I've come to this coffee shop many times and the food and drink are always good. It's a great place to meet a friend or sit and work for a while. They have a punchcard to encourage return customers so be sure to pick it up when you go. The only thing I don't like is that they exclusively use paper and plastic products. Admittedly the hours of this spot has meant it hasn't shown up on my radar until recently. There's plenty of parking which is always a plus. There's a beautiful outdoor seating that that they've done a great job closing it with vegetation to give it a cozy feel. The gentleman that took my order was SO nice and he read it back to make sure he had it right. Not only that but after I placed my order I went to the bathroom. When I came out my drink and sandwich were on the table that I left my stuff at! I'm a sucker for that type of attention to detail. I got the iced chai latte and it was perfection. Never been here before so we had some questions. Older lady taking our order didn't give the friendliest vibe. It seemed our questions were annoying to her? I got chicken salad sandwich and my husband got the corned beef. My sandwich was good, his was very small, little meat and just okay. We also paid salads, but weren't given the chips that came with the sandwiches?We were charged for an extra entree which I didn't notice until later. We were passing through town when panic struck. This is the town with those fabulous scones. It's 4pm, they close early... omg, what time do they close?!? 5pm, whew. Spidey senses tingling, I was 2min away. I ran for the display... walked, sort of fast, for me... 4 scones left! Bag em up! We took those to go and had a couple of quick sandwiches. The coffee shop bistro is a great little find. My husband had the special turkey avocado club and I loved it.

Came in from the pouring rain looking for some warmth and we landed here. We all ordered some hot beverages and the two coffee based drinks were okay but the hot chocolate here was so delicious. The interior was decorated by various artist which we did enjoy and could purchase the pieces as well. We did go an hour from closing so they did not have very many items to pick from left in the bakery case so we decided to skip this time. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Well! Too bad. I was a regular at the Wild Hare Bistro & Coffeehouse, just about every day! Today, the owner happened to be in. I accidentally knocked a picture off the wall near the backdoor while waiting for coffee. The owner comes over and I apologized. He grabs it from my hand and says, "I guess" For real???? When my coffee was finally brought out to me and I asked the older lady in back who that was. She says the owner. I said he was rude. She simply replies, "Yeah, and?" As the owner walks up, I told him he didn't have to be rude and that I'm an everyday customer. He fixed the frame and acts as if nothing happened. Dude. I apologized for it and I was willing to pay for it before he walked away so rudely! Not cool. Not cool at all. Don't spend your money there, guys!! Very rude owner!! read more

Cute, quaint place to have breakfast, brunch or lunch. Why did I love this place so much? They served lunch items early in the morning! I hate breakfast food, so I was thrilled they had soup ready. Corn chowder soup was delicious, but needed a lot of salt, which was easily remedied. My Italian soda was refreshing. And I absolutely loved my dill and cheese scone! It was so tender and flavorful. The staff happily warmed it up for me. My fiance had a breakfast sandwich, sweet scone and some fruit. He said his breakfast sandwich was pretty standard, as far as breakfast sandwiches go. Best breakfast and lunch spot (and occasional dinner spot--first friday of the month) in town. This cafe has a bright ambiance, even if the windows look out upon a county courthouse and jail. Not their fault! Even given the grim view, the space is one of the nicest in Bemidji. The food is probably some of the best in town. I recommend the chicken salad sandwich, which has tiny pieces of almonds in it and a great mustard (I think?) spread. Even though it has celery, which I hate, I order it all the time! On your way to be a counselor at the famed Concordia Language Villages, you drive through the quaint village of Bemidji. Along side a big lake, and a statue of Paul Bunyon, you meander back into the village, stumbling upon a cute little cafe at the corner. Then you notice the Crazy Sculpture of a hare. An odd Hare. "a WILD Hare," you think to yourself. The WildHare Bistro. Simple. Fabulous. GORGEOUS. Summers in Bemidji would never be the same without this great place to take a break from the never ending immersion of young children in a target language. I'm sure its great for year-rounders or BSU students as well, but Oh for the counselor longing for a taste of the big city on his limited 4-hour night on the town, Wild Hare does JUST the trick. The food is really unmatched, even in independent shops in lager cities. Let me tell you, I've lived in my share of big cities, and I've never been this impressed. The staff is friendly and nice. Not just the Minnesota nice, but the genuine, "Hey, how are ya?" kind of nice. This is one place that deserves about 60 stars and one Angeleno who wishes he could pop in for a coffee more often than just a few times in the summer. I was never impressed with Wild Hare, it's really fairly ordinary. I was never motivated to write a bad review...until one of the more ridiculous serving experiences ever came along. To the replay: Weekend brunch. Restaurant fairly full. Seated at table. Drink orders promptly taken with menus given. Drinks are delivered after a few minutes. "We're ready to order now, too." "Oh, actually the kitchen told me a while back not to take any more orders for another ten minutes or so." o_O So being seated is fine, bringing drinks is okay, but taking a food order can't happen? I came here a few years ago when they were starting out. I returned to Bemidji for the first time in a while and was glad to see they are still open! I wasn't sure how the town would react to such a place, since it is one of a kind there, but it looks as though they are doing well for themselves. The spot is a warm and inviting with a couple different areas for seating. The local art on the walls is a nice touch. The changing specials, local sources, and foods from scratch are a big plus in my book. I have enjoyed a variety of sandwiches, beverages, and always the hummus platter from the Wild Hare. All have been very tasty. I'm always there around lunchtime, and it's a nice place to get a bite to eat or have a coffee with a good book. As another yelper mentioned, I have had a bit of sassy service here. They always seem in a big rush and might forget about friendly customer service. I wonder how many and where, the people who rave over their scones have actually had scones before. I've eaten them all over the U.S. and have never had or seen a scone like these. They're more like a cookie; flat, dry and not very good. We made a special trip to buy their scones and were sorely disappointed. I get breakfast here everyday, except Sunday. The closed Sundays are the reason for four instead of five stars. This place really is fabulous. Local from scratch kitchen. I would have never expected a little gem like this one. I had a basic ruben, not expecting anything special. The sauerkraut was the best I ever had, it was crisp and had a nice bite. On the way out, I had a chai to go. Most places I go (keep in mind I spend my free time in Minneapolis) the chai is all milk no spice, this one was perfect. The staff was extremely friendly and made me feel welcome, which honestly is hit or miss in Bemidji. I will be back at least one more time before my vacation is up. read more

Inconsistent food quality. I've been taking my kids here about once a week for a while, due to their scheduled activities in the area. I normally have good luck with their sandwiches and the mixed berry smoothies. Today, I tried the hummus platter and my kid ordered the same mixed berry smoothie she loves. The smoothie today was very watered down and tasted TERRIBLE. AND, don't order the hummus platter. I had to go back up to the counter to ask for the Tzatziki sauce, which is fine, but the lady at the counter made it sound like I had needed to ask for it, even though the menu lists it as part of the expected food item.
