TLDR; DON'T GO HERE MARINES. Overcharged, artist slow-walked the process, made a 2hr tattoo take 4…read morehours. Tattoo shop offered a $100 gift card on Black Friday, then they deliberately made sure to negate the value of the gift card by slow walking the tattoo process by taking 4-5 breaks on a 2 hour tattoo. The Artist Name is JT. My wife and I have over 40 hours of experience being tattooed, 10+ sessions each, at various locations across San Diego, Los Angeles, and Seattle. In the case of Dark Artisan Tattoo, my wife was quoted 4 hours of work from 2-6pm, she was required to put a 30% deposit down on this quote. Upon arriving at the shop, the artist and my wife decided that the size of the tattoo was too large for the area and decided to reduce the size and scope of work by 50%. Any reasonable person would assume, a reduction in size of a tattoo by 50% would mean, less time to complete, as the scope of the work is greatly reduced. What was a 4 hour tattoo became a 2hr tattoo, so to compensate for the reduction in tattoo hours, the artist took 4-5 breaks over the session; and upon completion, asked my wife to sit in the lobby for 20 minutes to let the ink settle so he could go back in a darken the tattoo more, even though he claimed it was already finished. Ultimately, the session took over 4 hours, and my wife was required to pay full price, even though the work was cut in half. The artist slow walked the tattoo to make more money. Here is the worst part, the business manager offered to let my wife come back into the shop and grab some free merch, but refused to refund her for the overcharge. The Business manager Kelly then tried to tell me that the Artist has a meter on his tattoo gun that can prove how long his tattoo gun was working. And when I asked to see the meter from my wife's tattoo, Kelly claimed that they conveniently no longer had that data as it has been a couple days since the tattoo took place. Even though, I lodged my complaint 5 minutes after my wife left the tattoo session, they didn't think to collect that data off the gun when I specifically complained about this issue. If this "tattoo-time meter" actually exists, they deliberately mismanaged this situation to avoid having to show proof. Lastly, I don't expect this shop to be open for long. Another tattoo shop at the edge of a Marine Corps base, taking advantage of young Marines who are none the wiser. Karma exists. Also the receptionists and staff have zero people skills and are often on their phones or browsing social media when interacting with you, horrible vibe. Creative minds are typically terrible business minds. This is a classic example of yet another creative mind, trying to manage a business and failing miserably at the most important aspect of their bottom line: customer satisfaction.

I spent 3months in Thailand getting rubdowns from Bangkok to Koh Lanta. I've spent the past 10years traipsing all over NYC and half the world getting kneaded and stretched and can honestly say the massage I received from Judith was in the top 3 massages of my life. Just a wonderful experiences all the way around. Trips back home can be stressful - thank God for massages. From the moment I set up the appointment - texting back and forth with Judith she was nothing but kind, warm, genuine and interested in helping me feel better. Very rare find. VERY RARE. Her space is located in the most charming old house and has a very good vibe to it. The table she does her treatments on is heated and serves to make the experience that much more enjoyable. Judith took the time to inquire about my current issues - a killer neck knot and stress all along my right side - and gave me a sheet of stretching exercises that can help me open up a tricky psoas muscle. So thoughtful. Throughout the massage she checked in to make sure the temperature and pressure were okay and was in tune with me to be able to interpret my murmurs and increased pressure when I mumbled "more would be good." I had never had singing bowls as part of a massage and let me just say this: wow. So cool. I've been interested in sound therapy and after the work done with Judith I will definitely be seeking it out. The experience, for me - was borderline spiritual and in my opinion, for me, that's what it takes to earn the ranking of a 5-star massage - and a 5-star massage therapist. Judith brought me a bottle of water and offered me samples of an ointment to use on my sore traps to close out the session. I floated back to my car and once inside immediately began drafting this review. It was that good. My Dad - who has only had one other massage in his WHOLE LIFE - was interested in going after hearing me gush about the experience. He LOVED it. He said his feet never felt so good! He levitated out of there. If you are looking for an AMAZING massage and experience - then look no further..... HIGHLY recommend.

I found exactly what I was looking for on my sleepy weekend get-away on the winter coast when I stumbled across Hand and Spirit two blocks from my B&B, and scheduled an appointment with Judith. The business slogan? "Life is good...massage makes it better!" Agreed! Judith was warm and welcoming from the second I stepped in the door. The small space is cozy and warm and instantly relaxing. I had a one hour therapeutic massage combining aromatherapy oils, yoga toes (hot stones between my toes), an amethyst biomat and bamboo fusion (hot bamboo used to smooth out tight muscles). Judith customizes each massage to the needs of her client and lets the energy in their body guide her. I could literally feel the energy in my body move and change. I was amazingly relaxed throughout the massage and when it was over I felt happy and energized - a wonderful combination. After my session I also purchased some of the wonderful homemade herbal remedies in the waiting area - a lavender and flaxseed eye pillow, lavender sachets, a de-stress body mist mixed by Judith and and Judith's balancing herbal tea remedy. My only regret is that I live 3 hours from Judith. Anytime I am within a one hour radius I will make my way here for an appointment. And I may take a trip out just to get a massage! This was really a wonderful experience and hard to completely put into words. I highly recommend Judith to anyone looking for a little extra relaxation while in the Beaufort area.
