Walking closer, I got a whiff of warm, divine, sugary vanilla. Churros!! I had a 10$ in my wallet and decided to give it a try. I was the only one in line, and ordered a cone of churros for 7.75$ (a bit expensive). Fresh churro dough was immediately dropped into a vat of oil and not even two minutes later, golden, crispy churros were rolled in sugar and presented to me. What a smell! What a sight! It was crispy on the outside, yet undescribably soft, moist and chewy on the inside. The dough was actually slightly salty, a perfect match with the sugar coating. In no way were these oily or heavy. Perfectly made, perfectly perfect. This is it, my favorite churros ever!!

Delicious dough, the right thickness and size but most importantly the zaatar mix itself. That right amount of sumac and perhaps other ingredients are used which dictates my judgment for this food. A warning tho, you have to advise them not to crisp your pizzas. If you don't like them well done, just ask them not to do so or otherwise they will. Looks like it's their standard way of baking the zaatar. Not for me, I don't like my zaatar slightly burnt. I tried almost all other well known bakeries in Laval and Montreal that sell zaatar along with other similar Lebanese/Syrian specialties and the closest one that comes to Najah's zaatar is the hole in the wall Arax bakery on Samson street. A runner up worth giving a try also. As for their sweets.... hmmm, I personally don't come to these type of bakeries for sweets. It's not their main specialty so it could be a hit or miss taste experience and also, freshness will play a major role. For Valentine, I had their cupcakes: chocolate, vanilla. The chocolate cupcake was dry. The bottom of the cake was sticking on the cupcake paper. They seem to have changed recipe of their chocolate cakes. The vanilla cupcake was better, although not soft, nor moist. The frosting tasted like shortening rather than buttercream.
