I slap on EQ and multi-band compression plug-ins and then hear what it sounds like on radio and TV - for better or worse. But I just did an album of my own stuff and had no idea how to prepare it for streaming, downloading, CD, vinyl. My fantastic mix engineer strongly recommended Piper because "she's been doing it forever and knows how to do it right". She does. She's worked with the best, globally. It's impressive. I talked to her and explained what kind of albums I wanted mine to sound like and she asked all the right questions. She's definitely more pricey than the online AI mastering options, but I really wanted this done right. So I rolled the dice, and won! She works quickly and precisely and every mix she gets her hands/ears on sounds better after she's done. Piper seems to me to be genuinely interested in making sure that the artist/client is 100% (not 99.9) satisfied down to the last detail. She strikes a great balance between allowing her own considerable expertise and decision making to positively impact each track, while also being open to suggestions and tinkering if the artist/client wishes. Piper's ability to find the aesthetic flow of a project and impose her immense technical mastery on to it made a big impression on me. I felt like each of my tracks retained their feel and character and texture, but were just cleaner, clearer, better versions of themselves. Piper's mastering work is like being at the optometrist choosing between "A or B", "A" is good, but you can see every detail of that bottom row of letters with "B". Also, I have to say that just even hearing my music through her incredible reference system was well worth the price of admission. Her setup is incredible--the best sound I've ever heard by far. On top of all this, Piper is just a rad human being and was super fun to work with. I cannot more enthusiastically recommend A) investing the $ to get your tracks mastered in the first place; and B) hiring Piper and the rest of the crew at Neato Mastering to do the work. It is, without question, money well spent.

It's owned and run by Jeremy Ferguson and Tony Read, and it's home to some really impressive equipment. Ferguson has been working as a producer and engineer for several years now, and he has his mixing down to a science. He and his people are willing to work with bands who have had very little exposure, and his albums always turn out well. I was here yesterday for a live taping of the Pickler & Ben show. I've never experienced being on…read moreset of a show, but was delighted by the experience I had yesterday. At first we were kind of thrown off by the location of the set. Gentleman at the gate was very nice and personable. Once we walked up to check in we were greeted by some more staff. We ended up cutting up with them. How nice and inviting. They had an area for us to take pictures before going on set. The space was clean and spacious. Obviously the actual set was amazingggggggg The bathrooms were very well kept and clean. Our first impression wasn't great, but after being inside we were pleasantly surprised.

They have it set up so one lady gives you a release form, then you can go the restroom. Then you go into a holding area where you can take photos with the pickler and Ben sign and just hang out. Then this lovely women comes out and explains the roles and everything. They take you innthe studio which is beautiful btw. The crew places you in a seat as they see fit. I got in the front row...sooo I can't complain! They got the audience energized and it was such a fun experience. My face hurt from laughing. Kelly Pickler and Ben were sooo nice! They interacted with the audience a lot! I was like freaking out cause they sat in the front row by us ha. But the crew running that place is amazing, just getting to see how this show is ran like a well oiled machine is crazy. Sure they don't offer you water...we got some food that was demonstrated. During the piano move, the two movers seemed to struggle a bit moving the instrument (just an upright spinet) 30 minutes down the road but didn't end up damaging anything--home or piano. You do need to be upfront about your move logistics so that Fretter's can staff and charge appropriately: length of sidewalk, number of stairs, etc. Rick is no-frills. Like other reviewers have noted, his communication style is direct. He has a bag of tools ready for anything in his early 2000s minivan. His tuning fork and his ear don't lie. He has years of experience leading to successful repairs and tunings no matter your piano brand. Rick's provided realistic advice to me on frequency of tuning and if maintenance is worth the cost, based on my specific instrument that I acquired from Facebook marketplace.
