Inspired by watching the TV series Alone made me want to get started with learning survival skills…read more- this course helps you get your feet wet in the core elements of how to analyze and think critically when faced with a survival situation. Dan Baird was an incredible instructor (his background as a primitive survival specialist must be highlighted here) as he gave a very clear reality of what we need to tackle i.e. shelter and temperature regulation, knowing your environment, etc. We got to build shelters on what we think we would good for a survival and Dan showed us a much more sustainable version: both in a limited amount of time to replicate more dire situations. We also got to practice tying up gauze in case of heavy injury and bleeding as well as how to properly navigate via a compass (who knew there were two kinds of "north"?!) Overall, I highly recommend and will be back for more! Note: our training was in the mountains of Livermore - your car will get dirt on it!!

From my very first visit to our last day, I consistently witnessed the remarkable bond between the teachers and students, along with the safe and nurturing environment they created. The staff's dedication was evident in their deep understanding, thoughtful guidance, and unwavering commitment to the children's growth. Communication with parents was never anything less than open and heartfelt, a true partnership built on trust and shared dedication to our children's well-being. One World Montessori was a place filled with joy, discovery, and boundless care--a school where every child was seen, valued, and celebrated. The campsite is amazing, with a beautiful dinning hall, performing stage, amphitheater with a pond, and places to hike. The dorm rooms are very nice and spacious and food was really good. The location is also perfect for South Bay families. It's a short drive but it feels like the kids are staying deep in the mountains.

My son attended ATLC from Nov 2025 until April 2026 when we removed him from the school after he…read morestated that a teacher had hit him more than once. This was the final straw after we had a few red flags in the short amount of time our son attended this school. A few of these red flags include the following: - Another student hit our son in the face with a stick on the playground. We received a phone call around 2:55PM, approximately 15 minutes before we were scheduled to pick him up to tell us he had a minor scratch on his face and is okay. When we picked him up, we found out he had a large cut from above his eyebrow, down across his eyelid, and then down his cheek and was more severe than presented over the phone. That night I wrote an email about my concerns with the supervision on the playground and asking what their protocol was for sending kids home. Our son had previously been sent home for not taking a nap, but this child who hit our son was not sent home. I never received a response to this email. The following day at drop off we received an incident report that stated this incident occurred around 9AM, even though we were informed about hours later. It as well was framed as it was our son's fault for the incident since he took a toy a separate child was playing with. - Our son had begun to be sent home frequently as he had started to not take naps anymore. They would usually call us right before naptime and tell us to pick him up as he was 'disrupting naptime'. One morning I dropped him off and within 30 minutes I received a phone call saying that they were understaffed for the day and asked me to pick him up since he was their 'active' student. - We found out from our son that they played tv prior to naptime when we were never told that they do screen time as we limit screentime in our own home. It is also proven that screentime prior to nap or bedtime prevents restfulness. - If a child does not nap, they will single them out and make them sit by themselves in an empty room. - Our son went from absolutely loving school/daycare and never having disciplinary incidents to weekly being told he was a problem child and singled out constantly. This led to him crying and never wanting to go to school as I believe he felt the dislike toward him from the teachers. - He began to tell us how he only liked his one teacher and that his other teacher was mean. This led to him telling us how on the playground one day this specific teacher grabbed him by the hand, dragged him over to forcefully pick up a toy, and open hand slapped him on the knees/shin area. He told me that this teacher previously sat on him during nap time. He then told me that this teacher called him a naughty word. When pressed further he ended up telling us that the teacher called him "a little shit". Following this incident we immediately pulled our son and removed him from this school. When my MIL went to pick up his belongings, the same teacher laughed in my MIL's face when the situation about hitting our child came up and yelled at her. It was extremely disappointing and disheartening that this woman was supposed to be teaching my son and making him feel safe when she ended up doing the complete opposite. - Lastly, our son has an IEP for speech, and it makes me very concerned that they singled out a child who may not fully be able to communicate what was happening to him. His speech teacher that is employed by the Cambrian school district, conducted an observation of him in class and stated how he had an amazing morning with no incidents. I was elated by the feedback, but of course once we picked him up at the end of the day, we were met by the teacher who told us how unruly he was *right* when the speech teacher left the classroom conveniently. I do not think this woman should be working in any environment with a child moving forward and I hope no other child is hurt physically or emotionally by this preschool. Our son now goes to another preschool and has been thriving since starting there. He has many friends, loves his teachers, and comes home every day with something new that he learned in school. He never had that at ATLC. Instead, he had mean teachers and another student telling him "No one likes you. You have no friends" at THREE.

Participating in Sunnymont-Westside has been one of the most empowering experiences, and I have noticed the positive effect it has had on my child's growth in a few months. As a first-time parent and secondary language speaker of English, I was a bit nervous about sending my kid to school. However, the supportive and welcoming atmosphere at Sunnymont-Westside has made the transition far smoother. Watching my child learn alongside other children, experienced teachers, and warm-hearted parents has been incredible. What's noteworthy is the support I received from the other parents. It's amazing how a group of strangers can come together, share their experiences, and form bonds. Of course, being a part of a parent-participating nursery school isn't always easy. It takes much more commitment, time, and work, but the rewards are well worth it. I learned so much about child development and witnessed firsthand my involvement's impact on my child's development. We grow together. The benefits of parent participation are clear - both for the kids and parents ourselves! Come and see why so many families love our program :)

From the snack station to the indoor slide, pretend-play costumes, art table, science station, sensory area, play structure, sandpit, and more - my little one enjoys every aspect!
