Large blackstrap latte and iced spicy chocolate latte
    Jason F.

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. When on vacation we try to hit up a new local coffee shop and on this morning we decided to go to Wild Root. We were headed over to the Discovery and Science Center and so I wanted to find a place close by when I stumbled on Wild Root. This coffee shop is located in downtown Panama City and was pretty nondescript to the point that my wife and I missed it the first time around. Thankfully we ultimately found it on our second go-round. The inside of this coffee shop features string lights, local art, and plants, with a calm, earthy vibe. There's a mix of lounge seating and standard tables, as well as display shelves with snacks, coffee gear, and cold drinks. For my coffee on this morning, I ultimately decided on a large hot Black Strap Latte while my wife went with a large iced version of their Spicy Chocolate Cappuccino. The menu described mine as "Black strap molasses, espresso, and steamed milk," while my wife's was listed as "latte made with raw cacao, agave, cayenne, and milk." I thought that my latte here was really good. The molasses gave it a rich, deep sweetness that paired well with the espresso, and I appreciated that it wasn't overly sugary. There was a good coffee flavor in addition to the milk and molasses. My wife ended up liking her iced latte as well, especially the combination of chocolate and cayenne spice, which gave a little backend heat but wasn't overpowering. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. I liked that they had unique specials, and both my wife and I enjoyed what we had ordered.

When we're on…read morevacation, we try to visit a new local coffee shop, and this morning we decided to go to The Press. It's located in downtown Panama City and has a good amount of space inside. Immediately upon entering, there is some coffee and merchandise to your right, the ordering counter is straight ahead, and there's plenty of seating throughout the rest of the space. My wife and I were both drawn to their specialty menu, which was extensive and colorful. We both ended up choosing the same pistachio cookie latte, though I went with a large hot version, while my wife opted for a medium iced one. After about a five-minute wait, we had our coffees and headed on our way. My coffee turned out to be quite good. The first thing that hit me was the pistachio flavor, followed by the sweetness from the shortbread, and finally the coffee and milk came through at the finish. While I would have preferred a slightly stronger coffee flavor, I have to admit I basically inhaled it since I really enjoyed the taste. My wife also enjoyed her pistachio latte, and while she usually has quite a bit left by the time we get home, this time it was almost gone which says a lot. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed the vibe of The Press and thought their specials were great as well.
