I picked out a book about stories to tell around a campfire from national parks. The sticker on the front said $14. I picked it up and continued shopping and then when I got to the counter she tried to charge me $28. Which is what the book is marked on the back. So good for her but bad for me. Miss marked prices on merchandise gives me a very bad feeling when I walk into a store. read more

The Wild Grape is an insane catchall store that has something for everyone. The store layout is beautiful and has all kinds of items tucked into every nook and cranny. You could get lost for quite some time in this place and also spend a ton of money while you are at it. Not that the items are overly expensive, it's just that there are so many cool things to see and buy. I loved taking my time and exploring the store, just enjoying the sights! This place was so fun! Loads of cute little knick knacks and gifts. The things were sort of categorized around the store, based on drinks, camping, things like that. I wish I could show you but they have signs kindly asking that you don't take pictures. And so many candles to smell! I definitely recommend this place for some fun browsing! read more

The Wild Grape is one of those catch-all shops where it's really easy to lose your mind if you happen to be in a gift-giving mood. And I was there on a packed Saturday afternoon, which sort of heightened the shopping urgency. You know, the omgwhatifsomeonegrabsthatgiftbeforeIgetit? feeling. This shop is filled with all the knicknack-y goodness you could want: jewelry, cards, candles, offbeat holiday deco, magnets, boutique items for your favorite furry friend, unique kitchen items, wine glasses....you get the picture. Strangely, the thing I loved most about this shop was the second room, with its creaky wooden floor and kitchen-y items. Do you know what a gurgle pot is? Well, I got one on sale last year at a shop-that-shall-not-be-named in a local mall, and they were selling them at full price here. They are very cool looking and make excellent dust collectors, but no way would I pay full price for them. So, I did feel like prices were high but not off the mark for this type of shop. It's definitely worth a browse, especially if you're able to suppress your spastic shopping tendencies (which I somehow managed.) I would definitely come in again the next time I'm in town! read more

Such a fun store - so large and chock full o'stuff! My friend and I enjoyed just wandering through and admiring. This store would be perfect for picking out a unique gift for someone. We ended up getting a card for the wedding that had brought us out west and other small items. Also (an item of high importance to me) the lady who worked here was super-nice. You can justify buying all sorts of things from super-nice people (or at least I can). read more

Really fun gift shop... if you don't have food or drinks. It was politely suggested that we leave for having coffee (with a top). It wasn't suggested that we could set it at the front or anything, just uncomfortably told off. It's unfortunate that they would risk loosing customers over something so trivial. We left and laughed about how absurdly the situation was handled. I've been here before and made a point to come back, probably won't again. read more

The owner is really friendly and this is a great little store! By the name you can probably infer that a large quantity of the merchandise has to do with alcohol. They have bottle everything from cute signs and magnets to really fun and decorative glasses. There is a good deal of other merchandise too so if you're not a drinker don't think that this place isn't worth a stop, it most certainly is! And the prices seems really fair. This used to be such a nice place to visit. But the last time we were there it is full of items displaying the f word. How do you explain to a child that they can't say it, but it's OK for a business to sell items with obscenities on them. We won't be back. read more

Among the women in my family, I have a mom who LOVES cats, a grandma who cracks up at any dryly-humored magnet and my boyfriend's mom who collects anything and everything with elk on it. My best friend also likes woodchucks--don't ask. And I can find something for each one of them at The Wild Grape. They also have more sophisticated ephemera, like wine glasses, jewelry, soaps and some cool blankets in that back room. It's not really big enough to get five stars, but I do find it weird that I can't think of any shop down the hill that compares, and that I'm such a sucker for their mix of crafty kitsch. I guess because it's in cute, lil 'ol Idaho Springs? It's the best leading up to Christmas time, of course! read more

This place is so cool! They have EVERYthing you could think of! I think I could wander around here for ages....if my husband would let me:) They've got all kinds of kitchen and house decor all over the place. I wish I had taken a picture to show you, but I was too busy:) Speaking of, it was really busy in there when we went. It made it a teensy bit difficult to navigate the store, but I made it work. There are some "man" things in there, but to be honest it's really a store the ladies would like best. It's a little pricey, but the quality looks tip top, so it's worth it I'm sure. read more
