questions, chat about your impending death, and whammo! You've got yourself a legally binding will, power of attorney, health care advance directive, etc. Betsy also told us everything about death we wouldn't have even known to ask. Plus, she and her husband even come to *your* house for a signing party so you get the documents right away. It wasn't cheap, but check to see if your company has a legal plan (ours paid for almost everything!). But it was thorough, painless, and quick. Just like I hope that impending death of mine will be. Rajiv took advantage of our father during a time when he was under significant distress and highly vulnerable. His conduct was manipulative and, in our view, demonstrates serious ethical concerns regarding his treatment of elderly clients. During what was supposed to be a consultation, Rajiv persuaded our father to write a check for $20,000 without providing a receipt or clear explanation of services. He also had our father sign a fee agreement -- which we did not receive a copy of until nearly a month later, and only after we terminated his services. When we finally obtained the documents, they were filled with errors and appeared unprofessional. We believe Rajiv's actions constitute elder exploitation -- both emotional and financial -- and we hope that others who have had similar experiences will come forward. Accountability is essential so that no other family has to endure this kind of harm.
