From simple 'Bayman' or 'Come From Away' declarations, to stylized illustrations of the zany Rawlins Cross intersection, to an owl that says 'what?' instead of 'who?', I loved them all. I mean, Godzilla versus the Puffin? This is just really rad stuff in a really beautiful space. The rest of the shop is a fantastic mixed bag of unique products. There's more refined fashions for both men and women along with ridiculously good gift shopping. Again, this is not a tourist trap so don't expect too much in the way of coloured row houses, but there's plenty of other goodies ready to catch your eye.

In St. John's (in their current location on Water Street), I found the Newfoundland Crafts Council store and had the pleasure of visiting it a couple times during our stay here. The selection did not disappoint, as I came away with a nice forged letter opener from the Green Family Forge (Trinity) and a nice St. John's house magnet from Northeastern Folk Art. I could have easily done more "damage", but it was early in our trip and I needed to pace myself.

The views along the coastline and out on the water were stunning, and we even made it all the way down to the beautiful Cape Spear. I have been planning this trip for several years, and to have the moment cheapened with reference to exactly what I was trying to escape about our sad, consumption-bound existence ruined what should have been a transcendent moment. I'm sad. Not the guide's fault, but maybe a little more reverence for what people are seeing and experiencing would elevate the moment.
