For students, they have emerging and intermediate programs, as well as classes that focus on parenting, citizenship and workplace English. In April I attended the ESLC for training to become a ESL teacher. For $50 they provide a 2-weekend training at their headquarters in South Salt Lake; complete with heart-string jerking stories of their students, role playing real-life scenarios, creating a lesson plan and a swanky orange tote bag. The staff and mentors are amazing and I completed the program feeling a lot of responsibility in my new teaching role, but well-equipped and with an ample support system. They also encourage you to sit in on a class to get hands-on experience. The staff at ESLC opened my mind to what a impact confidence in language makes. From a parent who wants to ask questions their child's parent-teacher conferences, to an individual that wants a more fulfilling career.

As an educator myself, I find it very wrong, especially when one is paying a lot of money in tuition. Furthermore, in our experience, the first-grade teacher used ancient methodology and pedagogy. All in all, not a pleasant experience for the child and the parent of the child.
