My final project using a cutting board. I'll hang this in my house.
Monica P.

Six of my friends and I participated in a resin making class (30 Jan 2022). It was our first time taking this sort of class. We would be doing resin art on a wood cutting board and four ceramic coasters. We arrived about five minutes before our 1pm start time, which was a two- hour class. Carla was our art instructor who told us to hang back for a few minutes while she finished setting up the class room. Inside there are lots of items to purchase, as well as the materials to create your resin art, resin pour, seaglass art, painting classes, etc., even classes for kids. Carla started the class with information on the three various types of resin. There was a short interruption, as a past customer came in to pick up their work; and two young women showed up 10 minutes late. The resin discussion was 'information overload,' and a few of us felt it cut into our two-hour time slot. It might be better to save the time and just give a brief 2-3-minute talk along with passing out a document with everything she said about the various resins. One of my friends "M" was on her second trivet, while the rest of the class was almost done with their cutting board. Since I drove a few of my friends, I wasn't able to hang out with M while she worked on her board. One downside to this class was that Carla couldn't get the coasters for our class. Instead, we had two trivets for our project. Good size: 6"x6". This included a small wooden easel stand. It's sort of flimsy and falls backwards easily, as there's no 'stopper.' Back home, I super-glued it but will go out and buy a better one (two actually). For the cutting boards, we had three choices. I selected the one shaped in the map of North Carolina. Carla did a demonstration and then we dove into our projects. I felt a little pressure with all the color choices. We worked with wet and powdered resin. We measured our resin on a one-to-one ratio, add our colors to small Dixie cups, and then poured the colors onto the first trivet. These were really our trial runs before hitting the cutting boards. We used a small hand torch to push and move the resin around. It was fun. The whole process is very messy. We wore gloves and aprons. We had to pick up our art work a couple of days later, as the resin has to harden and takes at least 24 hours. One of my friends drove back to pick everyone's art. When I got mine, I noticed the two trivets were not the ones I made. After some email correspondence and figuring things out, I figured out one of my friends had my trivets and I had hers. I absolutely love how mine turned out and I want to sign up again for the same class...as long as I can do the four ceramic coasters that we missed doing. Total cost for the class was $64. Overall, it was such a fun time and learning experience. Highly recommended.

Have been dealing with New Elements for years and thinking they were a super gallery. HOWEVER,…read more that day changed today. I connected Miriam, the owner on July 21 about purchasing a serigraph. I was informed that the piece was damaged and needed to be appraised. No problem for me or my husband who agreed to purchase the piece with in the range quoted when the appraisal was completed. We would wait until Miriam had finished the appraisal. Each week I inquired about the piece. Today I learned the gallery has offered it to another buyer without the appraisal being done. Now we are being asked to bid on the piece at a price much higher they we were told. To add insult to injury we have bought TWO other works by the same artist from this gallery. BUYERS, beware! Duplicity thrives at New Elements.

I have always had a great experience each time I visit, especially during monthly gallery crawls! They seem to understand just what I am looking for and they go out of their way to provide a satisfactory experience. Each customer is treated as an individual and made to feel like family. I greatly appreciate their gracious and generous warm customer care. I have no hesitation recommending them. Definitely the gem of downtown Wilmington's art community! Alexander Hammond, Esq.
