Well, if you're here reading this you likely also made the mistake of not stopping earlier. Can confirm Wildcat is the only food market within an hour + radius. We brought some food up from home, but stopped here to get a few things to get us through the weekend. Wildcat is definitely more of a convience store than a grocery market. The options were limited, but there's definitely enough to get you by! (Granted if you're a vegetarian that's a different story). Pricing is definitely expensive, but what really got me was that there's no prices on the items in the store!! Nor can you see the cost per item when they're ringing you up. Had I not read these reviews I def would've had more sticker shock when it came time to check out. The last review outlining what the store had in stock is a bit dated so I'll update yall who are reading this in 2024 - this is a list of what I remember seeing - Fridge items: Meats (chicken, ground beef, steak, etc), milk, creamer, eggs, sliced turkey/ham, sliced cheese, yogurt, soda, juice, & beer (have beer den) Frozen items: frozen pizzas, pizza bites, pot pies, meatballs, broccoli, green beans, other frozen/steam veggies, chicken/veggie pasta options Shelf items: lots of chips/snacks, bread (white and honey wheat), pasta sauce, pasta, soups, ramen, on/jelly/nutella, etc read more

If you're staying at the mountain for a week and plan on cooking most of your meals, I would highly recommend you shop at an actual grocery store before getting to Snowshoe (at least 1.5 hours away), and not expect to do a lot of it here at Wildcat Provisions. It is closer to being a convenience store than it is to being a grocery store. What I wished somebody else would've done in other reviews before I came here was to list some of the items to be found here, so that's what I'm doing now-- There is hardly any fresh produce. What was there was: oranges, bananas, blueberries, apples, avocado (presliced and sealed), peppers, tomatoes, baby carrots, lemons/lime. There are eggs, but they are $4 a dozen. There's butter, cheese (no fancy cheese to go with wine, though), milk, yogurt, some meat (pork chops, chicken breasts, NY strip steak, bacon, bologna). There's a variety of ice cream. For pantry items: an assortment of chips and snacks, oatmeal, canned beans and other canned items. I was not impressed with the bread selection (lots of white and some honey wheat). There's bagels, but its $7.50 for a bag. There's stuff for baking- sugar, flour, etc. There's wine and beer, like others have mentioned. I was hoping for some fresh local goods, like pies or breads, but there's none of that to be found here. Convenience at a price. Good selection, convenient location, late hours, friendly service. There's a wide variety of items, including limited household items, food/groceries (even some cold/frozen), and of course winter gear. Expect to pay for the convenience of being many miles from a grocery store - $$$ read more

Service was great but the pricing was ridiculous! Please make sure you buy all needed items prior to arriving in Snowshoe. The local "market" price gouges beyond belief. read more

Ridiculous! Almost $4 for a single serving of cereal for the kids. Selection is limited and prices are outrageous. They prey on the captive audience. I finally drove down the hill, 5 miles and tried the mini-IGA only to find the Dollar General had a much better selection and prices. If you have room, a cooler, and the time stop at an actual grocery before coming up here. read more

This is not a "grocery store" in the slightest. They do have different selections but i absolutely would not call it a grocery store. This place is EXTREMELY overpriced the mini bottle of A1 sauce was SEVEN dollars. I obviously got robbed. The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because it's in a convenient place and the customer service was decent. read more

Wildcat Provisions, now owned by the resort, provides a much needed service to the community if at a much steeper price. It is the place of last resort when you're on top of the mountain, can't or don't want to do the six-mile trek down to the Mart at the base of the mountain, and still need eggs, milk, or some of the staples. Wildcat has a movie/DVD rental with acceptable quality and a deli which is stocked depending on the season, with full stocking during the height of the winter season. read more

You can't beat this place for convenience. There isn't a huge selection as it is a small store and prices are about 3x the price of my grocery store at home. We figured we saved money on a deductible for my car since it was snowing heavily and wasn't safe to drive down the mountain to go to the grocery store in town. They provide a nice service. read more

They are not open for their stated hours, and they're only open for a short time after the slopes close. This makes them basically useless. I advise driving down to the Par Mar near the Snowshoe Inn. read more

Good, considering the closest grocery store/Walmart is a 3 hour round trip. A case of water is $12.99. Thankful they are there though.

I've only been half a dozen times over the last 20 years or so and it is convenient and prices aren't too bad for the top of the mountain. One thing I've noticed is in the past I was at least acknowledged as a customer. This past trip I went in two times and I don't think one employee said hello. I had to endure a long conversation between two employees while I waited for change. I don't expect them to be my friend or engage me in small talk but if I'm spending money in your place you could at least acknowledge the fact and say hi, thanks and maybe goodbye. read more
