Very nice people working there. I think it's a great experience for elementary age students.

I've been to Vasona many times and seen the sign for YSI, though I finally ventured in today!…read more This place is somewhat of a hidden gem; while it offers a chance to learn more about endemic species in our area, it is also very small. For that reason, I would say it's great to come here but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. COST: $6 for parking, but no cost to enter! PARKING: there is a spacious lot right next to the entrance. AMBIANCE: clean, uplifting, and cozy. There are many educational toys and books, which complement the somewhat small selection of animals to see. Would come back, but would be best to combine this with a walk in Vasona or a trip to the Oak Meadow merry-go-round or train.

Science is Golden…read more Signed my son up for a week-long summer camp ("Geology Rocks!") here at YSi and he absolutely loved it. Which is saying a lot for a kid that hates school and would much rather be whiling away his summer playing the Minecrafts®™. *eye roll* The Good: *Great communication from the staff, as they send out plenty of helpful emails to keep parents informed of what's going on. *Easy pick-up and drop-off *Extremely cautious 'Rona™ measures that include masks; socially-distanced pickup and drop-offs; as well as temperature checks. *A bit overly cautious but safe pick-ups as they check ID and the pick-up person *must* be on the list. *They offer tons of classes with easy sign-ups online The Bad: *Make sure you sign-up early as their classes fill-up fast. We lollygagged and waited too late and were only able to sign him up for one class. :( TLDR: We've always been big fans of YSi but now love them even more! Honestly not sure if he learned anything--as it's tough getting an answer between all the mining and the crafting--but if he liked it, then you know it's good.

0 stars - but that wasn't an option, so went with 1 star…read more Facility: clean as a gymnastics place can be. Coaches: tooo soft and gentle many times kids look bored to pieces. The girl coaches are even more exhausting: talking softly (with more makeup on than Madonna) and barely having kids do much. Many coaches don't know what they are doing. We've tried this place 2xs as various ages for our little one. (1) 18-20months class...um we were in a class with babies who could barely stand. The coach was a sweetheart because she was really focusing on the babies (having them become stable) but why the **** have us in this class when you see our kid is just walking around. (2) 4 years old: Ninja class: the rings are so low the kids just walk right past them, there is no real force to do anything, some kids are rolling on the ground, spacing out and hitting others in class. Moms spend so much time trying to talk to their own kids to flow (the coach) from the door- it's annoying. When my kid's coach came to me one day and told me another kid hit my kid as he was waiting his turn....I was over this place, my kid knows more than 90% of the things (as we've come from another gymnastics place) and wanted to try this because it was closer to home on weekends. But 2nd strike I'm done! Side Note: I saw another coach (he had a boot on one leg with crushes) teaching the 5-7year old and he was able to keep his kiddos in line and doing everything. But he must be THE ONLY ONE. Skip this mediocre place. We're back to our fav place in Santa Clara with our fav coach of 10 years now.

Stratford: the most expensive way to get less education…read more Stratford operates like a corporation first and a school second. My daughter attended from age three through 4th grade. We chose to withdraw because the 5th-grade campus commute would have been unreasonable. We communicated this intention clearly and repeatedly, in person, to the principal (Preethi Chadha) and her 4th-grade teacher. Despite that, Stratford charged a 10% withdrawal fee on annual tuition, claiming notice was not submitted to the "corporate" office. At no point did anyone proactively flag this requirement, remind us, or make any effort to prevent the fee--after years of tuition and what we believed was a community relationship. The result felt less like a policy and more like a revenue mechanism. Moving to Los Gatos public schools was eye-opening: materially better support, stronger administration, and none of the "tuition-with-fees" experience. To be clear, our criticism is not of the teachers--we had several excellent educators doing their best. The issue is administrative and institutional. If you're considering Stratford, go in with clear eyes: their priorities are corporate first, families second.

There are always engaging and creative activities, and our little one has made wonderful friends here. We also truly appreciate the warm and friendly parent community. It's easy to communicate and connect with other families. A special thank you to Ms. Sree and Miss Cyndi, who are incredibly caring, responsible, and organized. Every activity is thoughtfully planned and executed with love. We feel so lucky that our child was able to spend an entire preschool year in Room 2. Highly recommend to any family looking for a nurturing and well-rounded preschool experience!
